This company signed me up for a "membership" without my knowlege or authorization, and then proceeded to debit my account $12.00 per month for at least five (5) months before I discovered it.
The company did offer to cancel the membership and issue a refund of the memberhip fee when I called and complained. So far, I have seen no credits to my account for anything. After 3-5 business days, the Bank can take action.
Very critical: I NEVER authorized any membership or any debits from my account for any memberships, even though they say I did. I suspect this was done while I was purchasing movie tickets online through www.movietickets.com

They got me too!

This is what happened to me.
I bought a DVD from Deep Discounts, then a Rebate popped up if I purchased one more by a certain date. I of course clicked on it. Filled out my information, and put my email address on the form, twice. Once I clicked to verify my information, they zapped my credit card information from Deep Discount.
I just got off the phone with Shopper Discounts & Rewards. She said that it did say on the rebate form that I agree to any charges. The information on any monthly charges had to have been in tiny print. Why would I agree to pay $12 month to get a $10 rebate. I never actually entered my credit card information on any Shoppers Discounts & Rewards site. Legit sites take your credit card info on their own page. So to me this is very crooked. You don't realize you are being charged anything because you are not entering your credit card information.
She said I would be credited the $12 and not charged anything else. So time will tell on that. I am lucky it was just this first charge. I check my bank online weekly. If I didn't do that, I might not have noticed this for months.
I'm going to call Deep Discounts and let them know about this.

It was YOUR FAILURE TO PAY ATTENTION when you did it. Internet shopping
You either completed a survey or took advantage of $$ off your current order.
The disclosures are there -most people MAKE A CHOICE not to read them. This is what you did. YOU CHOSE not to read it.
The Today show did a piece on these worthless membership programs, after receiving viewer complaints. Every website they visited had full disclosures about being signed up.
The companies behind these membership programs KNOW that consumers do not pay attention and take full advantage of it.
I have avoided the programs - but not completing the surveys and not taking the $$ off offers.
