DELL ripoff WEB WEB INTERNET
I have Two Dell computer systems and I paid the extra for the so called Dell Support. and that is a joke. I would ask a simple question like What is the suggested refresh rate for my type of monitor and the reply a few days later would be a automated one saying my email was recieved and then a day or two later I would get a reply from a so called tech agent who would ONE get my name wrong and I mean my name is William on all the warrenty info and he would call me Dave, Mike, etc and then he would give advice based on a different computer system. I would reply and correct him and then he would reply and say they dont have that monitor so I would go to the Dell site find it and send him the link and then he would reply with: I didnt mean we dont have it I meant you dont have it. Once again after I proved him wrong he would say that wasnt what he meant either and that what he meant was I should run a Dell Diag scan. What is there problem PLUS every time I sent something it was handled by a different person so the confusion would get even worse. My favorite part is when the different tech agents start saying things like I dont know why the other one had you do that lets change that back and then we will try something else. I even had one say Dont worry if we screw it up we can always reformat WHAT! and I hate to say this but that is one of the better problems I have had with that company. DELL COMPUTERS ripoff DALLAS Texas
This is the 2nd notebook I bought from them and this one also has a defective power cord/adapter The last one caused a fire. I have been calling them for 3 weeks about the problem and got no reply. They never answer the phone or emails. I finally got a guy today and he kept me on hold for 3 hours and then hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. The power adapter is a known issue with Dell. It was in the news and in consumer reports magazine that their cords are defective and can cause fires. All I want is a new power adapter and cord. I paid $900 for the notebook and after 2 months use,it is useless because the battery is discharged and I have no way to recharge it. I had mine a little over 2 months when it started overheating and blowing the circuit breaker and it won't recharge the battery in the computer because it heats up the minute I plug it in and the green light goes out. ALL I WANT IS A DARN POWER CORD AND ADAPTER AND NO ONE WILL ANSWER MY EMAILS FOR A MONTH AND NO ONE WILL ANSWER MY CALLS. They do this on purpose so the warranty will run out BUT this cord is known to be defective N in d, UtahU.S.A.

DELL FINANCIAL ripoff Round RockAustin Texas
Dell Financial called us about 6 months ago saying that we were about to be late with a payment, for an extra $10.00 they did a check by phone. That payment was never made! So, for 6 months not only have I been getting phone calls at work, they also call on Sundays and Holidays.I have been making my payments for almost 1year, my wife finally dug up what I owe, the same as when I bought it!In other words Im paying the 30% interest rate. 2 months ago I was tired of the calls and had just made a payment, the lady on the other end stated that for $28.00 I would be out of the rears, no more calls. Not 2 weeks later I get a call, I was Misinformed he says! Please put an end to the madness! Chad Bethlehem, PennsylvaniaU.S.A.

They've not sent me rebates. I haven't even taken the computer and componets out of their boxes. Yes, I looked every where for the rebate forms. I tried to enroll (at the beginnig) for auto withdrawal from my checking account only to have them asses a late charge claiming it never happened. Dell Misconduct Round Rock Texas
October 15, 2005 Federal Trade Commission and Attorney General Complaint Division Consumer Protection Division CRC-240 State of Texas Washington, D.C. 20580 PO Box 12548 Austin, Texas 78711-2548 Complaint Against Dell, Inc. One Dell Way Round Rock, Texas 78682 Re: Purchase of Dell Computer Willful Breach of Extended Warranty Contract and Gross Misconduct On January 21, 2004, I purchased an Inspiron 5150 Laptop from Dell Computers . I received this computer in February approximately the 4th. On September 8, 2004 I purchased a 3-year extended warranty which included 24/7, on-site warranty service . At the time I purchased this warranty I was required to read and agree to the terms and conditions of that warranty . My first complaint against Dell is that when I printed the terms and conditions, Dell willfully and purposely omitted Dell's name, the date of the print-out date (which is usually on the lower right-hand corner of documents printed) and