Afni Collections rouge collection agency bloomington , Illinois
Do not sent these people any money.  I received a letter from the office of the attorney general in FL where I complained about the letter they sent me. First go here  http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/sampleletter9.txt  and send AFNI a letter like this certified mail.  I did that and I received a letter back from AFNI saying after further investigation into my account is closed.  The Attorney General in FL wants copies of my correspondence so they can use it against them in court.  Be sure to contact the Attorney General in the state you live in and the state AFNI sent the letter from.  Keep all copies of anything to do with this company.  It took about 16 months before I heard from the state of FL.  I was happy to supply them with my info.  Do not be afraid to stand up to these people.

Qwest - Afni Fraudulent debt sold to collections--possible credit issues Internet
details:  Qwest, through a 'company mistake', created a bogus account for my wife under her maiden name. Then sold it to a collections agency having never contacted her or myself after almost 6 years.  Finally, after speaking with a supervisor, the qwest agent explained that there was nothing he could do to help and reccomended that I call afni and tell them qwest had made a 'company error'.  when i called afni they indicated that they would begin an 'identity theft' investigation.  this week a recieved a letter stating that we were relieved of responsibility of the debt, with no further explanation. So I called qwest to try and figure out what had happened and hopefully let someone know that they needed to work on their customer service a little.  at the conclusion of a fairly pleasant conversation with justin from the boise office, it became apparent that the rep from my previous phone call was correct.  The official position of qwest was sorry for your luck.  after a little debate about consumer protection i decided to explore the issue a little further.  Upon discovering qwests sorted history I decided to contact the FTC, FCC my local PUC, and district attorney's office.  So far only the FTC has been helpful at all but we'll see. The whole experience made me go back over a previous rediculous dispute and I may have discovered that both my credit and my wifes credit were adversely affected by qwests false reporting.  I'll update as I find out more.

Afni Inc. Billing rip-off! Bloomington, Illinois
Afni Inc. has contacted me through the mail with a settlement of half of a bill I never incurred. The bill is question is for $672.80 and they (Afni) are willing to settle for half, on behalf of AT&T Mobility.  I find that Afni is the subject of multiple lawsuits for fraudulently insisting and demanding payment on bills that are often times settled between the consumer and the original reporting company. Afni insists they've sent several letters to me over a 9-year period -- yet, somehow, they seem to not know where I live until now, so when I questioned the supervisor, Tony, he couldn't provide any information other than that I had 'apparently' used the service (through Cingular) and defaulted on payments when I cancelled the contract in 2002. I had cellular phones through AT&T in 1998 and returned them within the 30-day period (as agreed to in the money-back policy) because the phones kept dropping calls. How could I have a contract four years after I settled the problem unless AT&T didn't do their paperwork? If AT&T can't do their job, it's not on me to pay back for something I don't own. AFni is not supposed to be collecting on a debt that never occurred, but they will let me know within 30 days, because I disputed the claim.

AFNI Collections agency or scam artists? Bloomington, Illinois
I received a collection notice from AFNI a year or so ago regarding a Verizon account (DSL).  The amount owed was supposedly from some years previous to that, 2006 I believe.  I never had a service interruption due to nonpayment, and I had the same service until I was sold to Frontier.    AFNI told me that Verizon would have deleted any relevant information once they sold the debt, and that Verizon could do nothing to help me.  I still attempted to fight and dispute the collection notice.  However, since Verizon had no records of the matter, I had no way to prove that I didn't owe the money.  After more than a year of trying to dispute the debt, AFNI offered me a settlement amount.  I just wanted to be done with the whole thing so I paid it.  Payment was a mistake! Now I have a brand new collections notice from AFNI for another supposed Verizon debt.  Since I was sold to Frontier over a year ago, it must be another old debt.  I should never have given this company my information, as I now believe I will be in for endless collection notices from a fraudulent company for bogus debts.

AFNI, INC. Illegal re age on credit report Bloomington, Illinois
I accessed my husbands credit report today and discovered an item being reported by AFNI, INC.  The item is an old cell phone account that should be reporting as opened in 2007 and last paid in 2008 but by some strange magic Afni is reporting it as opened 5-2010. The balance is also considerably higher than what was owed to the original creditor. Good news Afni! I am a debt collector. You may be able to pull this kind of garbage on the average citizen who doesn't know any better but it won't fly with me.  I'm extremely excited to use my knowledge of collections to teach a lesson to an unethical agency. Will post updates on progress.

AFNI Collections Reporting false debt, Scam, Illegal debt collection attempt Internet
Afni collections sent a letter dated 02/07/2012 stating I had an outstanding debt of $217.53 with T-Mobil and demanding payment. The date of the alleged contract with T-Mobile and/or delinquency is no given, nor is the alleged phone number (contract) that supposedly incurred the debt. The verbiage in the letter is vague, features spelling and grammatical errors, and includes no other information that would lend to credibility or validity. BOTTOM LINE - I have never had a contract with T-Mobile. As I have never had a contract with T-Mobile, I cannot owe them money.  This is a fraudulent attempt to scare recipients into paying debt they do not owe, something that AFNI has verifiably been doing since the mid 2000s. It is illegal. I will be informing them the debt is invalid pursuant to Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b).  AFNI has a long and very well established history of not providing verification or judgement letters, so we shall see how this plays out.

