I purchased a groupon for this canvas print store to turn my family picture into a canvas on November 1st. I went to the website and placed my order and also paid for shipping. On November 14th I contacted the company stating I had never received a receipt of purchase nor shipping confirmation since the canvas was to be sent out in 7-10 days, which had passed. The man on the line stated that they did have my order and it would be shipped out the following week. I had asked for him to send me the receipt and shipping information and he said he would. On November 23 I had still not received any information regarding my order. I contacted them via their Facebook page and stated my concern after seeing others who had the same issue. They gave me these following responses: 

"PUREcanvas.com Dear (other customer name) and (My name), our team will make sure that both orders are shipped this Monday. We completely understand your frustration and apologize for the delay. Our customers are very important to us and we hope you will give us another opportunity to win you back as a customer. Please let us know if you love your canvas, once received and we will make sure to provide you with a big discount on your next order for your patience and understanding."
"PUREcanvas.com Dear (My name), we apologize for your experience and for the delay. The delay you are experiencing is in no way a usual customer experience. As mentioned previously, we are experiencing a delay due to a shortage of materials. We are working on shipping all orders as soon as possible . I can promise that your order will be shipped this Monday. We thank you for your patience and again apologize for the delay. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to further assist."
 
On this day, December 5th, I have no canvas and no information of my order. They have now tried to delete customer complaints on their Facebook page and set their phone number listed on their website to go straight to voicemail. From other complaints from customers I have gathered, they have also failed to respond to any emails sent. They cut off all communications with their customers who have been waiting over a month to month and a half for their order with no receipt or shipping information. Therefore, I am declaring that this company must be a scam and would not recommend any person to do business with them.

Regardless of whether or not their sob story is true, they are still a dishonest compnay. I purchased a canvas print with my Groupon and had my order cancelled. I got a refund from Groupon, but PureCanvas has still not refunded the $30 in shipping that I paid.

I have attempted to contact them twice via the form on their website. I have called the numbers on their website (no answer), I have tried emailing the owner of their domain, I filed a report with the BBB and received no response from the company. PureCanvas are crooks, and should be prosecuted.

Still a scam

Do not believe the sob story this company is trying to put out.  First,  I was a victim of this scam as well.  Contrary to purecanvas' statement that they notified all groupon customers, they did not.  Instead, they notified Groupon they would not be fulfilling orders and left it to Groupon to disseminate that information.  What makes their response even more fraudulent is that they most certainly did not stop accepting groupon orders.  In fact, I placed an order using my groupon on December 27, 2014, purecanvas charged me $9.99 for shipping, and only later, by calling their phone number and emailing them (neither of which yielded any response) did I call Groupon and discover that the company had no intention of fulfilling my order.

They say they are a legitimate business?  Then why do they continue to process payment of $9.99 per order for groupon orders which they do not intend to fulfill?  I have disputed the charge with my credit card but the level of dishonesty here is really shocking.  This is not a legitimate business and I would support any civil or criminal actions being brought against them.

Honestly, the fact that they made a rebuttal to this post and tried to extend this fraud, most likely so that they could keep collecting customers $9.99 shipping charges, is really disgusting.

Groupon Customer Issue

On behalf of Purecanvas we would like to sincerely apologize for your experience. On Friday, Dec 05th Purecanvas sent an email to all Groupon customers explaining that all charges would be refunded within 7-14 days. We apologized for the delay in response and explained why we were having a difficult time fulfilling Groupon orders. Purecanvas began Groupon in August 2014 and ran through mid November 2014. During that short period of time we sold 13,156 and filled over 11,000 orders. We offered 75% markdown plus an undisclosed amount to Groupon, which on our end resulted in an extremely low profit margin but we decided to take the risk in hopes of gaining new customers. We had to hault production due to our shipment of wood not arriving. Our shipment of wood was delayed over 20 days forcing us to use local distributors which cost us four times as much. As a result, we were losing a substantial amount of money on each order. We kept filling orders to keep our customers satisfied but we were digging ourselfs in debt, almost bankrupting the company. We had to let go of over 80% of our staff and downsize to one office just to continue filling orders. We pride ourselves in offering great quality and quick service and are devestated that we were not able to hold that standard for every order. Running a Groupon was a poor business decision and we apologize to all affected. We are a company with integrity, that is why we made the decision to not have our customers wait any longer and refund all money spent. We are in no way a scam or a dishonest company. We admit our mistakes and hope that our customers can undestand that it was all due to an unfortunate event. We are still operating as a company but no longer accepting Groupon Orders. As a company, we will still offer great discounts and promise all orders going forward will always ship within 4-6 business days.