which gives me no recourse as proof of time I printed it out. This is clearly gross misconduct on the part of Dell since they have the ABILITY to change their data to read anything they choose to put into a consumer's file. However I have enclosed a certification' by me as to when and what the terms and conditions stated at the time I purchased the warranty on 9/8/2004. It took Dell approximately 8 months to even acknowledge in their records that I purchased the 3-yr. Extended Warranty including 24/7, on-site service. Now during the time I had to call Dell support - which was approximately 8 times - regarding replacing the original hard drive, I requested on-site warranty service. Dell support REFUSED to honor my request for the on-site warranty service. REFUSED. When I finally got Dell to send me a replacement hard drive it was NOT a new hard drive but rather a refurbished hard drive. In the mean time I have sent Michael Dell, CEO, a certified RRR letter notifying Dell of my complaint and proposed resolution. No response. Please note that on the printed terms and conditions that I received on 9/8/2004, states that I was given a Total Satisfaction Return Policy in effect on the date of the invoice. Now my computer does not work properly since the (refurbished) hard drive was installed. Note that all software was properly installed. Dell had to be requested to resend the OME disc for Windows XP, and re-send the Word Perfect OEM disk. They in no way attempted to send these disc's without my asking several times on support calls. It was like pulling teeth. Every step of the way has been like pulling teeth with Dell. On October 15, 2005 I sent an email to Dell Support advising them that now the only solution is to invoke the terms of my warranty in that I want this computer returned for a brand new Inspiron 5150. Dell has been notified. Two things have happened here that I consider misconduct. 1. Dell breached 24/7 on-site service and 2. Breached my warranty by not giving me Total Satisfaction Return Policy' according to the terms and conditions provided to me on 9/8/2004, a copy of which is attached. The most serious problem I have with Dell is that they purposefully prevent documents printed from their web-site showing a specific time and date. By this omission, it allows Dell to alter their documents and to reword, or omit, original information any time at will. This is misconduct at the highest level and the State of Texas Attorney General should investigate this and demand that Dell make available times and dates information is printed from their web-site. As of this day and date, Dell, Inc. has refused communications and to reply to my request to have this computer returned and replaced with a new Inspiron 5150 as was granted by the terms and conditions I agreed to on September 8, 2004. I am asking that the state's attorney general investigate and be involved in this complaint and respond to this complaint. Signed Carole Enclosed Exhibits (4) Copy mailed to: Michael Dell, CEO Dell, Inc. One Dell Way Round Rock, Texas 78682 Certification I, Carole xxx do hereby certify that the Terms and Conditions and Agreement attached to this certification was printed at the time of purchase of the Extended Warranty, including 24/7, on-site service. It includes the language which I accepted at the time of purchase. I also certify that information printed from Dell's web-site did not produce a date at the bottom right-hand corner of the document. Dell Canada ripoff Round Rock Texas
Have you ever bought an electronics item that you were sure would be great until you find something wrong with it or you need to ask a question from someone at the company and get it rectified or fixed and or replaced, well this didn't happen with what happened to me with Dell Canada. I had bought a Dell inspiron 6000d with a 1.6 GHz 533 MHz frontside bus computer. Well it started with me finding out the frontside bus is actually dictated by the ram speed, meaning that if the ram has a frequency of 400 MHz the frontside bus will achieve 400 MHz and if the ram frequency is at 533 MHz the frontside bus is actually 533 MHz and this was confirmed by the Dell tech's. I had called Dell Canada to ask why my computer did not come with the frontside bus that it shows on it's website by putting in the appropriate ram in for it to achieve the frontside bus speed of 533 MHz in which I had spent more money for the more expensive intel chipset for my computer. I spent over 47 hours on the phone with their customer relations telling me that they would fix it for me and the order for the proper ram would be sent out to me after I