If anyone from Primerica calls you, just say no! They called me ealier today and tried to schedule an interview for tomorrow morning. As a professional in my field, I started asking questions.
Her initial responses to my inquiries were vague. She couldn't give me a job title, or an accurate descriprion of the position. She asked funny questions such as, "Do you like money," and "Don't you want to help people?"
My feelings on those comments? Bull. Business is business. Then she wanted to schedule meetings at odd hours of the day. 8 am on saturday? 7:30 pm on tuesday? She mentioned these meeting times like they occurred on a regular basis. It costs money to hire and fire people. Why would a legitimate company try to recruit candidates en masse?
Also, why would they contact me out of the blue? I have applied for positions with various CitiGroup divisions, but those were specific positions with a specific set of requirements and duties. I couldn't even find Primerica on a career search within Citi.
I did however find it in a search on Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com. Postings in both places included buzz phrases like "make $500,000 right from home" and "be your own boss" and "set your own hours." People should recognize these buzz phrases from spam and homemade cardboard signs beside the road.
I learned from an associate that it is a similar business to Cutco Knives. Ever had one of those kids at your door? They ask for the names and numbers of friends and family so they can share the "great product" with them. Same thing!
In closing, stay well aware of this company. I have prepared myself for recieving harrassing phone calls from these people and am ready to call for a restraining order. Hopefully I won't have to be ugly.
