April 2001 my sprint cell phone was turned off for non payment of $200.

June 2001 I call topay my bill in full - I am notified by the sprint employee that my bill is $6000 + dollars. NOT $200. I ask them how this could be and they told me I had used the phone online. I assured them that this was not so because they had turned off the phone and I had no access to it. They assured me that the bill was mine even though I had not recieved a bill in 2 months. So I decided not to give them any money. This would have implicated that the bill was mine.

July 2001 - I called Sprint to try to discuss my bill again. I was now informed my bill was about $10,000. I almost had a heart attack. How could my bill be so high. well it seems I had not requested my phone be turned off. So how could they turn my phone off at $200. and still let t go to $10,000. wthout me having access to it. That question will never be answered. I reported this to the police department in my town and they saaid that the phone was cloned. When Iwent back to Sprint with this information, they told me it was impossible for this to happen with thier phones and I was responsible.

They where holding my CREDIT FOR RANSOM. If I didn't pay I could never do anything as far as buying a home, getting a checking / savings account. My life was on hold. But if I paid it would say that the bill was mine and be on my credit reports for 7 years. To me this is a form of blackmail. If I even paid a dime of it it was mine and would never go away.

After fighting over 4 years with them and no results - I had changed jobs and meet my employer with a heart of gold and a head for business. He put me intouch with an attorney who was too expensive for me to pay but gave me advice that I would never forget.

Get a copy of the bill and if they refuse let them bring you to court and let the judge see nothing - If they cannot produce the bill then there is no bill.

File reports with the following:
April 2004

Contact the B.B.B. Most impressive.
Contact the FCC - they take this very seriously.
Contact the Attorney General of the state the business is in they follow up.

Check your email everyday this is how they contact you also put a phone number where you can be contacted all the time.

After one month from these reports I recived an email from the BBB and responed by telling them that this is blackmail and was very angry with the whole thing.

Within one week I had recieved a phone call from Sprint to apploigize for any inconvince and sent a letter of appology.

With in 3 month my credit report went from a 325 to a 651. By Oct 2004 I was able to get a home checking account savings account and a car.

I won the battle but they lost big time becuase my company was going to use Sprint as the main phone company and they went to verizon to be safe.

DO NOT PAY THE BILL IF YOU DID NOT CREATE IT. DON'T TAKE A PAY DOWN.

It was four years not seven and my credit is clear.