talked to their tech support. Then they changed their minds and decided not to send out the 533 MHz ram to replace the 400 MHz ram that was sent with my system. They then told me they would fix it after arguing with them for two weeks and then they changed their minds again. I talked to a tech support who stated he was a customer service rep and he then yelled at me and called me an idiot I then yelled back and he threatened to hang up on me if I didn't stop yelling back at him after he had already done it to me and called me names. No one has apologized for this and an e-mail from another rep isn't an apology it's them hiding in their hole. No one tried to help and if they did try to help me they got shut down for even trying to help me out. They don't return my calls and as soon as they find out who I am they hang up on me, for a company that bases all of their sales on the fact that they have award winning customer service well I never even closely had any service all I got were lies, more lies and to top it of they insulted me and my intelligence. I have read through their rules and regulations and they followed none of them in my case. They aren't award winning they are the worst company for helping anyone. All I did was ask a question and they didn't even answer it for me and because is not an answer. I hope that Michael S. Dell is happy with the fact his company is gonna go from great to the worst. And if he reads this then maybe doing something about this kind of crap and treating people like crap should be rectified. Philip Airdrie, AlbertaCanada

i ordered a Dell computer series 4550 Dimension on 02/09/03. It was suppposed to have the new thin, flat monitor as well as a lot of other bells and whistles. You would think at right at $1400, correct? I was told it had a $200 rebate as well. I was promised delivery within 15 days at the most. When I had not received anything by the 25 I CALLED THEM AS I HAD OVERNIGHTED A CASHIERS CHECK TO PAY FOR IT IN ADVANCE. It was determined after two days and many phone calls the check had arrived but had not been credited as the lacked the order for it somehow. This was straightened out and again promised computer within 5-10 days. Receive computer way after promised time with clunky old style monitor and it would not connect to internet. Spent 6 hours on phone with service the 5th time after having it a week and it was determined buy them there wasn't a modem installed???? They sent another one and offered me a Lexmark printer to make up for inconvience at no charge. They had sent me a web cam to make up for first mix up. Well I got the printer before I got the second tower. When I did get tower it took many hours on phone with service and MSN service as well before we finally got it reconfigured to work actually to then find out free printer didn't have neccessary drivers to make it work. Again hours on the phone. With 2nd printer was return shipping material to return first printer which I did. Was told then that rebate was only $70 and that I got the monitor I had ordered, end of discussion. After all they had lost the original order so they couldn't be wrong again, right? Computer was and is a dog, so slow it is unbelieveably. My 10 year old Packard Bell was quicker and better I believe. If I'm on internet and have three screens open I only have 42% of resources left free. This was order # 238931480, by the way. It most time won't let me close windows and quite often drops to 30% free if checking email. Tired of fighting I determined to live with it and make it work somehow. Sent in rebate form for $130 less than I was promised which I have yet to receive and shortly I get a bill from some other company for close to $200 for second printer. Last I heard they were going to sue me for it. Have already sent Dell all paperwork proving first was returned at their request, demand would be more like it really. So I didn't get the monitor I ordered, it took two towers for one to work and two free printers to make up for agravation which I have one of and am being sued for the other so what's free? The camera was broke when it got here and has never worked and I never got any refund on the computer purchase. So, I never got what I was promised and paid big time for and what I do have can't be working correctly and be this s - l - o - w and using up so much resources doing nothing. I've written 4 or 5 letters and never received anything, not my letters back or a reply. Oh, but I did get what I had been wanting for years, A Dell computer, right? My lesson learned? Be careful what you wish for as you may just get it. Brandy Evanston, WyomingU.S.A.

