On June 9,2012 I won a CO2 Incubator from Sierra Auction. I called in the same day in reference to payment & freight shipping for my item. I spoke with an agent in shipping by the name of Chris Rushford who told me he'd set up shipping for my item purchased with a top freight company, just give him a little time. On June 13,2012 I called Chris Rushford an asked him of his progress on finding an freight shipping. Chris told me he found a reliable freight company but was unsure of the price & he'd get back to me asap. Within 4 days without any return calls from Chris I decided to set up my own freight. I called Chris on June 15,2008 making him aware I'd set up my own freight company to pick up my item on Friday June 15,2012. On that Friday Chris told me that my freight company did come for pickup but without a Bill of Laden (bol). The freight company returned back on Monday June 18,2012 for pick & was told by the  shipping  department my package was already picked up by a freight company.

To make a long story short, Chris Ruthford gave my item to another without receipt to another customer/buyer by mistake. Even though the buyer lived in California, he gave my package without a copy of receipt (BOL signed by freight co.) Sierra auctions refuse to rectify their mistake. I won an item, paid for pickup/freight and they gave my item to another buyer & feel no responsibility at all. All i requested from Sierra is the shipping of my item to their locale or to me. A cowardly move by Chris Rushford was the send of no fault o Sierra through an email, no plans to resolve the issue. I lost money not only on setting up a freight but much time wasted call back Sierra Auction & the buyer who received my item by mistake. Chris Rushford & his company should feel ashamed of their bad business practices. This company honesty rates low in my book.

$40 Title Fee

AUTHOR: President - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 11, 2013

Sir/Madame,

To our vehicle buyers it appears that all we're doing is handing you a title for $40.  However, when we receive the titles from the consignors, we have a lot of behind-the-scenes work that has to be done.  We assure that every title is free and clear of liens and make sure that it is properly authenticated and filled out so that the buyer won't have any problems at the MVD.  It costs money to complete vehicle background checks.  This is all for YOUR protection.  It's a small price to pay for piece of mind.

This place rips you off from head to toe. They charge a $40.00 fee to get the title from a lady in the next room for the vehicle that you purchased.

Response to Msjadestiny2001 complaint about Sierra Auction

AUTHOR: President - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 27, 2012

This is in response to the complaint by Msjadestiny2001 regarding the incubator shipment.  The claim is that we never contacted her about shipping and therefore she had to set up her own shipping.  The email below states otherwise:

From: Chris Rushford [mailto:chris.rushford@sierraauction.com]
Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 9:45 AM
To: (((email redacted)))
Subject: Lot 2311

Hi Fatimah,
You recently purchased Lot 2311 (Fisher Scientific Incubator) from our June 9th auction. I looked into shipping for this item and I estimated it to be between $250-$300 to ship it to you. Please e-mail me back or call 602-242-7121 and let me know what you would like to do.

Thank you,
Chris Rushford  |
Surplus Inventory Manager  |
Sierra Auction Management, Inc.

We never heard back from Fatimah until her own shipper arrived to pick up the item.  They arrived without the proper paperwork and therefore we couldn't release the item.  It is true that there was an error made on Monday when another shipper loaded Fatimah's item, along with several other pallets, and took it to California.  For that, we apologize.

We intended to get the item back to Phoenix so that her shipper could pick up the item - however, that wasn't good enough for her.  She felt we should pay the full shipping to her home in Pennsylvania.  At no time was our solution acceptable to her as she states in her report.

We would have picked up the cost to get the item back to Phoenix and, likewise, would have picked up the shipping cost difference between the routes of L.A./PA and PHX/PA, but Fatimah chose a different path of resolution to this issue, which is what you are reading.

She's more than welcome to contact me if she still has issues.  Sierra Auction has a very high degree of integrity and while we occasionally make mistakes, we are willing to resolve them in a fair manner.  For what it's worth, Mr. Rushford is no longer employed at Sierra.
