I went to this Shell Station with a flat tire. They asked if they could remove the tire to see if it could be repaired. I told them go ahead. They removed the tire and said they could repair it for $15. I thought great!  The next day I hear the familiar flap flap flap and know my tire is flat again.  I call AAA and the driver tells me that they never should have tried to repair this tire and that now that it went flat again it ruined the sidewall of my tire and it will have to be replaced.  $126.34 for a new tire and again the tire place tellsz me that Shell never should have repaired this tire and that if they would have taken it off the rim like they are supposed to they would have seen that but of course they left the tire on the rim and didn't even use soap bubbles or something to be sure the leak was fixed before letting me go. So I call Shell and they tell me I need to speak with the owner Sean who will be in Monday.  I go to Shell Monday morning and tell Sean about this nightmare and he says he will give me the $15 back for the repair!!  I ask him what about the $126.34 for the tire that had to be replaced because your employee did not patch it properly and didn't even check to see if the patch worked before he sent me on my way and he just kept insisting he would give me the $15 only and ignoring that fact that they screwed up.  I told him I would take the $15 and see him in court and asked for his last name which he refused to give. He said he would only give me the $15 if I sign a release for court and the tire they ruined. I told him I am not signing anything. He then told me to get out of his garage before he "Makes me get out".  I then called the Santa Ana police and they made him give his name and information.  I am suing Sean Klein and want everyone in Santa Ana and surrounding areas to know that they will be ripped off and god forbid if they ruin your car they certainly won't take responsibility without going to court to fight when they are wrong in the first place.  Any reputable business would have given me the $15 plus the $126.34 but this is not a reputable business and they prefer to pay more in court.  Believe me when I take that tire into court with the pictures and testimony from the driver of the Tow Truck and American Tire Depot, they are going to loose and they deserve it. I am now going to the Better Business Bureau and the City of Santa Ana to complain.

That does not look like permanent type patch

AUTHOR: Richard - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 23, 2010

Looking at the photo, it looks like the type I have seen selling at the auto part stores. If I think what it is, its only good for temporally repair. The correct one is a patch that is installed from the inside the tire, as long the tire is not damaged its a pretty good permanent repair.

A reputable business would have done the repair correct or reject it in the first place. I had my tire patched several times with no problem. Only my tires like to collect sharp objects.

Go to an auto parts store and look at the package sold there similar to the one you have in your tire. Ask the sales rep for assistant to compare it for you. Read the instructions and it will tell you its a temporally repair. Buy it and use it in court.

I say you have a good case and take them to small claims court. Good luck