Dell SmartStep CoverUp Round Rock Texas
After I bought the System It was discontinued from production and Sell within a Week, This makes it obvious that Dell knew of the problem and I had no previous warning. After about 4 Months of Using I had noticed previously the System was Seriously Overheating yet there wasn't much I could do. Within the Next Month The System would randomly shut down from being overheated and it happned more frequently, by 07/15/2003 the System had over heated itself so bad it caused damage to one of the internal components inside causeing it not to operate properly. After waisting many calls to Dell I have been sent two other SmartSteps that do the same thing if not even operate for more than 4 min at a time before shutting down, when I gave Dell $2,000 They did not mention this at all. But being the Biggest of Fraud, Their Technical Rep Promised me that they would Ship out a System that was NOT a SmartStep and they have admitted it happned but refuse to follow through with their Promises leaving me with a $2,000 LapTop that can't do much more then word Proccessing for more than 5 min at a time. On June 18, 2004 I placed an order for the Dell Inspiron 8600 using the finance option (Dell Preferred Account also known as DPA. I was granted $5000 of credit and still had $3300 remaining after the order. The order was flawless, shipped quickly, received brand new and fully function; no hassles what so ever. On June 26, 2004, I wanted to purchase another notebook, Dell Inspiron 9100 along with a wireless router and card for the Inspiron 8600, which totalled to $1793.65. Everything was looking good until June 28, 2004, I checked the order status and it had been cancelled. I was shocked and contacted customer service and they told me that I had to wait in 24-48 hours in order to reorder because there was nothing they can do about it. The next day, I didn't see my credit for their cancellation and contacted them through the community boards. One of Moderators was very helpful and had Dell Financial Services (DFS) credit my DPA. I was relieved and happy to have such quick and efficient service. Thinking that everything is back to normal, I placed reordered the Inspiron 9100, the wireless router, and the card, but once I clicked Submit, I received a message saying that I could not pay using my DPA at this point. I told the Moderator about the situation and told me she contacted DFS and stated that my DPA had been blocked. This left me confused. I called DFS and I was told that I had to verify in order to be unblocked. I was transferred to be verified but I was running late for an appointment and asked if I can undergo the verification process later. I was told I could and was given a number where I can request to do so. I called back on my cellular phone, gave them the information they asked for and was told that I could not do the verification process due to a previous verification. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What previous verification? Wasn't I just told that I could call back? Why would I have to go through a verification process if I received a notebook from them a week ago without any hassle? This is actually a summary of how I received much of the information of the account. It took about 12 phone calls, 8 message boards discussions, and 1 web chat help to find out that DFS had cancelled my purchase. If there was really something wrong with my account, I should have been notified at the purchase of the Inspiron 8600, contacted by phone and email rather than to cancel the entire order. My current next move is to hear from DFS via email. DFS over the phone was not helpful, instead they were misleading. Jessica Union City, CaliforniaU.S.A.

Dell Computers ripoff Multiple Texas
A few months ago, in response to t.v. ad and lies from their sales reps I purchased a laptop Dell computer. They assured me that for an added fee I would be purchasing a 1 day in home tech support service should my computer have any problems. Dell deducted $1122.91 from my bank account and a few weeks later the computer would be delivered. It had all kind of problems for which I called for tech support. After 2 hours on hold I was connected to a telephone tech support person who would try unsuccessful to talk me through efforts to correct the problems. This was not successful and so I again requested their in-home tech support, only to be informed that Dell - had no such thing as in-home tech support. I explained that I had a few hundred dollars for just such nonexistent service but to again be informed that they had no in-home tech support. I explained that the computer was of no value as it was and that I was, and promptly did, repackage it and sent it back with a delivery conformation returned to me. Almost 2 months later Dell would re-deposit to my bank the amount of $769.69. They decided to keep $350. Perhaps they felt I wanted to keep their nonexistent ant in-home support services even without the computer. I phoned Dell and after more long delays delays I was informed that Dell had no records of my purchase or return. D. H. Eureka, CaliforniaU.S.A.

I bought a Dell Computer two years ago. It has never functioned properly. When I tried to return it I waw always referred to technical support, with poor results. I've contacted the company numerous times by phone and by email. Always the same outcome, the sounds do not work on this computer. The only sound I hear is an annoying beep everytime a dialog box opens, even though I am using the 'no sounds' profile in the control panel. Finally, I filed a complaint with the BBB, and received a call from Dell to resolve the matter. They sent a new sound card, but as yet I haven't been able to get my point of contact in support to resond for installation. I was promised that this person would either get the sounds fixed or Dell would send a technician to my home. So far, neither of these two scenarios have occurred, though I have left several phone messages for the technician. Everytime I try to get in touch with another person to handle the matter I get the run-around. Wen I ask for a supervisor, I am told s/he is in a meeting. When I ask for that supervisor's supervisor, I am told they are all in meetings. As for email, whenever I have written to Dell's online support service, a redundant slew of messages arrive in my inbox directing me to read the information sheet on the Dell website. I own a few computers from different manufacturers. The Dell is the lemon. All the others have been reliable. K LA, CaliforniaU.S.A.

