In October 2011 my Uncle was diagnosed with Stage IV throat cancer. Over 10 months he had treatment at a cancer center in Texas. By the end of 2012 the cancer was gone and he was technically in remission. Unfortunatley in July of 2015 the cancer returned to his throat, base of tongue and jaw.

He started more treatment but eventually his body couldn't handle much more chemo or radiation. His Dr.'s in Texas advised him to look for alternative treatments like clinical trials. After hours of research my Uncle found the Rubio Cancer Center in Mexico who specializes in alternative treatment. At the Rubio Cancer Center he was told he would undergo immunotherapy along with detoxification, and T-cell therapy. The process was going to take 6-8 weeks at a cost of $7,000 per week. My uncle decided to go to Mexico for the treatment as a last hope effort for his cancer.

He arrived in Mexico in February 2016 and came back at the end of March. He was told that his cancer had shrunk in size and that his therapy worked. He spent close to $50,000 at the Rubio Cancer Center. While he was there he had only 2 things done to him. They drew his blood constantly and was given pain meds. He was told that he was given T-cell vaccines to help shrink his cancer. He was lied to about everything. It is actually unknown what he was exactly given through his IV. Nothing was labeled and when he asked Dr. Rubio what it was the Dr. gave him a very short response.

My uncle wasted time and money at the Rubio Cancer Center. He is now back in Texas on Hospice care. When he arrived back in the states he went back to his cancer Dr.'s and he was given a PET/CT scan where it showed that his tumor and cancer had actually quadrupled in size. Dr. Rubio is a liar, alond with his staff. This man should be put away for a very long time and have his medical license revoked. He's lucky he's in Mexico and out of reach from this family who is hurting and grieving.

I am glad that you had a wonderful experience and outcome from visiting the Rubio Cancer Center. As you know, no two people are the same and no two cancers are the same. Immunotherapy does not have a 100% success rate and neither does chemo and radiation. My Uncle was well aware at the risk and cost of going to this clinic. He had great care from nurses and aides at the clinic and overall he was pleased with the way he was treated. The thing he is not pleased with is that he was told his cancer was shrinking and going away. Once he was back in the states he became very sick. When he saw his Dr.'s at MD Anderson and they checked him out, they observed that the  cancer was not shrinking and it was in fact growing. He stayed at the Rubio Clinic for 6 weeks and a few extra days. That was the amount of time Dr. Rubio told him to stay. While I have no doubt that this man has helped people and there has been success stories, I am also aware that several people have not had the same outcome and they have spent a fourtune at this clinic. My Uncle was told his tumor had shrunk by 50% from an Ultrasound that was done. My Uncle didn't see the images he was just told this by Dr. Rubio. He was not sent home with any files or images, and trying to get those now is no easy task. Calls to the clinic go unaswered and voicemails are not returned. When someone finally does call you back, they promise they are sending your files. So far nothing has been sent to my Uncle. In the meantime I strongly urge anyone going to this clinic to do your research. If you have the money and that's not an issue for you then maybe your outcome will be one of the more positive ones. It's not ethical in my eyes to take someones money and tell them the tumor is shrinking when it has not actually shrunk.

Ask for all medical records when leaving this clinic.

Ask to see your scans.

Ask for a detailed receipt of all payments.

Take someone with you.

Rubio Cancer Center

First of all, I would like to say that my heart breaks for this gentleman and his family.  As I myself have walked cancer's devastating road, I too understand that it is not easy for any of the parties involved.  That being said, I have to strongly disagree with the picture that was painted of Dr. Rubio and Rubio Cancer center in this report.

5 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  As you can imagine, My family and I were completely devastated.  We sought traditional treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Tx.  I had amazing doctors there and they were very honest with me about my prognosis.  I was given 6 months to live with no real treatment options.  The cancer had spead over almost my entire body, and I, like the gentleman in this report, was encouraged to seek alternative options.  Through a friend (who had been cured of stage 4 ovarian cancer by Dr. Rubio) we found out about Rubio Cancer Center in Tijuana.  I was very skeptical, but had no other options, so I went.  I spent one month at the clinic in Tijuana and continued with my treatment when I got home.  I will not pretend that this was an easy process (no cancer treatment is...traditional or alternative) or that it was a cheap process (no cancer treatment is...traditional or alternative).  What I can say is, that was 5 years ago!  I have continued seeing my Doctor at MD Anderson over the last 5 years for check ups and scans to make sure the cancer is still gone.  2 weeks ago I was at MD and received the report that I am still completely cancer free!

I am a real person who has gone through a 5 year cancer journey with Dr. Rubio and I can attest to the treatment he is offering.  It is not only real, but it really works.  Dr. Rubio is a kind and brilliant man who has dedicated his life to helping people.  That is what hurts me most about this report...is that this persons bad report could keep many from a real answer that they might not find if they seek treatment elsewhere.

I believe that this report is unfair for several reasons...

1.  This gentleman did not finish his treatment

-I have never gone to any doctor or received any medicine that did not require me to finish all of the prescribed treatment for it to work.

2.  The doctors in the states don't understand Immunotherapy.

-The doctors in the states don't administer immunotherapy so they don't know how to properly read the scans.  My first scans at MD Anderson after I had recieved my treatment in mexico showed inflamation and swelling in my lungs.  The doctors at MD Anderson thought it was the cancer growing, but it wasn't...it was only inflamation that went down over the next few months.

3.  There was no ripoff report filed against the doctors or hospitals in the states

The treatment he received in the states did not work.  Not only did it not work, but as a result of the treatment received in the states he was very sick.  I know this because I met with this man before he went to Rubio Cancer Center.  Yet not one ripoff report was ever filed against those doctors.  It was just written off in this persons report as "Unfortunate."

I am extremely greatful for Dr. Rubio and what he has done for me and my family.  Over the last 5 years I have met hundreds of people who have gotten their life back when the doctors in the states told them it was over.  If you are reading this report, I would strongly encourage you to prayerfully consider Rubio Cancer Center.  I am forever greatful that I did. God Bless
