Providian Aria Getsmart And Emerge Illegal charges, fraudulent late charges kept charging me after I paid in full AND cancelled card

it just goes on and on. . . . victimized many consumers Atlanta - Phone - To People Who Take Payments, But Do Not Have Any Authority To Correct Problems - They Create Problems!!! Georgia - and channeling funds to India

My story is much like those posted on this site. I had an Aria Visa from Providian - never late on any payments. Then it was Aria-Getsmart Visa - I made all payments on time.

Then last September, Providian Bank apparently sold the accounts to Emerge Mastercard. I did not receive a letter about this. The interest rates were jacked up to 29.99%. I found all this out by going on-line, to make a payment - discovered that one can no longer make an on-line payment.

I telephoned the toll free number provided and was connected to a woman in India. They then charged $9.95 for a phone payment. To aboid that, I sent payments by mail - then found that no matter how early I sent the payment, the payments were recorded by Emerge as late!!

I got fed up and called to pay off the entire balance and cancel the card. I was charged the phone payment fee, and I asked if ALL charges were now taken care of - I was told yes.

Then. . . I get a bill for a late fee. I call and complain, and there was no supervisor present, I was told. I paid the stupid fee - I just wanted the entire Emerge/Providian/Aria/Getsmart experience to end!

Then. . .I get a bill for for the annual fee!! I had cancelled the card. I called, and they confirmed cancellation of the care - but "by chance". . . the annual fee (for the coming year) was "by mistake" not included in the fee I paid when paying everything off in full.

Then. . .I get a bill for $1.14 - again, I called and I begged for no further contact with this fruadulent company - I paid the small fee plus the phone fee. . .
