Lauderdale Vacations stating that I won a vacation package. Vacation package included a cruise on the Imperial Majesty, 3day/2 night Orlando, 4 day/3 night Ft. Lauderdale, Aruba 4 days/ 3 nights, Williamsburg VA 3 days/ 2 nights, Las Vegas 4 days/ 3 nights. I only got to use the cruise! When I try to book reservations for any of the other trips by sending in the forms to the address that came with the packet they are just returned attempt not known. My brother originally bought this vacation and then offered to give it to me. Before I did any transferring of names, I looked through the promotional material that he had received. The dvd and pamphlets made it sound like a really great vacation for a really discounted price. It sounded like a great way to spend a vacation. However, I then went online to do some research on the company. When I typed their name into google I got a Ramada website, a Ramada Plaza Resorts website, and a slew of sites about how this whole package is just a huge rip off. I called my brother's girlfriend and asked how they had heard about this vacation. Apparently they had received some kind of solicitation by mail and decided to purchase the vacation. I asked if they had done any research on the company and she said that they just assumed it was okay because it had the Ramada name. I went to the official Ramada website and compared it to the Plaza resort's website, and was immediately suspicious. None of the affiliates listed on the Ramada site were listed on the Plaza website and there was no mention of the Wyndham Hotel Group through which all Ramadas are franchised. Also, the basic quality of the sites was significant. Ramada's site was well designed and professional looking, while the plaza's site looked like something that would be connected to a scam. I found a customer service number from the Ramada site and called to ask if they were at all affiliated with Ramada Plaza Resorts. The rep there confirmed what I had already begun to suspect: Ramada Plaza Resorts is piggybacking off the Ramada name and is in no way affiliated with Ramada or the Wyndham Hotel Group. After realizing this, I called the Better Business Bureau in Ft. Lauderdale. I asked them about the company and they strongly advised against doing business with them as they have over 1,000 claims with the bureau that have not been properly handled. They have an F rating with the bureau. You can check it out by going to www.BBB.org. When I confirmed that this was a no-good, lousy company, I started to look through the cancellation policies. In the pamphlet that my brother received there was information stating that after signing a customer agreement, they would have three business days after the company received the signed agreement to cancel. That would mean that they would have to send out their agreement and then send out the cancellation form immediately afterwards in order to cancel and receive a full refund. I tried to call Ramada Plaza Resorts and asked if there was any way that they would refund the money if I transferred the vacation into my name and then cancelled. The said that was impossible. They also said that there was absolutely no way that my brother would be able to get his money back that he put forward on this trip. That's where I am right now. I have no idea how to get him his money back at this point. I've done the research and now I'm stuck. I don't know how he purchased this trip, but if he purchased it through a credit card I know that he can dispute the charges. I purchased a Cruise vacation trip with Ramada Plaza Resorts in March of last year. I was confident that I was receiving a good deal because I previously vacationed in Florida with Ramada Plaza on a 5 day 4 night package for 48 dollars. The hotel was at least a 3 star. This deal included a 3 day/2 night Orlando, 3 nights carnival cruise to the Bahamas, 3 nights South Florida and as a bonus 4days/3 nights puerto Vallarta, Mexico and 3days/2 nights in Las Vegas for 2 people at $698 per person and 198 per additional adult and 99 per each child under 12. I would also get a free rental car for the entire vaction and all meals were included. I only had to pay the initial down payment (1 person at 698) and the other could be paid at the time of booking. I asked for explaination and the representative stated that I didn't have to pay for the other person/travelors until I sent in my reservation form which had to be submitted 60 days prior to travel. He also explained that I had 18 months to take the vacation but if there was a problem and I couldn't take it I could pay another fee to extend the vaction for another 18 months. I received a call in march of this year and at that time I paid the 89 dollars for the extention which is not suppose to expire until April 21,2008. Well to my surprise I received a call Saturday November 4, 2006 stating that my vacation expired October 20, 2006 and that I needed to pay the other 698 dollars for the other person. When I tried to explain that my husband and I have been separated for over a year and I didn't have another 698 dollars at this time he became agitated and rude. I asked if since the only other person that would be going on this vacation was my 4 year old if I could pay her fair of 99 dollars right now to show that I still planned on taking the trip expecially since I had already paid the 89 dollars to extend my time. He then stated that I needed to give him a valid credit card to hold it for 30 days or pay the remaining 698 right then or He was canceling my vacation and I would lose what I had already paid and he didn't