We went to this dealership stating to our sales woman that we only wanted to put down a certain dollar amount.  In the conversations back and forth with the manager it was verbally agreed that Smith Haven Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram would pay off the last 4 payments on the car we currently had along with the mileage overage and we just have to put down the amount we originally agreed on.

When it came time to sign a contract they could not keep the quote originally stated because we did not meet the requirements for the original bank. The finanace guy then put our loan through another bank and our price went up slightly.  They tried to get us to give double the amount we originally asked to put down.  When we said no they said ok and agreed upon an amount and they said they would mail the last four payment to the bank.

Well low and behold that never took place.  I am now getting bills from the bank.  They never amde the payments and are saying we never agreed on this.

So it boils down to the fact that the finance guy wrote up the wrong amounts in our agreement and they were able to get out of making payments.

Instead of honoring this the finance guy from the dealership called my husband and curswed him out and the Manager called me threatening that she lives around the block from me.

This dealership is a complete scam artist.  Buyer beware.....

Contract mis lead us

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, July 06, 2016

The contract that was signed is NOT what was verbally said to us. The finance manager scammed us after 6 hours of being there and going back and forth with a verbal agreement. They stated they would send a check to my prior lease company when they returned the car I left behind. They never did and are now saying they never agreed to this. The owner will not call me back. A manager of the company threatened me that I should be aware that she lives around the block from me. And the social media rep that is in charge of addressing complaints lied saying that they came up with a way to make us happy if we stopped writing about them online o my to have the finance guy curse us out. We have leased cars for 20 years. Consider ourselves intelligent. Only to be totally scammed. Buyers beware

What does the purchase contract say?

How in the world would you not know the amount due at the time of signing? Were there blanks in the contract? If so, you should not have signed it.

The amount you pay for the vehicle should be clearly spelled out in the contract before you sign it.

I am not defending this dealership at all because the F&I people are trained to lie to consumers and it is up to you to be on guard so you don't get taken by them. S/he didn't use the wrong amounts. You were deceived by a finance person trained in the art of deception. That is what they do. As a consumer you have to read and understand the contract before you consider signing it.

The best thing to do now is to make your payments on time and refinance when it will be beneficial to you. Check your contract to see if they have loaded up the purchase with a warranty or other un-necessary expenses. If they have, then research the warranty to see if it is worth anything as far as its coverage and if it isn't, cancel it and get that money back. At least get it credited to your balance so you pay less for the vehicle. (Most third party warranty's are worthless but you won't know without actually checking the warranty contract terms.) If you cancel the warranty quickly after the purchase of a vehicle, then the dealership doesn't get the extra commission on the warranty.
