In January 2007 I was enrolled, without my consent, in a Shopper Discounts and Rewards program from a company by that very name. They bill you $10.00 a month for the membership and it could go unnoticed if you have a lot of other big amounts you have to pay on your credit statement.

When I finally noticed that I was getting charged for it this month, I checked previous statements, which unfortunately only go back three months, and to my surprise, they had been there as well. I immediately called my credit card issuer and asked them about this transaction and whether or not they will stop it. They said they couldn't do anything about it and sounded like they wouldn't even try. I then spoke to the manager which said all the same.

I have e-mailed the Shopper Discounts and Rewards customer service and are awaiting their response. I have asked for a refund for the membership I had no idea I signed up for, much less benefited from. I also notified them about filing reports here and with the Federal Trade Commission, I hope that gets them motivated.

Apparently, many others have had the same experience dating all the way back to March 2006.

I have had numerous outings with scams, fraud, and the like recently. I am getting very tired of it all.