care about the extention. Now I am frustrated because It does not state anywhere in any of the information that I received nor did any of the three representatives I've spoken with since the initial purchase state or say that if I had not paid for the entire trip before october 20th 2006 that it would be canceled and I would not be eligible for a refund. My husband and I received a telephone call alerting us that we were one of a few couples that had been hand picked to receive a vacation package from Ramada Plaza Resorts. They explained that we would receive 3 nights, 2 days in South Florida and a 4 night crusie aboard Carnival's Fascination Ship. We also would be entitled to a rental car for one week, and if we chose not to use the rental but to drive our own car that we would be reimbursed $100.00 for the gas for our own vehicle. We ALSO for being such great people would receive 3 nights in an Orlando Resort, and 6 BONUS vacations all over the country at any time that we chose to take them. We could give these to our kids or use them ourselves. My husband and I love to travel since we retired. We talked about it and then asked what the price was for this little vacation. We were told it was $ 898.00 plus we would have to pay the port charges for the cruise. We decided that it might be nice as we have family all over the U.S. and we could probably use the additional bonus vacations. So we booked. We tried to get reservations for the cruise for January 24, 2005 and were told that before we could take the cruise we had to stay at the Ramada Resort at 2419 E. Commercial Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale. We agreed and then I was told that our vacation was going to be expiring soon and if we would just agree to paying addtional monies for an outside cabin that he would throw in an 18 month extension on our package and a buy one get one free meal package. We liked the idea of an outside cabin and thought that we would like that, so I asked how much extra it would be? It was an additional $298.00, so we agreed that if we were going to get an outside cabin we would like it. At that point I asked what type of cabin it would be? He said to me spread your arms out wide and that is how big the window is in your cabin. I told my husband and he asked me where we would be on the ship? I asked the gentleman where our cabin would be and he said mid ship. I told him that we DID NOT want to be in the bottom of the ship, He PROMISED me that that was not where we would be. Not with a window like that!!! Well we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale on January 22, 2005 and were not greeted very friendly in the 'WELCOMING CENTER. We did however get checked in and get our paperwork. We then went to check in to our room. We were greeted by ANTS all over the beds and room. We called the front desk and told them that we had a very large problem, they were most gracious and told us to come right down to the desk and they would give us another room. To the desk we go and get another room. We walked in and my husband almost gagged! It stunk like vomit. Well down to the front desk we go again. Another room and it was fine. Clean and didn't smell. We settled in. We went to the restaurant for our two for one dinner. Well we ended up paying more for the one than most people did for two complete meals. They gave us the bill and had added on 7.5% meals tax and a 20% gratuity, for a BUFFET!!!! Then they subtracted the price of the 1 buffet. We were not happy. The next day we went to the wonderful lunch buffet and got the same ignored treatment from the waitress and today we were only charged an 18% gratuity. I was not a happy camper to say the least. But there was never anyone around at the cash register to ask. The following morning we were all eager with anticipation for the cruise and we went ONE MORE TIME for the breakfast buffet. Low and behold there was a Manager if you could call him that at the register. This morning we were only chaged 15% gratuity. So I went to him and asked why and how they could do this legally. His answer to me was cause thats the way we do it Well now I was really fired up and wanted to see someone in the Welcome Center to vent on. We ended up getting the attention of the Manager of the Ramada itself and he took us into his office and spoke with us very sincerely. He couldn't answer all of our questions but we truly felt he would take some time to investigate at least. Now on to the cruise ship. We get on the ship and were allowed to go to our room after 1p.m.. We get to our room and couldn't believe it. The LAST ROOM BEFORE THE BOILER ROOM, ON THE BOTTOM DECK!!! Mad you haven't seen mad. We did however have a very nice time on the Carnival Ship Fascination. The food and service was superb and the entertainment was great. We had a fantastic time when we weren't in our dungeon of a room. I have a call into the gentleman that I have been dealing with and do think I have received a call back? Not on your life!!! We have a letter into the company and I am contacting the attorney general for the State of Florida. These people need to be stopped. My boyfriend got a call last Aug.about a wonderful trip to Orlando Fl. 6 days 5 nights for $395.00. He came and ask me about it, I thought it sounded a little fishy and we really didn't have that much money to spare that month. So he got me on the phone and I spoke to a guy and he said we could have the trip for $198.00 with a 3 day 2 nights in LasVegas. Well that did should alittle better. Well now it is Feb. and my kids have spring break in the middle