These people at "Queen Home School" have a link to www.caringbridge.org on their homepage. They tell half truths to get people to give money to them and their kid. They say on their start page that their kid has leukemia (True) and that he needs some 'herbal supplements' that supposedly cost $3000 a MONTH for just him! (False)The lie is that the ENTIRE FAMILY IS on the supplements (They have 6 kids, + 2 parents), the father is employed with a cushy penndot job (in other words, full medical benefits), so it's not like they are destitute.

Since their kid got sick (a little over a year ago), they seem to have been doing extra well financially. For example, within the year, they traded in their old motor home for a brand NEW very expensive one, which they use for their home school business to go to trade shows, he bought his kids (and himself) at least 2 new dirtbikes, he recently got a motocross one for himself, he got a very expensive light set up on his truck (they cost over a thousand bucks to rig up), they got new gravel spread on their driveway (and their driveway is VERY long, and gravel isn't cheap either) and they are getting some locals to put a new addition on their house, which isn't cheap, especially since they put in cement block walls. They also got some brand new skis (not cheap either, especially if you go skiing!). This is even just what I know about, there might be other stuff too. I also think they just bought 2 new vehicles, as their one red car was totaled awhile ago.

Obviously these people are not desperate for money like they try to make out on their posts at caringbridge.org. Their kid has been through treatment, and yet they still are trying to solicit more cash from unsuspecting people. The posts just tell about all the woe is me stuff that happens, yet they say how they need a 'new tv' for home schooling their kids, then she needs a new digital camera, etc etc. They even got Make A Wish foundation to build their kid a clubhouse. They are using the fact that their kid had leukemia to rake in the cash.

I would send pictures of this stuff but their place is in the woods and I can't trespass on their land to take them.

I emailed caringbridge to tell them about the scam, but I never got a reply, apparently they don't care if someone is using their site for scams....

Sorry Jen, You are Misinformed

AUTHOR: Sandi Queen - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 08, 2010

Hi Jen,

I'm sorry you feel the need to both spy on our family and embellish the truth, as well as fabricating complete fiction about our lives.

I was not aware of having someone here who was overseeing our son's medical expenses, who would know the exact amount we spent each month out of pocket, and therefore was informed truthfully enough to make the statement that the $3,000 we spent monthly was false.  Actually, the $3,000 per month was just a starting point - and it was for just Jeremiah. Yes, our whole family at one time or another has taken herbal or homeopathic supplements for different ailments, but none of those were calculated into Jeremiah's monthly expenses.  In fact, when I was diagnosed with stomach cancer 2 years after Jeremiah's diagnosis, our expenses went up to an average of $7,000 per month, out of pocket, since I chose to forgo traditional treatment completely and use only a natural approach.  You will note that, on Jeremiah's caringbridge site, I never once asked for donations for myself.

Perhaps when you yourself are diagnosed with cancer, and if you decide to treat it naturally, you will understand the enormous expense involved.  Until then, I'm sorry, but the truth is, you cannot even begin to know or understand.

Next point:
Yes, my husband does have a job at Penndot.  "Cushy" is hardly a term I would use to describe it.  He is a truck driver.  Yes, he does have full medical benefits, and IF we would have chosen to go that route exclusively, MOST (not all) of Jeremiah's medical expenses would have been covered.  In fact, much of his chemo and procedures were.  But thankfully, we did not choose to use only those methods, and I praise the Lord each day when I look at our now healthy, 8 year old son, a cancer survivor.  Most of the other children I have known with cancer, who used only the traditional approach, are no longer here to look at.  It was worth every penny that we spent, and we are thankful for every penny that was donated - though in truth, the donations barely made a dent in the amount we paid for ourselves.  There were very few fundraisers held, and the total amount of donations that came in during Jeremiah's 3 1/2 years of treatment were very small in comparison to what we spent.  It was the LORD, Jen, Who provided for us during that time.  It was HIM who prompted people to give what they could, and Who raised our business sales to the point where we could afford a higher salary to sustain us and pay the expenses for our son - as, again, most of it was not paid for by donations, but our of our OWN pockets.
Let us not forget the regular (at one point they were at least weekly) drives (and gasoline) to Children's Hospital - 2 1/2 hours away, parking fees, drives to specialists in other states for special tests that were not covered by insurance, etc. etc. etc.
Again, you have no idea.  No idea.

