I had a nice decent car but I needed a bigger car so that my family could do outings together. I went on craigslist and found a van and the owner said that he would trade me for my car. I went and test drove the car and even looked on kelly blue book value to compare the cars, they both evened out.

The guy that I bought it from informed me that there was a newer engine placed in the car and that it only had 95000 miles on it, but after doing the title he never called and gave me the recepits for it. The younger guy that I bought the car from also installed a stereo into the car.

I had the van for 2.5 weeks when the unexpected happened to it. I was driving down the road and a belt flew off of it. I pulled into the parking lot where I life and smoke started rolling out from under the hood. I informed everyone to get out, I thought the car was on fire. And sure enough, it was.

I had to call the fire department to come out to put it out. This was very scarey for me especially because I live in an apartment complex and I was scared that it was going to explode.

I ahd a family friend come out to look at it afterwards and come to find out, there were two things that caused the fire. The first being the electrical wires under the hood, and the other main reason, was because who ever put the motor in used a rubber hose instead of a steel pipe hose for the gas line. Which caused it to crack, leaking gas onto the wheel for the alternator, then the belt broke off, and the gas was through into the exhaust, causing the fire.
