Xlibris Publishing Comapny Paid this so-call publishing company to reprint a revised edition. I never received a corrected copy. This comapny is a fraud. Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
Xlibris Publishing Company promised to publish a book that I had written. There were a constant problem. We agreed on a price, but they were extremely difficult to work with. When a correction needed to be made they could not/would not make the correction, or if they did it was inexcusable. They would constantly appoint a new person in charge, therefore creating havoc and intolerance. At The very beginning they used the original manuscript before the corrections were made and the wrong book cover I had specially chosen. I was furious. The book was a shamble, the back-cover, the acknowledgments, the Author's Bio, and the inscription were all incorrect, including the dedication to my daughters. They could not center the titles to a paragraph and the list goes on and on....

Xlibris Corporation, Xlibris Publishing, Penguin Group, Sharon Lauta, AJ Barco Has been withholding royalties payments, underpaying me royalties, telling me they will pay and months and months have gone by with no payments received. Bloomington, Indiana
I have been an author with Xlibris since 1998 with two books self published through them. My second book is a premium full color picture book that costs $48.99. The book is in the distribution channel with Amazon with Light Source Publishing fulfilling the print on demand orders for amazon.com. My biggest concern in having my book title with Xlibris, besides not receiving royalties due me, is that the book continues to sell through Amazon.com with Light Source fulfilling the print on demands, and Amazon.com, Light Source and Xlibris getting paid their shares and me -nothing. It is quite disturbing to know that books are being sold and everyone down the line are being paid but me.  Does anyone have any suggestions? I have talked on the telephone with customer service, A.J. Barco a number of times and emailed back and forth with her and she has confirmed that I was underpaid royalties and that they were just waiting for Finance to cut me a check for the underpayment. Its been 8 months or more on that one. I have left messages even more times to Sharon Lauta, manager in the Royalties Department, who also agrees that there was an underpayment, and she would do more research and get Finance to cut me a check as soon as possible. And still nothing.   What recourse do we have from these people? Is Penguin Group going to pay me now? On my online webpage of book sales and royalties due that Xlibris updates supposedly regularly, Xlibris has not posted any book sales or royalties since March 2012, and they know what sales have occurred and what royalties are due for all of those unposted months. I was one of those people who was conned into a couple of expansive marketing campaigns, one of which was to send my book information out to 2 million email addresses. Supposedly they sent the emails out in batches of 1 million at a time, with an additional 1 million emails I was told  by Xlibris rep Chris Carlson, were sent because they were nt sent in the time frame I had requested. Okay, 3 million emails sent and nd not one book was sold from those 3 million opt in emails for a best selling book on health and fitness?. And they never even gave me a report on the campaign their representative Chris Carlson said, because there were no sales. Now that I have read the complaints here on Rip Off Report, I am sure that I have been lied to, scammed, had royalties due me underpaid and not paid. Again I ask of anyone in the know, what recourse do I and others like me have with Xlibris and now Penguin? And should I continue letting the books sell on amazon.com and hope someday to finally get paid? What can be done here? Please advise. Thank you. Respectfully submitted,

Xlibris Publishing Ltd Unprofessional, slow, shoddy work, overpriced end product New South Wales, Nationwide
I have doubts about the American-based publishing company Xlibris. Their work is shoddy, they have taken 3 years to do a job for me that was basic (since I had the job done and ready for them anyway) and which according to their contract would be completed within 2 months. After 2 failed attempts to do my picture book, I finally received the copy which was up to standard, but their recommended retail price was double what I would have expected, which renders the book unsaleable. The whole deal also cost me $1800, and now I have a product which is overpriced, and that took well longer than their contract stated. I would have expected the job to be straightforward, any high school student could have done the work. After the first embarrassing quality disaster, I had to scan the images for them again at my own expense, which they tried to bill me for the 'republishing'. The second attempt resulted in the colour being wrong, then on the third attempt, they finally got it right. During those 3 years, we had a world recession, so now my book is overpriced for todays market. What I got for my money was a few 'complimentary' copies, 2 posters and some promotional business cards. I have read of other people having similar problems with this company and as can be expected, no refund (part or otherwise) was given when these other people asked for a refund. It seems others have had a similar experience, I now have an unsaleable, overpriced book that cost me a heap of money. I was seduced by what appeared to be a great deal on the internet in a country where I cant fight their laws. According to them, they delivered the product (in the end)