of March. I just got online a couple of weeks ago and never thought about looking up information on line. Let me tell you I was shocked at all the bad news on this scam. I have made the reservations about a week ago which costed $58.00. Which I understood when the guy explained that part to me. I am supposed to call them back Monday Feb.16 and they are suppose to let me know what hotel we have because I have friends that are going down with us and would like to try and rent a room at the same hotel. But I would hate for them to go and find out the hotel is not good. Can you please tell me what I need to do? We are suppose to leave March 16 and they told me that the paper work could take up to 10 to 15 days before we receive it. What is my next step before we really get more in the hole. I am a single mom and I was going to use my income tax on this trip for my kids that never really get to go anywhere until I met my boyfriend. I can't afford to fork out alot of cash and watch it go down the drain. So if there is anyone out there that can help me please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for reading this. I purchased 3 Ramada Plaza Resort cruise deal packages for myself, spouse and 4 children. We were placed, or attempted to place, in 3 separate Orlando Hotels. We had 3 rooms on 3 separate floors of the ship. The hot water was turned off as soon as we departed and there was no A/C in 2 of the 3 rooms. Just to let everyone know I got my friend to give me the package he put it on his credit card and then i paid him back. however when i saw this scam on our local tv station i decide to check this out and sure enough what a scam it is. I then decided to phone the 1-800 and i got some lady and i asked for a refund explaining to her i had to leave the country for 5-10 years... she said No but offered me a two for one airfare but i would have to travel to the nearest u.s. state to recieve it and a extended time to pay for the trip. Then i phoned back and got some guy and he told me the same speal. I am going to go to the bbb about this and figure out someway to get all my money back or else someone going to pay... you dont wanna mess with me trust me... I hope you dont do the same mistake i did its not really that great of deal in the end youll probably pay close to 2000 dollars... I spent almost an hour talking to these morons... We recieved a e-mail on our computer about a free vacation of 2 nights three days in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. All they ask is that we put a deposit down of $50 to ensure that we would show up. When my wife went to confirm our stay she asked if we were going to be on the beach and if possible facing the water. They told her all rooms facing the water were full and they would put us on a stand by list. They also stated that we would be at one of Ramada's hotels at the beach. It was not until a day before we left that they informed us that we would be staying another hotel off the beach. In fact the hotel we stayed at was a dump. We also was told we did not have to take a tour and when we arrived we were told other wise. In fact we had to put another $40 down to get our $50 back. To take this tour we had to travel about an hour from the hotel. While we were given back all our money the drive and tour took up all our time so it was not worth it and a waste of a vacation. Hey fellow victims! I was reading the complaints, but not many were of the actual trip being horrible, just every one freaking out because of the lawsuits two years ago. I'm out $600 bucks now because I was duped too. But I also am buying this trip for 3 of my friends. I even talked a friend into buying another package for her boyfriend's Christmas present. (Wow, am I an idiot!) Since I'm going to be responsible for a couple grand and 6 people National lampoon Ramada vacation, I figured we could make the most of it and take the trip. We'll just make absolutely sure of where well be staying and don't take any bull. This is my plan. For everyone who is suckered into this deal contact me. LET'S ALL GO DOWN TOGETHER! We can make it like a kind of support group ;) Hell, we can even all go down to their corporate office and protest after bingo on the boat! If we organize, we can get some real service. One way we can make the best of this trip is to get to know each other and make new friends! I too received a special offer available only to me, I could call once..I called. Yes, they force you to make a decision right on the phone right then and there. I was planning on giving this to my mother and her friend for a Christmas present in 2001., I purchased the packaged (2 at $ 698pp) - paid 100% for (1) $698.00...my mom's friend was to pay for the second person once I booked the trip. While going on line to book this I found all of the Consumer RIP OFF reports about this particular SCAM/RIP OFF. I am calling today to ask for a refund based on the information I have accumlated over the past several days. I doubt the RAMADA PLAZA RESORTS will accomodate my request. Imagine if I had sent my mom (who is 71 years old) and although in wonderful health and shape - is not a seasoned traveler - I cannot imagine the ordeal these people would have put her through!! She and her friend would have spent the worst 10 days of their lives-not to mention having a dreadful after holiday GETAWAY.. (after what I have read from several other individuals who were so unfortunate to have actually taken the trip). Is there nothing we can do to stop others - is this scam continuing through the US Mail? Has anyone filed a CLASS ACTION