SAI ALARM Wrongful Contract Extension Arlington Heights Illinois

I signed up for a three year contract for Alarm Monitoring Services from SAI alarm three months from the end of the contract, I contacted them about canceling. At that point I was told that I needed to call within thirty days of the end of the contract and cancel over the phone. I called within thirty days and on the phone I was told that my contract was auto renewed because I did not send a letter to them. I would have but that is not what the rep told was required to cancel. I was then told that there was a stipulation that it must be in writing. I asked the rep if we could come to some sort of agreement as I was at the time 28 days from the end of my contract and I was told that I had to pay for an entire year from that point. He told me he would lower my bill by five dollars a month. I understand that there are stipulations contained in a contract but this is obsurd and I was not told on the phone that it was necessary that I wrote in. I WAS TOLD TO CALL WITHIN 30 days. Which I can only assume was to ensure that I would get ensnared into another year. I could understand if I had to pay a small fee to cancel however they want payment for an entire year to cancel. I contacted the BBB and thier response was "its in the contract" well shame on me for thinking thier customer service had my best interests in mind. This company is a fraud.