Xlibris Publishing They published my book, but charged high prices for scant marketing. They set high prices on my book. Bloomington, Indiana
Xlibris published and printed my book, Triumphs I & II, in August 2011. They put what I consider to be high prices on my softback and hardback book - $16.95 for softback and $24.95 for hardback.  I'm sure that this is a deterrant to potential buyers.  It's a book of poetry and short storied - 88 pages.  It is attractive, but has sold little. Xlibris came up with a list of marketing services totaling approximately $30,000.00.  Services are not done until they have been paid for.  So far I have paid about $10,000 for publishing the book and for some press releases they sent out around the nation. The finance department at Xlibris is set up so that they are used to an author paying either in full or in 3 monthly installments for the whole package.  I told my marketing consultant repeatedly that I cannot pay four-figure monthly installments, and that I would pay $600.00/month.  That is still a burden, and I'm getting nothing for it.  Although they are not putting a collection agency on my tail, I occasionally receive what they call courtesy calls, and my marketing consultant says not to worry about the calls- that's their job. My main complaint is that I believe they have set the prices on my book too high, and I'm getting little marketing service.

Xlibris Author Solutions fake publishing, publising, scam, vanity publishing, vanity publishing scam Bloomington Indiana but also New Zealand and world world
My father paid nealy $4000 to Xlibris to publish his book. They never even printed it. They promised a refund minus $85 in their contract but they never gave it to him. They pretendied they sent a check but he never got it. They kept lying and saying he must have lost it or they world look into it They kept saying they would look into it' and they kept saying that his point person had changed and he had to ring someone else. Bascially they just gave him the run around in a delibrate scam. He is 73 years old and so he got confused. He forgot that in his thirties he was published by real publisers. He forgot that real publishers don't charge authors anything only pay them. He forgot vanity publishing is just a scam for losers, because he is old and Xlbris con men exploited him because of his age.

Xlibris Publishing Hasn't paid me royalties in years. And paying them for advertising is a big waste of money. Brooklyn New York
In 2013 I self-published my first script, titled: Chi-Chi and the Salazar family the publisher, I used to publish the script was Xlibris.I've spent close to two thousand dollars with this publisher to advertise my book to obtain publicity and sells. Since 2013 all I've gained has been sixty dollars. My book since it came out has been sold overseas and has many five stars over the internet and great reviews, people on eBay are selling my book in the UK, Australia, and France. The publisher hasn't sent me a check for more than two years and my book has been sold up until today. Then, why was my last check from them a few years ago? When I asked them about why I haven't received a check in the past few years, they always give me vague answers that I don't understand. A few weeks ago, I called and asked them, why haven't I received a check from 2016 and 2017 and they told me they will going to contact me which they did not. I don't recognize what's actually going on, they can tell me anything they want and I possess no evidence to belie. I had no idea that so many people were going through the same problems as me, too bad I waited so many years to seek help.   P.S. I own all the rights to my book.  Too bad I didn't find out all these complains sooner, I would have taken a different direction.

Xlibris Publishing Ray Olgers Printing Department Xlibris the scamers outsource book printing to companies that use inferior paper for the quality and price of my book Camels to Caviar She declined to send me a sample copy of the book being publi Bloomington, Indiana
Since the get go, Xlibris has been horrible to work with.  Between editing, printing, absolutely not one sale from their contact marketing list and now to see that they are printing an inferior book and charging $29.99 for something that looks like it was printed in China or India. (and most likely it would even look better from there!) The sample books I received have a nice cream color readable classy look to it, the one I saw at my book signing was shocking that one of my followers received this as a quality book.  Not one book in my library looks like they used photocopy white paper as does the one I saw. Ray Olgers refused to send me a copy of my own book to see what the quality is.  I would have to pay for the book to see it!  What kind of customer service is this?  They are not quality controlling copies sent out from Ingram and Amazon, so she tells me.  In other words she is saying Ingram and Amazon print their own books and not Xlibris.  Does that make sense?  I didnt pay either of those companies to print my book, I paid Xlibris to print them.  I recommend to all of you that have books with them, find out if your book is also being sent out looking like a photocopy instead of a real book. They just keep on scaming and no one does anything about it.  They just keep on scammming wherever they can.