I have had my computer and have tried numerous times to do a pay off of the balance, because I am billed each and every month a finance charge. My payment is approximately $30.00 a month. They add in late fees just about every month of $35.00 plus on top of that the new finance fee of $23.78, so as I wrote to make a deal to pay off they are not accepting the deal of my balance to be cleared of $800.00. Each month I pay 30.00; they add in 23.78. I see only getting credit of about $6.00. I have been paying on this 800.00 computer for 2 years now and my balance is now 1000.00. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get their attention besides stopping payments. I have written several times and called a million times and always end up in India customer services. On October 15th 2004, I contacted a sales representative at Dell for some information only. I wanted to know if Dell had memory to upgrade my computer, and if so, how much was it. Specifically I was looking for a PRICE QUOTE on a 256 MB memory module. I made it abundantly clear, several times, to the rather pushy representative that I was NOT making a purchase at this time. He asked if he could call back at a later time to see if I would change my mind. I said that he could check back with me. He never did. I assumed that was the end of the matter, but I was STUNNED to discover that a package had arrived from DELL on 10/19/2004. The package contained (2) 512 memory modules! I was shocked! I specifically told the rep that I was NOT making a purchase! I checked my DELL PREFERRED ACCOUNT and discovered that my account had been charged $669.29! In my conversation with the rep I never even mentioned my DELL CHARGE ACCOUNT! He took it upon HIMSELF to place an order, for quadruple the amount I inquired about, and charge my account WITHOUT ANY AUTHORIZATION WHATSOEVER! So far, I have sent 2 emails to the company, but all I get in response is some non-relevant computer generated automatic response. On 10/19 I spent (4) hours trying to contact a rep at DELL to help me. I was bounced from department to department and hung up on several times. It seems that only the CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN HANDLE THIS ISSUE, and it is not possible to get through to them. I was on hold for 30 to 45 minutes at a time, but no one ever answered in that department. It seems that for some strage reason they only respond quickly when you call the 'new sales' line. We have been making payments on our computer regularly for the last three years. All checks have cleared. They keep telling us that we are three payments behind. We have called them more times than I care to count and getting bounced around from person to person to person (and lucky if we got one that talked english) nothing was taken care of. Then I started getting the threatening phone calls. After talking with someone in Texas they said that we would have to send a copy of all the checks to prove that we are telling the truth. Well, we did that, TWICE. Yet we have not had the problem corrected. Now I got a letter in the mail yesterday from a collection service. I am so fed up I could just explode. While Dell computers are good, I will never ever buy another one again. I have been telling everyone I no as well as those I don't know about all of this and forwarn them about the extremely crappy business dealings of this company. I guess my next step is to get an attorney involved. Remember to those who read this, NEVER BUY FROM DELL, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!! Michele Sheboygan, WisconsinU.S.A.

I called Dell and they had no record of any order being made. I checked with my band and the check had been paid. I called Dell several times and talked to several different people. I got the run around in a big way. I am supposed to get my money back but I'm beginning to wonder now.The last person I talked to told me to call back and he'd make me a deal on the computer and he is in customer care not sales. I even talked to a supervisor and got a the run around from him. I am going to write several letters to Dell and see if I can get one to Michael Dell too. I am PO'd to the max. I thought this was a reputable company but I'm finding out differently. I was proud that this was a Texas company but not now. I am totaly embarrased that this is even associated with Texas. DELL rip-off Internet
I thought I made a great decision when I choose to update my PCS and of all brands I choose Dell, what a dissapointement I been having problems I did not even know existed from day one.I was very reluctant of purchasing the 3 year tecnical support but they convince me and now I feel so helpless I bet they even laugh every time a call. And then if that was not enough I bought from them my printer and now it happens to be it is not compatible for the system I purchase. The wasted hours with incompetant and unprofesional personel from Dell is imposible to deal with. The computer component service keeps getting disable for no reason at all.I,m just afraid that at the long term I,m going to have to pay to get the system to work or just get rid of my new PCS and buy another one. melissa staten island, New YorkU.S.A.

