BUYER BEWARE: Do not buy horses/ponies from Red Oak Farms in Mullica Hill, NJ (Debbie Worek). She sold me a horse in October 2015 without full disclosure. We discovered he was purchased from a sport horse auction and from his reaction to human/ horse interactions, has most definitely been abused in his past. The bigger issue which is that he is plain DANGEROUS for the farrier. We had NO IDEA and contacted one of his previous farriers who said that they horse would routinely rear and knocked out barn lightbulbs @ Red Oak while being shod. It now takes our farrier, who is experienced with troubled animals, four hours and two tubes to tranq to shoe this horse. Debbie refused to take the horse back or refund me some of his purchase price for training. Unprofessional and we were all put in danger. BEWARE!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Red Oak LLC and Matrix

AUTHOR: Red Oak LLC - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 06, 2017

I have learned (September 2017) that Matrix has been sold and is doing fantastic in his new home with an experienced and knowledgeable owner and trainer.  His new owner told me they love his personalitiy and is doing fantastic.  He loves swimming. Matrix was going to be my daughters equitation horse and then my daughter decided to ride our home bred Iberian Warmblood in Jumpers.  That is the only reason Matrix was sold.  Matrix was not a dangerous animal and competed at many local and 4H shows with our lesson students.  Matrix did not like one of the farm farriers, we switched him to our other farm farrier and Matrix was much happier with a softer touch.  Matrix was never dangerous at our barn the entire time we owned him.  We did inform his new owners he was purchased at a Sport Horse Auction.

I have no knowledge of Martix ever being mistreated or abused.  Both my farriers say they have never mentioned that Matrix ever damaged property while being done.  He did rear up once the first time we put shoes on his feet.  He did not have much heal when we bought him and had put special wedges under his shoes for six months.  A seller can not guarantee how a horse will like or act in their new enviroment.  I sold the horse "AS IS" with no warranties or trial periods (I had offered a trial on my personal TB and she came back from a two week trial lame and was never sound again. She became a broodmare.). I offered the buyer the opportunity to come out and ride him several more times to make sure it would be a good fit.  The purchaser and her trainer said they loved the horse and they did not need to come out a second time.  The horse had a full pre-purchase exam performed with X-rays and passed with flying colors.  The vet even commented on how well mannered the horse was.