Next point:
Motorhome - yes, we traded in our old motorhome for a new one during this time.  This was a business expense, and a business purchase.  I have no need to justify this to you or anyone else, but I will say, since you appear to be uneducated in this area, that a business expenditure does not mean that the person who owns that business has unlimited cash onhand.  We draw a certain modest monthly salary from our business, and it does not fluctuate depending upon our expense needs.  The business money is business money, the monthly salary is what we have on hand to spend.  If you need more of an explanation of how this works, you may wish to speak to an accountant, who can better fully explain to you how this sort of thing works.  Bottom line - the business money is not our personal spending money.  BTW, the motorhome we purchased will be paid for over the period of 20 years, and the main reason we purchased it for our business, out of business funds (actually, as I stated already, we did not "purchase" it outright, it is financed, and paid for every month for 20 years) is because when we travel to conventions as a family to sell our books, which is how we make our living, it was much easier on Jeremiah to be able to have all of his supplies (supplements, home-made healthy food to eat, etc.) available, rather than having to feed him fast food and try to make his daily smoothies and such in a hotel room.  Also, after calculating what we were spending on hotel rooms and meals at restaurants for convention travels, it was cheaper to buy a motorhome and make the monthly payment than it was to pay for 2 hotel rooms (there are 8 of us, and we don't lie and say there are less than that to try to get us all into one hotel room), meals, etc.

Next point:
Dirtbikes - sorry, but if you had encroached and neb-nosed a little closer, you might have noticed that my husband bought an old used dirtbike so that he could go riding with our 2 older sons, who bought their OWN dirtbikes out of their OWN money.  I guess you didn't have access to our bank accounts, so you couldn't  know that.  Too bad.  Maybe you thought we should have taken our children's money that they worked for and saved to buy their dirtbikes, and buy their brother's pills?  If so, I can assure you that's because you have never been in our position.  You have never had a terminally ill child, and seen the stress it creates for the child's siblings.  Yes, we were very concerned about Jeremiah's needs during his 3 1/2 years of treatment - but we were also very concerned about our other five children, and their emotional health and well being.  When our sons saved their money to buy dirtbikes, we were happy for them to have this outlet to be able to escape some of the stress of daily life in the household where their little brother was battling cancer.  When their daddy was able to purchase a very cheap older dirtbike to ride with them, we considered it a blessing for them to be able to think about something other than cancer for awhile.

Next point:
Truck - have no idea what you are talking about.  His Penndot truck?  Whatever is on there is paid for by PennDOT.  If you are referring to his junky old pickup truck that won't even pass inspection (it is now sold), it came with whatever lights were on it.  He paid a few hundred dollars for the whole lot - truck, rust-holes, plow, and lights that were on the plow frame from a friend, and bought it with a plow so that he could plow our (looonnnnggggg - as you know) driveway.  Can't get to work or the hospital or anywhere else if you can't get out of the driveway.  I guess we got a deal if you say that it cost over $1000 to "rig up" (???)  The whole truck and set up cost us much less than that.

Next point:
Gravel for driveway...
Come on.
Have you ever had a mud driveway and tried to get out during rainy season?
I'm not even going to justify that comment with a response.

Next point:
New addition - have you ever lived in a one bedroom house with 8 people?  That's what we had when we moved here.  I won't mention that we saved for this addition for over 7 years, or that along the way, our savings for it were continually used up for Jeremiah's pills.  Not that we're complaining, but that's why our addition of ONE BEDROOM took so long to be completed.