Xlibris Publishing It has taken me over two years to put three books together. first they re-titled my book, then they did NOT make the cover right. they expect people to read the script on-line when you dont have a com Indianpolis, Indiana
These people really suck! first of all they make you pay for their typo mistakes, that you know you didn't make, only so they can profit from that. then they send my book to someone else, and theirs to me. causing more grief. after that? they totally changed my five storie children's book to a three storie book with a differrent title that they came up with. the only money i ever made?(which they have reports for)is $1.60. and that comes from my own purchases of over $200.00. people won't buy these books, so I have been giving them away for free-therefor loosing all the investment, time and money I put into my very first publication!  After you are through with the first agent? they put you through to someone else..they get promoted while you get broke!  they keep e-mailing, and calling me to buy more books? what the hell do they think ? I don't even have a job! I can't afford this crap, and they don't care...they get rich while we go broke!  I asked them to change the cover on my third book, after I decided to change the contents, and they placed the cover info inside the book as a copy page. these people don't care about anyone, except themselfs!  I am hurt, broke, and upset. even on the author bio, for my children's book they have the contents for my x-rated second and third books. I can't get them to change anything without more problems. they are money hungry, and they just don't care about people. they don't understand that these people have dreams, and they are only out to take our money!  so I agree with the other guy...don't give these people anything, any money you shed out, will just keep you poor.

Xlibris Publishing I have given them over $6,000 to publish my book and they keep giving me different people to service me and programs which seem legitemate but I have no proof them have fulfilled them. Bloomington IN.
I have not cancelled my service with them and asked for a refun of them money I have sent for the last service and am waiting for th eir response. they are taking people with their scams and it isn't fair. they should be held accountable and shut down. I wanted to publish my book so I decided to self publish and I picked Xlibris. At first I was excited that they chose to publish it. I was taken in by their services and was willing to pay for them. But after a while of editing and editing I was handed to a number of people to do different services. In the meantime them came up with more programs to add to marketing my book which I paid for. This all sounded good because it was my first book and I was really excited to get it published. Once I saw the book completed I paid for advertising, book catalogs, shows but had only written articles that they said went to the media. Still no proof of shows. My book is on Amazon and Barnes as Noble and I have a Website. I was told I would get a ReadAloud program wh ich I already paid for and it was edited. Now I receive an email telling me it was discontinued and they would give me a 60-90 sec ad on you  tube free. I also made four payments for a distribution of my book to retailers. These cost me a total of $4965.00. I wanted all my money back and I canceled anymore affiliation with them. I have not heard from them and fear I have lost all that money as well my sense of worth. They have taken away much more that money from me and many others and they should be held responsible for what they do. I have received a totall of $35.00 in royalties and lost so much more. I will do anything to close them down and any like them. Please help me and others who fall victim to businesses like this. Diane Brischke

Xlibris (Alan Bowers Publisher Liar!) So many: Ann Porter, Cherry Villa (refuses to answer my emails), Cherry Minoza, Jane Cole Xlibris is a dishonest, manipulating book-publishing company.  Bloomington Indiana
Comprising so many inefficient and ineffective officers: many part-time! Its main purpose is to grab and grab vulnerable first authors' money. There are so many examples of lies and unprofessional behaviour. I could begin with a Mr Alan Bowers (Publisher and Director) who contacted me on the 2st July last year. He said that the covers of the two books I was publishing should be changed (His idea) He wanted to improve branding. He said that he had asked for a sample edit, so that I can share with you what we see from a writing point of view. (Please note that Mr Yusner Daniels - an employe-had called me to say that Mr Bowers was excited about my books! Bowers in his e-mail said to me not to do anything till you (I) hear from me. In spite of several e-mails I have sent to him, he has not contacted me and not replied to any of my mails to him. In effect he has lied and deceived me. He has also left me in the lurch: pondering and disbelieving a senior person can behave in such an appalling way. Much is to follow. Staff said they would write or call. They did not. For example a Mr Carlsaid he would call meny times He didnt. Anwers to my concerns were either ignored or brushed under the carpet. It goes on and on. Now they have stopped sending me e-mails. They have cut me off without any explanation. For example Cherry Villa doesn't anr4 any of my concerns. There is business still to be completed. They have not sent me my leather-bound copy for my second book; they have not sent me complementary copies of the first book that Bowers wanted changed; they have not sent me my small items; they refuse to discuss royalties. At this stage I still don't know anything about my royalties. There is so much more about this rip-off company: a company characterised by lies and energised tenacity in ring out every penny one has! I have copies of all the gmails.

