RAMADA PLAZA RESORTS ORLANDO/FT. LAUDERDALE VACATIONS ripoff consumer fraud ripoff FT. LAUDERDALE Florida

I received a letter from the records department of The Ramada Plaza Resorts Orlando/FT. Lauderdale Vacations today 3/21/02. I called the number and the woman told me about the vacation package.

She said at the beginning of the conversation that I would need to pay $698.00 60 days before I decided to take the vacation. By the end of the conversation I asked her what I needed to pay today, she said $698.00, I told the lady I did not have that kind of money today but what I could pay is $50.00 dollars today and next week I could pay $200.00.

She said let me talk to the billing department what is your credit card number so I can let them know. I gave her my credit card number, she then put me on hold.

She came back to the phone and told me that they were able to get $349.00 off my credit card. I then told her how were they able to get that amount when I only had $200.00 in my bank account.

I told her I did not want that amount of money taken off my card, she said what if we drop $175.00 and keep $179.00, I told her NO I cannot afford that, she then put me on hold again and came back to the phone and said her billing department could not take less than $179.00 today.

I told her to cancel my stuff right now. She put me on hold again, she then came back and told me okay it was cancelled. I asked for some kind of confirmation she said she did not have any. I then called my bank and they told me that the company first tried taking $349.00 and it was declined, so they split the transaction in two parts $174.50 and $174.50. leaving me with a negative balance.

When I tried to call back they kept hanging up on me. I then spoke to a man that said his manager said the charge would fall off on the 26th of march 2002 because the corporate office has to contact me in order to process the charge.

My bank will not do anything without them calling and cancelling the charge.
