Kent Bachman, Director of Sales and Marketing is verbally quoting prices of homes, options, and upgrades. He signs contracts, negotiates prices, and attempts to get their licensed salespersons to commit illegal activities. A salesperson, afraid to lose her license, recently quit due to his illegal activities.

The owner of Private Island Homes, Inc, Vincent Rover, does have a brokers license and employess of that business can in fact provide certain services under that license. However, Vincent Rover doesn't want to sign sales contracts so Kent Bachman does. This is a violation of the California Business and Professions Code Section 10177(h).

Private Island Homes does have a real estate group working for them, who has a licensed broker, and licensed real estate agents at both projects. The phone number for sales information on their website should be the brokers phone number as she or one of her salespersons can quote and/or negotiate prices. However, the phone number is Kent Bachman's.

Mr Bachman recently tried to keep a potential homeowners deposit after they had to back out of the sale. He promised to give the money back..it's illegal to keep it. To this day, he still hasn't. Hopefully they were smart and have contacted an attorney.

I have filed a complaint with the California DRC (Department of Real Estate) for violations that include:

Failure to Supervise-Section 10177(h)of the California Business and Professions Code

AND

Unlicensed Activity-Section 10130 of the California Business and Professions Code

AND

Misrepresentation-Section 10176(a)of the California Business and Professions Code

Good luck to Private Island Homes. You should think about what he's doing and if you're smart, you'll get rid of Kent Bachman while you're still out of trouble.

Hertel Home Owner.. a company that not only lies and cheats but cover ups building errors

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 05, 2005

I FULLY Agree, R.W. Hertel & Sons is a RIP Off and a company that not only lies and cheats but cover ups building errors. I live at Rancho Obispo in San Luis Obispo, CA a Hertel project we have numerous building code violations, leaking roofs, Toxic mold growing etc.. We have had over 8 homes with leaks, and another 7 with known water intrusion issues and one home was so bad the Builder has to buy it back, two homes have toxic mold and we suspect more do as well. So my advise is use Extreme Cauttion when buying a R.W. Hertel & Sons home, they were blasted at a public city council meeting last month and have had many building issues.

i agree...kent bachman will bring private island homes down

AUTHOR: Diane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 22, 2004

The company I work for does some contracting work for Private Island Homes. I'm not going to state where or what, as it may affect our contract. Private Island Homes was previously named R.W. Hertel & Sons, Inc. (Two very bad projects they built under that name are currently involved in lawsuits) They have a few bad apples, but the most rotten has to be Kent Bachman. How can a legitimate company have someone who doesn't have a real estate license and who knows nothing about building homes, be the Director of Sales and Marketing? I've spoken with him a couple times on the phone, and believe me, he doesn't know what he's talking about, but sure tries hard to convince you he does by analyzing the conversation to death.

Just a warning: Below is a list of the "few bad apples" to be aware of.

Richard Breedlove-Superintendent of Poppy Hills Estates, Ripon, CA.
If I'm not mistaken, Richard is the superintendent that has the "deer in headlights" look. Looking back to the day I first spoke with him, I would 100% agree with that statement. This is Richards first attempt at a Superintendent position, so he's learning at the homeowners expense.

Carlos Hernandez-Customer Service, Poppy Hills Estates, Ripon, CA.
" ". That is the statement about Carlos. Nothing for a nothing. He basically does....nothing.

Robin Collin-Controller, Main Office, Martinez, CA
I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Robin a few times regarding our account. After she passed the buck and it was resolved by another employee, that was all it took for me to make sure I never had to deal with her again. She is rude, unwilling to help, and is only good for passing the buck.

Maybe it's not so much the bad apples that makes dealing with Private Island Homes so bad...nevermind, yes it is. But besides that, it's the fact that they don't pay their bills and they are cheap, cheap, cheap. We waited 4 months for a bill to get paid. Another time we waited 6 months. And that was with a signed PO!

I believe this is the last project my company has decided to work with them. I can't wait til it's over.
