This company is a true ripoff! Advertised on TV as a Police Department fund raising organization, this company operates like no other auction. You bid on bids and when you authorize your bid purchase, you need to go into your account and authorize the purchase. However, during the bidding process, a window appears and if you think you are using the bids you have already purchased, you get a big surprise that is never included in your list of authorized purchases. An expensive lesson for me! I wanted to purchase a computer for my son, so I gave it a try. It seemed pretty simple. After purchasing over 500 bids for just a few dollars, there was also a $500 purchase on my account. I won NOTHING and I had no idea I had purchased more bids because that shows up on a different screen!

I am sure I can't even deduct this from my taxes as a donation to the Police Department!

Don't be fooled by the low prices you see on this auction site.

Yes, the news report was an online version. I thought it was real, but I can see now that it was a fake, just as the auction is a fake auction.

Thanks for the advice. I am working with my bank right now, but I will also file a report with the FTC and AG offices.

No doubt you were scammed onto this scam site. But you state in the report that this was advertised on TV?

What TV station? I do notice on their website they are running a video. A lot of these scam gambling fake auction sites do this. It is NOT a real TV ad or news report. It is designed to look like a real news report from TV to give it a sense of legitimacy and lure in more suckers/ victims.

Now the fake news report on the website does claim the police use auctions and get a cut, but this is only to "imply" this scam site is a police auction..but never have I heard this is any kind of fund raising for the police dept.I looked at the entire homepage of the scam site..and nowhere does it say this is for police fund raising. I would think they would want to make that clear if it was true.

If you did see an actual ad on TV claiming this scam site is for police fund raising let us know more detail so it can be investigated. The fake video on the scam site says this right under it..."News 9 and video is not affiliated with SellOffAuctions"

So they are disassociating themselves, but yet using it to promote the site? And what is "News 9"? All good questions. The answer is all fake..all lies, all deception, all scam.

Another question. When you were on the site and using it..did you realize this is actually more like online gambling for prizes and "bids", then a legitimate auction? Did you feel the "bids" were more like virtual poker chips as opposed to having any cash value, even though you were being deceptively charged for them?

I also notice they compare themselves to eBay. What they fail to mention however, is that with eBay, the action ends when the time is up..and only the winner pays anything.

With these gambling sites..everyone pays win or lose. And since no one really knows when the "auction" will end since they keep resetting the time as bids come in..it is a gamble no matter how you slice it. Now with any gambling site or casino..it is always in the best interests of the house that as many gamblers/members/customers LOSE as possible. Is that like eBay? Yet they insinuate they are better and compare themselves?

Report these slimeballs to the FTC and AG office. Let the site know you are doing this and will continue to report on blogs and complaint sites. Maybe you can get a refund. Let them know you are on to their "game".
