When I first stated for Securitas Security I had to go through many classes of First Aid and the Requirements for on job security that took about two weeks, and during this I was told as an official security officer I am allowed to go into any area. Then the first month at my job site people were complaining things went missing. So we kept a good eye out, I was working the night shift 12am-8am.

Couple Weeks go by and now over $1000 worth of stuff is missing, cameras, ipods, cash, change, etc. I was a full time worker then went to school right after work ad was a full time student. Right after class on January 9th, 2007, I was called into the main office for a meeting,

I clearly asked why I had to come into downtown, and was told they cannot say why over the phone, most likely because they record everything and didn't want what they were accusing me for on the recording. They also told me I couldn't work until I went to see them. They demanded I come right away, so I agreed to go.

When I arrived at the company I was put in an office with my Human Resource Manager Crystal Brown, and she asked me what I know about the thefts, I told her I knew what they knew and she said that I knew more than I knew.

I said I don't understand where your going with this and she finally got to the point and accused me of stealing money from the job site along with electronics. I replied with outrage, I couldn't believe this company would accuse me for such things.

I kept replying there's no way id do something like that, during this I'm also going to school for Criminal Justice. There's no way that I did that. She then said that I'm being discharged and without pay. I asked what without pay? She replied that I wouldn't get my last few paychecks without signing a release form.

Thinking about my family I made a really big mistake on my part, I signed the form didn't get a copy and biggest didn't read it. Got one pay check, waited 4 weeks for the other to come in because the lost one in the mail. I got a call from her a week later saying the job site I worked for wants $123.00.

I told her I'm not paying anything. I didn't do it and she says you signed a statement saying you did, right there says I'm screwed for everything. When I told her I'm not paying she relied that it was going on my credit, which I didn't know was legal. Fair enough it was on there and I get about 6-10 letters a week to this day from the creditor.

I opened my first letter from their creditor and it stated I owed $123.00 for, get this, Uniforms, I thought to myself hmmm they said stolen items and this says uniforms, so I drove downtown and brought all the uniforms and then got a receipt.

On the way out she came out and grabbed the receipt out of my hands and said that's for stolen goods. I said but it says uniforms, which I still have documents on and ill be willing to send to anyone to show this rip off.

I then took my paper back and my uniforms and was about to leave when she tried to grab the uniforms from me too, and I said not until I get that receipt back. But they denied giving it back and I said then your not getting these and left. The next 2 days I received another letter saying I owe over $200.00 for uniforms. They both say uniforms but the HR Manager says ones for stolen stuff.

Hmm that's interesting, I still have the uniforms, and will not return them without a receipt for both these bills and they stay out of my credit. Then I tried to get unemployment and I couldn't even get that because they disputed it and my family lawyer said there's n point for trying for it they'll make up something more to take out on you.

They state they have me on camera in restricted areas, although they told me in the interview I am to go in every place to scope out that nothing is going on, Every Where, in the building. They said hidden cameras of me going in cubical draws.

For all I know they could have taken footage of me at the front desk going into my desk draw to get a pen and use that against me. They also got my fingerprints everywhere? How? My fingerprints are not even on file because I never committed any crimes what so ever. I worked there my fingerprints are going to be around. Over 15 other security guards work there it could be them or even their employees at the job site which calculate over 5,000.

I've done the research, I'm not asking for any money back. I just want people to know to look out for them selves. These people are looking to get you. They made up a so called law when I was in there that they need to Weigh the checks, whatever that means, I knew what it meant for me $80.00 less in my checks for now on. Where was it going? They never had answers, I can tell you, it was going into their pockets.

Every day I get letters from them, I just want to be left alone and people to understand tat Securitas Security is a bad company to work for and they are accusers, fraud, liars, framers, I could go on and on.

I was recently talking o someone on Myspace.com that had a similar problem with this company in Boston. I really would like the $600.00 I should have gotten from MA Unemployment but I know that wont ever happen. I won't go to a hearing just for the fact that it's going to be a waste of my time.

Please if you have any questions feel free to ask me. Thank You for your time.

I had to respond to this others will too!

It's to bad people are fooled into thinking that only because the thefts stopped means that this officer was responsable. I have worked for securitas for 7 years including this site. I was a supervisor when it belonged to Texas Instruments. The employees knew this officer was fired so ofcourse the the thefts stopped.
Crystal Brown often "gets rid" of officers that file complaints along with the entire office staff. I can name 5 officers that have been fired for simple reasons while others keep thier job. I myself have filed complaints against the floater pool officer and NOTHING has ever been done about it. I have had to stand post well over 24 hours on 4 different occations over the last 10 months alone. When asked what action was taken against him she replys " We spoke to him and the situation has ben taken care of". Then I didnt get all my pay the next paycheck, it was spread out over 3 weeks. Can you say "Fixing the books anyone?" Last month I had not been relieved for a 36 hour shift... doesnt seem like the situation has been taken care of does it? It's a shame that such a thing goes on but with the job market the way it is what is one to do? I have sent this link to several other officers and the "Nice and understanding" Crystal Brown's true colors will come out. Several officer have even filed complaints with the Boston office because the providence office has no abitlity to do anything.
I also worked with "ozzy" and let me tell you he has his favorites like everybody else. It's to bad you had to be the fall guy for our company. This was also not the first layoff this company has had and certainly not the first time things have been stolen from there. Good luck kid but you still should have known not to sign anything!