Next point:
Skis - apparently you are not as good of a spy as you had hoped.  The "brand new" skis my husband bought from someone at work cost $25 for ALL - that included the skis, boots, and poles.  I'd like to see someone get some brand new skis for that price!  And just in case you camped out at the end of our driveway to try to catch us leaving to go skiing at some expensive ski resort, so that you could document it, don't worry - you didn't miss it.  We got them for the kids to ski in our hilly yard, where skiing is free.

Next point:
New vehicles - sorry, Jen.  The only "new" vehicle we bought at the time of your posting was an old beater we bought for a couple hundred dollars from my parents.  We bought it because it was cheap on gas (a Ford Taurus, compared to our big old Ford Econoline Van), and we bought it for our weekly hospital trips - a 2 1/2 hour drive each way.  Also, it was front wheel drive, and the hospital trips in the winter in a rear wheel drive van up our dirt and gravel hilly road were not always easy in the van.  I guess you are local enough to have heard about me totaling that car not long after, though my husband was able to fix it up and make it driveable again.  We ended up giving it to a friend from church who needed it more than we did.

Next point:
Make-A-Wish cabin - what a blessing it was to have Make-A-Wish contact us and ASK if they could do something kind for Jeremiah!  We did not solicit this.  They contacted us, as they do every child with cancer or other life-threatening illness.  They offered anything he wanted - a trip to Disney, etc.  But Jeremiah wanted a cowboy cabin, and yes, they came and build a playhouse on our property.  I'm so thankful they did.  It has been a wonderful distraction for him during some tough times.  We have donated to Make-A-Wish since Jeremiah's treatment has ended, happy to see another suffering child benefit in the way that our son did during his dark days.

Next point:
Address - I guess you were not thorough enough to check this with our township, who changed the name of our road several years ago, but never changed the street sign.  :o(
We would love to have the two correspond with one another.  In fact, a few years ago, we had a chimney fire, and I called 911 (though you probably know about this too, since you seem to delight in spying on us), who called me back for directions, because the street sign doesn't match the address.  Now, because they have been here, they finally know where we are located - though the street sign still mistakenly says "Plantz Hill Road."

Next point:
Pictures - if you really want pictures of our home and vehicles and belongings and driveway, I am almost tempted to invite you over to take some - but the fact that you have already spied on us and scrutinized the contents of our garage and such makes me desire instead to decline to do so.  I'm sorry you feel the need to bash us for sharing from our hearts the struggle of what it is like to go through a trial like we did.  I am not sorry for us, but rather for you, Jen.  You are obviously a very angry person with a desire to slander us for some reason, when we have done nothing to deserve this.  I will pray for you.  In the meantime, I would like to send you a free copy of the book I wrote about Jeremiah's journey through childhood cancer.  Maybe it can help you to get a better picture of what it is like to have a child facing death, and the expense and trial involved.  I hope you will never have to find out first-hand what it is like - but I do hope that reading the book would help you to develop the kind of compassion that would choose to reach out and show kindness to the next suffering person God allows into your life, rather than to try to tear them down and slander their reputation because they were transparent enough to show things how they really are.

If you send me your mailing address, I'll send you a copy of the book. In the meantime, I pray you will learn to get past your bitterness that you seem to delight in taking out on us, and come to know the God we serve, who can instead give you the peace your heart obviously craves.

In Him,

Sandi Queen (Jeremiah's Mommy)

Queenhomeschool.com is running a scam

AUTHOR: Jen - (U.S.A.)

I noticed while checking a search engine that the Queen Home School's site also does slight changes in their address. Instead of saying they are in the city of New Freeport, they just say Freeport, and their street address is Plantz Hill Road, not Plantz Ridge Road, like they have on their website. Not sure why they have these discrepancies, but maybe it's got something to do with their normal deceptions of the public. They are also driving a brand new Chevy around, and I think they have a brand new SUV as well. Keep donating them those thousands of dollars, so they can use them for their own personal purposes.
