In 1996 my exgirlfriend had had a baby boy (I knew I am the father to the child). I have made every attempt to try to support him and even to see him, to no avail. All the support was sent back "Return to sender".

In 2003 she had finally tried to file for child support but filed an interstate compact (b/c i live in Minnesota and she doesn't want me to see the child) Since then I have tried to call my son and talked to him and Sandra had said that he will never have any contact with me, for one reason that could hurt the child in the future. It seems that my son and i cannot have contact with each other because I have other children that are half mexican. (Her words not mine) After 3 years of trying to get something done I found out that I can go into court and have her placed in contempt for failure to obey the parenting time laws Minnesota has under their child support laws. I can only speculate that Sandra is not happy with the amount that the county set for child support and threw out the rest of her demands for money. The child support amount is set at zero. BTW, it also helps to be truthful on court documents. At the advice of the county attorney the judge set the amount at zero. Now with that being said. With a child support in force she has to comply with the minnesota laws of parenting time. Sandra is now married. Our sons address is now different from the one I had. So with some investigating i had found the correct address and phone number for my son. Surprise surprise the state of Iowa didn't even know she moved (for reporting purposes) So to protect all parents, I think it would be best to read your child support laws front ward and backward and inside out and get comfortable with the law. We do have laws on our side you just have to know how to use them to your benefit and legally and everything will work out in the end. I will post anything new pertaining to this matter in the future.