That's not all she has done!

I believe what you say 100% I am a current employee of Securitas and this is not the first time a person has complained about Crystal Brown. I work inside the office with her from time to time and the subject of what happened at your site has come up in conversation. Myself and other officers believe that you had nothing to do with the thefts. Often when a company does layoffs employees steal. Laying off 2500 people in the same week.... lets just say theft goes with such a thing. 2500 angry employees...

Many officers would like to see her removed from the company but who do they complain to? The head of human resources... she's the problem! I would not put her in charge of a lemonade stand nevermind a large office like the one we have in Providence. We all feel your pain believe me. The corperate office has recieved complaints about her from 12 officers this year alone and nothing has been done about it. All i can say is that we all feel for you and good luck finding another job.

#7 UPDATE Employee

Come on now

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 16, 2008

I worked with this ex employee. Here at this site patrol does 3 walk throughs to make sure all areas are secure. If a door that should be secure is not then we enter and check to see if all is in order we DO NOT have full run of the place ,we can access all areas but that DOES NOT mean we do. There are key points to check after the walk throughs we drive around the campus putting 15 to 20 miles on the truck. Most of the time this ex employee would sit in the back room watching moives or playing his video games between doing the walk throughs.
If he stole or not I have no hard proff but it is said that he is there on more then one camera in more then one SECURED area.
I have been with Securitas U.S.A. for over a year and at this site working under Chris Izzio for almost a year now. Chris is very fair he tries to work things out in a private and personal manner. Chris did warn that cameras are going to be put up through out the builds to find the theif. He also reminded all patrol officers that we are to stay in the walk areas not to enter offices or cubical area unless there is a problem. If the ex employee was seen on camera in these areas then he was wrong anyway.
Crystal Brown HR for Providence office is a great woman. When I was first hired I had no car so she found sites off of the bus routes and hours that the busses run. If I needed anything work related she would get it for in a timely manner. I did lose hours at my first site and Crystal was not in the office for personal reasons and the covering HR person was also very helpful in getting me to a new site. After Crystal's return to work she called me to check and make sure that everything was ok at my new site Being the one in question by the ex employee.
I started with Securitas from a friend tell how much he liked the company and it's willingness to help. Securitas also has on line training program to help their employees learn more on how to do better. We as employees, if at the right post like this one, can do that on line training on site and will be getting payed for it. Some sites offer the on line training on your off shifts and will pay you well while you learn. The more you learn and get payed the better I say. They can fire you but they can never take back what you have learned on there dollar. I also have told friends to come work for Securitas and they have, one is now a site supervisor they both have been with Securitas over a year and are also very happy with the company and all of the staff they have worked with.
Also Sensata Technologies is one of the highest paying accounts and they do require that security get trianed in C.P.R. and first aid, a one day 4-6 hour course that we as employees get payed for and being full time that training is payed over time we do not pay out of pocket for the training Sensata pays for it and pay over time for us to better ourselves with something that no one can take away from us. To be able to put on a resume C.P.R and First Aid cetified is a good thing in this field.
In point one person did wrong got cought DID NOT fes-up and was fired. I think if he had said yes i did it am sorry but i needed the money maybe things would have gone different for him. I know of a coulpe employees that have done wrong not theft but other things against the rules and they got a week without pay or sent to another site. I think that is more then fair for a company and the people that work for the company to do.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Different Experience

AUTHOR: Jackie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 19, 2008

My name is Jackie and I am an ex employee of Securitas, I worked out of the Providence office for about a year. I must say this was one of the best jobs I have had. Reading over the above statment does not make any sense to me seeing myself and all my fellow co workers at the time were very much treated with respect and fairness. It sounds to me that the above gentlemen did something he regrets now and is trying to blame the company for his wrong doing. Remeber people we have these sites to prove companies and products that are misleading or use unethical business practices and they should not be used to rationalize your own mistakes.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Ask DOL about being force to sign something under duress

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 02, 2008

Sounds like you need to get a lawyer and/or report these folks to the DOL.

1. Never sign anything without reading it. Especially if they say you won't get paid until after you do. This in itself is illegal and you should report it.

2. Have the attorney demand photographic proof that you stole anything or could have possibly done so. Ask also for the police report information as well.

3. You should fight this firing in anyway possible the theft part especially. This will follow you around the rest of your life if you let it.

Pretty sure Mass is a "employee at will" state which means you can be fired for anything at anytime and with no recourse. At the very least you can have the reason you were fired corrected so that you can work elsewhere.