suit? Is anyone planning on filing a law suit? I will keep everyone posted on the outcome of my upcoming telephone conversation with these less than honest, truthful individual. One might think that after our disaster on 911 people such as these would no longer want to be ripping off their fellow Americans - I guess it's a matter of self worth and pride - some have none. Maybe these are the ones that god should have had visiting the WTC on 9/11/01. Harsh yes, but all the wonderful, heroic, kind, loving people we lost., and we are left with scums like these who care only about how much money they might make by ripping off well intentioned people. Yes, I want my money back - it is a scam, ripoff, and these individuals should be forced to reimburse the victims of there dishonest business practices. Thank you. Also, I am sending out a general email to avoid booking accomodations at all RAMADA Hotels worldwide. Part of my management responsibilities in a large International Sales Management firm is to assist with accomodations referrals. Guess who has been removed from our list of hotels? This word will go from Mass to RUSSIA to JAPAN to AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND and across the globe.

We recently purchased a so called luxury vacation from Ramada Plaza Resorts. After reading the feedback we decided that want our money refunded. We have made attempts to contact the resort but keep getting a busy tone. Can anyone give us any detailed or specific information on how to get our money refunded (i.e., what type of report(s) was sent to the attorney general's office)? I got a call from ramada plaza resorts, they offered me a vacation for 598 per person, which was 3 days in fort laderdale 3 days on a cruise to bahamas and 3 days in orlando, with 2 free passes to disney land, also free rental car service and 99 dollars extra for each child, the reason it was so chep is because they said it was a time share vaction, I thought it was to good to be true because I checked on what it would cost me to go if I booked everthing myself and it would have cost me 4,000 dollars, but now that I have read this, I am thinking twice, also I got 4 mini vactions, but they are to be givin to friends or relatives, not for yourself. I do not no who yall all talked to but I was told what was to be expected, I read some ones report that said that the 598 was for the both of you, they told me a piece, and that they did not no it was time share, well they told me it was, either someone did not pay attention or they got someone who was misleading. Thank you to everyone out there! This site saved my family and I thousands, although I have been scammed for $400.00. Two years ago while living in Las Vegas, Nevada I was contacted by Ramada Plaza Resorts; 2419 Commercial Blvd. Ft. Lauderdale, about a voucher that I had recieved for one of their fabulous vacations, and I fell for their sales pitch. I paid them them $400.00 in good faith hoping to do something nice for my family, although we couldn't really afford it. At one point I tried to get my money back but they refused and extended my vacation another 6 months. To make a long story short, I was planning to spend our family vacation money this year on this crap!! Again, thank you so much. I found this site because I was in search of a phone number or web address for them so that I could set up vacation plans and pay off my trip. Thank God that your site was listed just after theirs. Hello, I too was mislead and decieved by Ramada Plaza Resorts. I received the $1600 voucher in the mail in March 2005, I called the number and was suckered in by the supposedly wonderful package. My fiance and I are on a budget and figured this was a good way to travel and still stya within our price range. The package we got was for Ft. Lauderdale, 2 day cruise to the Bahamas, Orlando, Puerto Vallerto, Las Vegas and Williamsburg, VA. We put $698 as the initial down payment on the phone, because of course, if you hang up to think about it, you miss out. We were to pay the port taxes of $478 at least 2 months before traveling. When we received the additional package information in the mail about 2 weeks later, we didn't even look at it, as we had 18 months to travel. When we decided on a travel date and had the money to pay the port taxes, we called and scheduled our trip. This is when we were told about our sub-compact rental car; I'd never heard of such a class before! Anyway, I asked about cancelling at this point, I was told we were not able to cancel but could pick a different date, blah, blah, blah..... So, we paid for the remainder of the trip on June 10, 2005. I felt very uneasy by now and when I got off the phone, I immediately Googled Ramada Plaza Resorts and low and behold...all I found were reports after reports of people who'd been ripped off! I don't know why we didn't look online before, that was a huge mistake on our part. The next day I called the Ramada Plaza Resort number again and asked to cancel I was told that I couldn't, no supervisor was available, nor could I be upgraded. That evening I called my credit card company and disputed the two charges on my account. I located the letter used by Denise from Groves, TX on 10/14/2004. I altered the letter to fit my situation, leaving in all the legalese. I sent the letter certified to all the parties listed and also sent a copy to my credit card company. I actually booked this vacation and then cancelled within 2 hours. HOWEVER - I paid $798 and they said they would refund me $599. That $200 had already been paid towards the vacation and that I would