AFNI ripoff - ANDERSON FIN NETWORK violated the law! ripoff Bloomington Illinois
On Wednesday, June 19, 2006, I ordered a copy of my credit report from the three reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. When I received them, I found two collection claims in my report from AFNI, Inc. which don't belong to me. The collection claims were for the following accounts: Cingular Cingular Acct # xxxxxxxxxx Acct # xxxxxxxx Balance $904.00 Balance$715.00 On September 11, 2006 I called Cingular to find out more about those two claims erroneously posted to my credit report. I spoke to the Customer Service Representative by the name of Melissa Garza. She did not find any accounts under my name, address nor social security number. She then referred me to her supervisor Luis Garza to take a look at the issue. Mr. Garza did not find anything either. The both advised me to contact the collection agency that posted the claims (AFNI, Inc.) and have them address the problem. That same day, September 11, 2006 I contacted Equifax and I explained to them the situation of two collection claims on my credit report that did not belong to me. They told me they would investigate the matter and gave me a reference number to follow up (Claim # xxxxxxxxxx). After finishing my call with Equifax, I called the collection agency, AFNI, Inc. and I spoke to someone by the name of Jorge Dominguez. I informed him that I wanted to get more information about the two collection claims posted in my credit report by them. He asked me if my Social security number was xxx-xx-xxxx and I said no. He then asked me if my date of birth was September xx, 1xxx, to which I also replied No. I explained to Mr. Dominguez that I was not the person that those accounts belonged to because none of the information matched my own. I requested to speak to a supervisor and I was transferred to Araceli Correa (Her phone # is 888-484-2407) to whom I explained the situation as well. I told her that I was not the owner of the Cingular debts. Besides the fact that I've never had service with Cingular, none of the information for the Cingular accounts matched my own (SS#, name, address, etc.) Ms. Correa sympathized but said that in order for them to remove the collection claims; I had to prove my identity. They asked me for a copy of my ID and a police report for the last two years(prove of adress). Today, September 18, 2006 I received a report from Equifax stating that those accounts posted on my credit report had been removed (deleted) and if I had any questions about those accounts I needed to contact AFNI, Inc. They violated the law .Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, collectors may not: * give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau; (AFNI DID IT) Sincerely JOSE MARTINEZ I AM GOING TO FOLLOW SOME OF THESE STPES What can you do if you believe a debt collector violated the law? A group of people also may sue a debt collector and recover money for damages up to $500,000, or one percent of the collector' s net worth, whichever is less. AFNI Fraudlent All Tell Account Bloomington Illinois
In August 2007 I received a statement in my maiden name (which I haven't used in 10 years) from AFNI alleging I owed $163.66. I wrote a letter asking for copies of applications, signature and picture ID's used to verify the account. I have never even had an All Tell account! 6 weeks later I receive a computer general letter with the original creditors name, address, account and balance (80.00 higher than previous), but nothing that I requested. So, I sent a certified letter requesting this information and reminded them that if this were a judicial matter, they would have to come up with the info. I also sent a copy of the Fair Debt Collection Practices codes and a letter from an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission (which I found online) as a back up. In February, I received yet another statement of the alleged balance and this time they were offering to accept half of the balance to settle the account. I have never contacted them verbally as I choose not to be harrassed, as I also know this will sometimes reopen the statutes. As of today, I am filing a complaint with all of the statement, letters to the Attorney Generals office in the State of Florida and Illinois. Lynn Winter Haven, FloridaU.S.A.

Afni, Want settlement for a disconnect fee on Verizon Bloomington Illinois
I received a collection letter from Afni, Inc, stating it was a settlement offer on a Verizon North disconnection notice. Of course they offered to settle for half the account balance. The phone was a teen phone installed in the 1980's. The phone was shut off in the mid 1990's. We had received nothing about this until yesterday. I called Verizon, which was a waste of time. I called Afni and the man refused to talk to me since my kids names were on the account. Needless to say I said more than I should have and hung up. At no time in the 10 or more years did Verizon send us a statement or call us on this. Upset Harrisburg, IllinoisU.S.A.

Afni Ripoff and Fraudulent Billing $1474.72 Bloomington Illinois
I received a collection bill from Afni inc, dated Jan 2, 2007 for the amount of $1474.72 from the original creditor Verizon Communications, Inc. that was opened by someone else on my name back in 6/2000-9/2000 in West Covina, CA that I have never lived in. I contacted Verizon to verify the phone number that is listed in the collection bill, but I was told that they cannot view past 3 years. Verizon representative told me to contact Afni for further info and also gave me Afni phone number that they have it in the list. I called Afni and I was very surprised to hear my SSN and my mother name. Where are all these infos come from ?. Is Verizon acting as a culprit for selling my personal info to 3rd parties ?. After reading many other Afni ripoff reports, I know that this is a fraudulent billing. What should I do to dispute the debt and how to sue them ?. Your suggestion or any detail info is greatly appreciated ! Chris Northridge, CaliforniaU.S.A.
