Sean Bodner And PJ Beardsley Out $1700 for a custom made bed Phoenix Arizona

We ordered a custom made bed in April 2007. Sean and PJ met us on a couple of occasions as we were making plans to remodel our kitchen. We asked them if they could order us a fabric covered frame for our mattress, and naturally, they said "yes". We gave them a check for $1700 on April 15 and as they drove away in their silver Mercedes Benz, I thought, "We are never going to see that money and that bed ever again..." and I was correct.

Lesson, always listen to your gut instinct. I should have cancelled that check the next morning, but I didn't as I gave them the benefit of the doubt, because they are/were so likeable and trusting. YIKES!

Several weeks later with many more excuses, we had no bed. We were able to contact the manufacturer of the bed (because Sean had emailed us a picture of the bed) and they told us in July that the order was placed in April but never paid for and they would not complete the order because they had problems with these designers not paying for the products in the past.

We called Sean and he never fessed up to the scam, but said (and I still have the voice mail telling us that we would receive a check in the mail for the bed) that, "rest assured, we would have our money back". We never received a check and never received our bed. When he did leave us that voicemail, he did not hang up the phone at the end of the message and he can be heard saying, "F_ _ k her, just because she is pregnant...." Nice manners.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and they were never able to follow-up with them. I filed a complaint with the DA's department for Consumer Affairs.

We were going to file a civil lawsuit against them, however, we found out that they had a couple of judgements against them and another lawsuit pending along with a bench arrest warrent for Sean Bodner.

I am very glad to see that the law is finally catching up to them.