still have 3 years that part of the vacation. I hate being scammed. Hello, I too feel for the Ramada Dream Vacations scam. I unfortunately did not check out this web site before calling them and booking my vacation. After I found this site, I called them and told them that I wanted a refund immediately. They of course, refused, BUT, told me that my whole FAMILY could now go for the original price that they quoted me for one person. I told them I didn't want a vacation, just a refund and wanted to talk to the President of the company. He of course, was unavailable. After being transferred around 3 times I hung up. THEY EVEN CALLED ME BACK, trying to get me to agree to letting my whole family go and to offer further vacation packages, I told them that I was recording their telephone conversation, as when you call they say that this call may be recorded or monitored. They didn't like the fact that they were being tape recorded. I finally ended up hanging up on them when they STILL refused to issue me a refund or to let me talk to a supervisor. I did what a girl on this web site had done, I wrote a letter to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service, Attention: Charles Bronson, Commissioner in Tallahassee Florida phone 1-800- HELP-FLA website address www.helpfla.com, I also wrote a letter to the Attorney General's Office in Florida, and then attached the two of these and wrote to the president of Ramada Plaza Resorts. Within ONE month, I recieved confirmation that my complaint was being taken care of by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and TWO days after I received that letter, I got a letter from Ramada Plaza Resorts, apologizing for any convenience that I had experienced and that they had refunded my credit card for the full amount. I called my credit card company to confirm this, and sure enough they did issue me a full refund. The day they refused my refund, I cancelled my credit card as I was afraid that they would put on further charges, and recieved a new card. They are a bunch of lying you know what's. Unfortunately, I have been taught a very valuable lesson. If something looks to good to be true, it usually is and never never never give your credit card to anyone that is demanding it right away or you'll lose your chance at this fabulous offer. I recieved a special offer, available to me only I could only call once, to be eligible for my special discount. They forced me to make a desicion on the phone right then. So I put down a 300 dollar deposit to insure my vacation. 3 weeks later, I recieved info on the package. I was not impressed, so I did further research on the company. They have several lawsuites against them, and the people who did take the vacation were not happy. SO I called and asked for my deposit back. I told them I was no longer comfortable with the purchase. They denied my request. So I'm stuck with a shitty vacation, that I do not want to take, and nobody wants to buy. I received what seemed an unbelievable offer and $1600 travel voucher. (Includes 'value' of bunus vacation, as Ramada defines it) After a little 'net' research, I called the 800 number they provided and proceeded to feign interest, and used about 30 minutes of 'their' time. What fun... I was shamming them, and they didn't know it for quite a while! I was asked to provide my name (already on the certificate), and phone number (in a public listing anyway), along with the so-called offer number (read tracking number for anyone who hasn't figured this out yet.) I did NOT provide any financial information. Research will uncover that the resorts they mention are really filthy, old, and at the end of serviceable life. The cruise ship is a derilict built in 1955, and retrofitted in 1994. The 'offered' cabin is an inside, read BOTTOM end on such an old ship. They WILL upgrade you to Carnival, but you pay the full fare for the cruise, and Carnival will sell you the same cruise for less money than Ramada's 'deal' price. You are required to pay for airfare and taxes, additional auto insurance, parking fees for the auto while cruising, and all meals while on land. Care for a drink on arrival... guess what, you'll pay for that as well. Simply put, this appears to be a horrible trip... you endure multiple selling attempts for timeshares, and receive the scum of the earth travel provisions in exchange. Do NOT provide any banking/financial information wahtsoever, but please feel free to do as I have, and call them to frustrate the salesperson with targetted questions (the ones they DON'T want to answer) and thoroughly waste an operators time. i purchased my trip thru ramada resorts at first they were very kind.until i called for a refund i explained in brief detail why i was not able to take the trip i was hung up on by karen who was rude when i asked to speak with a manager she then hung up on me again.i called back and spoke to a ronny he said i could not get a refund because my trip was paid in full. i called back again i was told by another young lady that i had just called and i still was not getting a refund i could write the attorney general or call whomever it wouldn't matter i was not getting a refund. i was told if i didn't cancell within 3 days due to illinois law i could not cancell.does il law have anything to do with a a trip i paid for to florida ? all i want is my $198 refunded i don't care what anyone says they don't explain all these things to you people work hard for there money without us ramada would not be in business please give me some advice.it has not been 30 days Shanta alsip, IllinoisU.S.A.