Xlibris Publishing So I purchased the premium package with Xlibris to publish my first book of my first series, my horror started with the author represenative, they left out four pages of my book, all the reviews from Bloomington Indiana
I hired Xlibiris to publish my first book in my first series. I purchased the premium package which basically includes almost everything, it included an editor. The funny thing about the editor, all of my reviews have been complaints about the grammer and the edititing, the reviews state that if the book were polished better with the grammer that it would be an easy 5 star book but it's only a 4 at this point because of the editing that I paid for. They not only messed up the editing but they missed an entire FOUR pages that they left out of my book, these pages were important for the plot. My author's rep was fired some time during the publication process and me and my book was dropped in the cracks. It's a joke, they have cost me time, money, sales and most of all my name. The book outside looks like it should belong in the scholastic library for third to fifth grade kids, then the sales rep sends me an email trying to bribe me into using xlibiris for book 2 and 3 by telling me that if I can guarantee her that I'll use them for the next two books that she will (pay out of her pocket) two copies of my book from their other distributor because I don't like the way they turned out. What has large buisness groups done to make their employee's feel that they have to bribe us or to have to spend thier own money to bring in buisness. It's a joke, all of it. I received my first royalty check in the mail today, are you ready for this everyone, take a seat, it was $27.01 that's right don't forget the one cent, yet my author's pages on Amazon and B&N show my sales were way better, not to mention that noone contacted me about taking 28% of my check for taxes or let alone give me the option to opt out of that, which I want, I don't trust them to do anything right let alone my taxes, so I can end up in jail because they are commiting fraud by what they do. I found an attorney, not mention the writers group I belong to that have author's in there who have used Xlibiris and have sued them and were settled, one was settled with five hundred thousand dollars, so come on everyone, the public, their screwing everyone that uses them. My book started out a good size book but ended up with them being 118 pages and they are charging 19.99 for a soft cover and 29.99 for a hard cover. Really, I mean come on, I'm not a Known author yet, it's a rip off any way you look at it. so they must be getting some really great earnings on sitting on all that money, they must be drawing great interest. I want my money, all  of it, and my name back because now it's crap thanks to this company.

