I was contacted the day before writing this via a person who asked about the business that I started up in the last 3 years. I did have one and said that I hadn't earned any money from it yet.

The person informed me I could get a large portion of that money back and asked me some questions. Already, I was suspicious as I had been contacted via ANOTHER company asking me the exact same thing and asking the exact same questions. I actually gave them some info but was confident they wouldn't get very far as I don't have a whole lot of money or investments in the first place. They asked for my most used credit card numbers but NOT the CVV #. The phone numbers on the back of each card was also requested, my address was confirmed, as was my phone number, email and they asked for the last 4 of my social. I was practically led through it all and felt obligated to give the information; that and I need the money cause like I said, haven't made any with my business so far and of course, to get $3000 of it back would be a blessing.

The same day, I was contacted by a man named Andrew Goldstein, from the same place and we went over the information again. He sounded genuine and I asked for the name of the company he worked for. He said Safeguard Protection and again, it sounded legit. He then informed me in order for the money to be sent to me, I would have to pay the state tax on it which was about $620. I said I only had about $500 and he offered to put up half of it as long as I took care of the other half, paying him back when I got my money in the next 45 days. Sounded fair and I was ready to go for it. However, when he said that I would have to make the payment to the Federal Reserve (or something along those lines) via Western Union or Walmart2Walmart transfer to a Joshua Bouchard, a red flag instantly went up. That was when I started asking more questions. Such as what was the name of their website, why were they asking me all the same questions as another company (which the guy told me was a fraud) and how I would get the money back. I was never told the website name or anything about the company. They do NOT have a website, trust me, I searched, any type of history and I could find NO information about Safeguard Protection Group. I didn't send any money that night and the guy called me the next morning. He was borderline guilt tripping me into sending the money "like I said I would". He didn't full on push me into it but he had the laid back "it's no skin off my nose" type of attitude toward the situation, telling me that he had helped people with their stuff before and been jipped himself a time or two. Pretty sure that was just a tactic to sympathize with me and I DID feel that. I was ready to do the transfer again but thought twice after we hung up. I began spending the next 90 minutes trying to find any information on this company to no avail. I did find a small excerpt on Bizpedia.com about a Safeguard Protection Group, Inc. which only told me they were in Arizona, had 2 principles, that SPG had been around since 1993 ..and that's it.

Nothing else. No phone number, no website address, NOTHING.

I took it a step further and called the Federal Reserve myself, telling them about the situation; they told me what the guy was trying to do was a scam and I should report them to the Trades Commission or something. That was all I needed to know and I was self assured that I had helped myself dodge a bullet with nothing but past experience, some online research and outside confirmation that these jerks were frauds. Of course, I won't get my business's money back like this but there you go.

Beware of this company: Safeguard Protection Group, Inc!

I hope this helps anyone who reads it! Stay safe and stay aware!
