I am writing to you because I have had a negative experience with Quik Park Garage Corporation at:

155 East 11th St, New York, NY 10016

I joined their parking garage on June 2012 after purchasing a 2012 Fiat 500 vehicle.  While doing a google search on parking garages I went to their website and saw an advertisement for $99 a month ($117 with tax) for Fiat 500 owners.  So I called and spoke with Eric (monthly@nycquikpark.com) and he mentioned the deal was correct and sent me an application form in the mail, we filled it out and signed up.

Now to the issue at hand, today is December 27th, 2012 and we have paid on time every month with no issues.  I dropped off my vehicle to the garage this morning after the holiday festivities, and the parking garage manager Alberto tells me that on January 1st, 2012 the new bill will be $400.00 a month.  He provided no explanation so I called the offices and spoke with Lisa Melendez (lmelendez@quickpark.net) and she told me her manager was aware of the situation and put him on the phone.  He told me that I had been exploiting their system and that the only people allowed to park in their garage with that deal have to buy the car at Fiat of Manhattan or pay $400.00 a month!  I had never heard of Fiat of Manhattan having any deals in the past and why this came up all of a sudeen. Aside from being verbally abusive and calling me "cheap" he could not answer any questions on why I was being notified 3 days before January 1st 2013 and told me to get the car out of there as soon as I can and provided no other support.

These are horrible business practices and leaves me no choice for a solution other than the Ripoffreport and the better business bureau.

Wheres the RIPOFF?

AUTHOR: NYCJohn - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 06, 2013

I read both of the above complaints and have to ask wheres the ripoff? Complaint #2 you were paying $127 to park in Manhattan for one year and half and you feel ripped off that they finally increased you! I would be thanking them for how long they kept my rate that low... now the party is over, if you don't like the new rate then leave. There are over 1000 parking garages in Manhattan. I know for a fact that Icon Parking charges $150 per month including tax to park a Fiat purchased from ANY Fiat dealer. Give them a call at 877-PARKING and stop complaining.

The same comment goes for Complaint #1, You had a good ride. You parked for $117 for 6 months. They told you if you want to continue parking, the rate would be going up. If you don't like the rate then move on.

QuikPark is ripping me off too!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

Hi John,
I've been with QuikPark since I bought my Fiat 500 back in 2011 and also signed up for the same webdeal. I've had no issues until now where they are hitting me with a $300 invoice. I was last paying $127.19! This is a 236% increase! I got the same explanation / non-explanation from Lisa Melendez of QuikPark.
When I signed up in 2011, I emailed QuikPark and spoke with their then rep, Mena who told me that I was still eligible for the $99+tax rate even though I didn't purchase my Fiat from Fiat of Manhattan but that I was only eligible for the first 6 months rather than 12 months that Fiat of Manhattan was advertising. She told me after the 6 months I would only be subject to the small % increase and that it would never skyrocket. I even emailed QuikPark and Lisa back with screenshots of their current advertising on their website that has the Fiat of Manhattan logo but absolutely NO indication that one had to buy their Fiat from that dealership. They wrote back in a quite ineligible manner holding their ground without acknowledging my argument.
This is absolutely outrageous and QuikPark is totally scamming Fiat owners.
I contacted AskAsa to see if he can do anything about this.
What is your status now and have you reached out to a lawyer yet?

Ripoff?

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

Do you have a contract or lease that says you can park there for $99 / mo. forever?  If so, then you have a case and you can hold them to the terms of the contract.

If you don't have a contract and you don't want to pay $400, you're now free to exploit the free market and find better rates from a competitor.

Since they haven't actually charged you $400, it's hard to call this a ripoff.  They've merely increased their prices, which any business is allowed to do.   While nobody likes seeing their own rates go up, it's a fact of life when you have no contract.   If $400 / mo. is truly an outrageous price, then you should have no trouble getting a better deal from the competition.