Xlibris Xlibris - Danger - Buyer Beware Bloomingdale, Indiana
Unfortunately - everything written about this company, is also my experience to date. I am trying to work my way through things with them when they answer emails. My representative is Roy Andrews - bless. Or is this a ploy. I have had a bit of good cop - bad cop response from them. But maybe we also have to play them smart. Keep a record of everything. In time when there are enough people ripped off maybe we can be a collective and get our own back. I am working on a strategy.Maybe this company could put us in contact in some way and build up a momentum.Alone and divided we fail, united it might be possible to fight back.Buyer beware. Xlibris Scam Xlibris Corporation Fraud Bloomington, Internet
Quite simply, Xlibris is a fraudulent, dishonest and incompetent, disaster zone. Xlibris is nothing more than a quick-buck scam printer, posing as a "print-on-demand publisher", and it has one of the highest complaints percentages for a small business of it's type - with numerous civil legal proceedings for fraud and libel - including one major one that is currently in the Indiana courts and when the judgement is made public in Spring 2011, will likely make the Rebecca Brandewyne/Authorhouse saga look like a walk in the park. (Word is they're going to need to remortgage a few houses to cover the damages on this latest libel case) Xlibris was started in the late 1990s in a parents' basement, and was previously run out of a garage/home office in Philadelphia, but in the last year moved to the Author Solutions call-center with partner frauds, AuthorHouse (which has a long legal history - just Google "Authorhouse Scam" to find out) and Searchforpublishers.com - the quintessential Author trap. As of December 2010, Xlibris owes huge back taxes to the IRS and is currently carrying huge liabilities that Mr Princeton CEO Kevin Weiss has strategized to rescue with disturbingly dubious "publish 2 for 1" / "publish for a buck" coupon deals which any writer, however good or bad, should stay well clear. Their book production is dogshit like their customer service. Piers Anthony, one of the website's English owners, one of the swarming flies who still fronts this scam, is a failed British "published author" and part time con-man who lives in Florida, and has a few skeletons of his own - including a 20-year old criminal record in the UK for serious sexual misconduct, fraud and theft. Yes, Random House does still own a percentage - but let's be clear folks, Random House has a sleeping stake much the same way that Microsoft partially owns the adult services site, Ingenio/Niteflirt and don't they keep that very quiet. RH makes VERY CLEAR that Xlibris books have nothing to do with RH. The Xlibris website contains inept, vague material which is more confusing than helpful, and makes wild inconsistent boasts about how the company has "600 staff" on one page, yet, on another page mysteriously has "300 employees". The company actually has 3 full time employees, (including Mr Ivy League Kevin Weiss), and at any one time up to 10 part time workers, most of whom are part-time college students who know virtually nothing about publishing except high school english and how to make a greasy $10/hour. The problems with printing at Xlibris are as long as Authorhouse's scam history, they are a disgusting company and I'm sorry they ever crossed paths with my work.

Almost everyone I spoke within the company to had English as a second language and made me wonder about their English proficiency to be competent to edit or work with books in English.Anyway, I am complaining because not only did they take my $8000 and not fulfill the terms of the agreement for this $8000; they are not paying me the royalties of sales that I know were sold. In Canada I have at least four people (that I know about) whom purchased the book but none of these sales show up on Xlibris Website under Author Royalties. I also have over 1500 friends within the united states whom have sent me emails telling me how wonderful the book is...yet they do not show up in the royalties statement. According to Xlibris, I have sold only 5 books! I have well over that in sales and thus can only conclude that this organization either breaches contracts or are out right scam artists.

iUniverse Author House - AuthorHouse - Xlibris - Bertram Capital Management - Author Solutions - Trafford Publishing - Wordclay DANGER! BEWARE! FRAUD! and let's not forget CLASS ACTION Internet
I sat in the Bada Bing today and thought about this awful situation for a long time. The corporate officers and certain employees of these entities deserve to be pictured in handcuffs on the front page of every significant newspaper in the world, and featured on American Greed, Dateline, and 60 Minutes, to name only a few.All due respect...The masterminds behind this flimflam printing operation should get no respect, no more money from the public, and significant incarceration. They know perfectly well what they're doing and what they have done to an unsuspecting public. In order to not let them get away with it, each one of you who had money stolen by iUniverse and its other incarnations needs to step up and join a class action lawsuit and not keep saying that someone else ought to do it. They are not going to go away unless you join to do something. Stop feeling powerless.(((Redacted))) CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

Xlibris Do not use them! Internet
Hello.  We went to different sites for reviews when we were looking to publish a book.  We selected Xlibris based on those reviews.  This is our first published book.  Xlibris did an excellent job on the book itself.  That's about all the good I have to say about them.  Here's the bad..We waited to publish the book until June so we could get all the bugs out and so it would come out just before Christmas.  After getting all the bugs out, we were ready for a October/November release.  Xlibris' website went down and we were flooded with frustrated clients not being able to order the newly released book.  To this day, Xlibris cannot give us an accurate accounting of our sales or royalties due us.  Our first sales started in August.  We have not been paid a dime.  They will not return our emails/calls or if they happen to, they do not act upon our requests.  We were promised a leather bound edition, which we never received.  We paid them $10,000 US dollars and as soon as we paid them in full, they did a complete reversal in support, which is now nil.  We call or email them daily and all we get is a run around.  We are considering contacting other authors who have hired Xlibris for a possible suit action.