DELL COMPUTERS-
I PURCHASED A COMPUTER FROM DELL ON 10TH SEPT 01 FOR 1,035. I WAS SENT THE WRONG SYSTEM AND IMMEDIATELY ASKED FOR AN EXCHANGE. I WAS TOLD THAT TO EXCHANGE THE SYSTEM TO WHAT I ORIGINALLY ORDERED IT WOULD COST AN EXTRA 200, I REFUSED AS THIS WAS OVER MY BUDGET. I AND MY ORIGINAL SALESMAN AGREED THAT I COULD HAVE A REFUND AND THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD BE COLLECTED FROM MY HOME ADDRESS WITHIN 3 DAYS....5 MONTHS LATER THE COURIERS HAVE COLLECTED THE SYSTEM AND I HAVE FINALLY RECIEVED MY REFUND. I CALLED THEM ATLEAST 3 TIMES A DAY, ALMOST EVERYDAY IN WHICH I HAVE BEEN IGNORED, GETTING THROUGH TO ONLY ANSWER MACHINES AND I HAVE BEEN PASSED ON TO OTHER STAFF. I HAVE ALSO MANAGED TO GET THROUGH TO 5 DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT STAFF WHO HAVE ALL LIED TO ME. IT HAS BEEN SO VERY DIFFICULT TO SORT THIS MATTER OUT AS THEY ARE BASED IN IRELAND AND I ORDERED FROM THE UK. I AM NOW TAKING THIS MATTER TO THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT TO CLAIM BACK THE INTEREST THAT THEY HAVE MADE ON MY MONEY FOR ALL THIS TIME! MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO BUY GOODS FROM A COMPANY THAT HAS AN OFFICE BASED NEAR TO YOU SO IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE. AND REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO CLAIM ANY INTEREST THAT THEY MAKE ON YOUR CASH.

Dell Computers deceptive sales ripoff internet Internet
Dell Computers employs a fraudulent sales practice to get your business. I presented Dell with a list of 'must haves' for my home/office system. I was given a price based upon my list. My list included 'Office 2000', as necessary software. The salesman assured me that I would get everything I asked for, then gave me a very good price. I bought the system, but when I installed it, I found that Office 2000 was completely missing. I called the company immediately to complain, and have them send the disc to me, but they looked at the order written up by the salesman, and saw that he NEVER INCLUDED THE SOFTWARE I REQUESTED on the invoice. They refused to provide me with it, and refused to take the computer back and issue me a refund. Instead, they DEMANDED $300 MORE, FOR SOFTWARE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE!!! It is abundantly clear that the salesman got my business by giving me a false estimate. He then wrote the order without the software I asked for, and denied any knowledge of my request, even though he had been given my list. I have since heard that this is NOT AN UNCOMMON PRACTICE for Dell. They get your business by giving very low estimates, then ship the unit without everything you asked for. They then refuse to issue a refund, since everything that was WRITTEN on the invoice by the salesman has been shipped. When you complain, they demand more money to 'solve' the problem. DELL Ripoff Round Rock Texas
I ordered my 2 Dell computers in December 2004. There are several acct.numbers because I ordered 2 computers and a router. The computers were refurbished. I ordered new computers and that is not what I received. I was not aware of this until I started to have hard drive problems in October 2005. I needed another hard drive. Thats when I found out my laptop computers were refurbished, so was the replacement hard drive. Replacement # 64090626 and case # 115159133. Both computers have electrical problems. I now have a computer that does not even boot. I spoke with Brenda last week in corporate and she says nothing can be done. I was mislead from the start when I bought these laptop computers and now I have had to buy a new computer(not a Dell) to replace a 1200.00 machine. It has not even been 2 years and I feel Dell should replace my motherboard for me for free. They said it would cost 480.00 plus shipping and handleing. If you check dells website this Inspiron 5160 has had nothing but problems. I am not the only person with problems like this. Also their customer service hung up on me several times. I don't know where else to turn. I don't have cash to throw away on products that don't do what they promise. A computer should last for more than 10 months before it needs service. My sons computer is a Insperon 1000 and he has replace his electrical outlet twice. It was his christmas gift for 2004. Some gift. Mary Beachwood, New JerseyU.S.A.
