I checked into the "services" provided by Stamps.com and found that their fee of $16 a month was too much for what they provided and for what my small business needed or could afford, so I never used their service. They charged me the $16 a month fee anyway even thought as I just said I never used them!

I was online and got attacked by malware so I had to cancel my credit card. Because I cancelled my credit card Stamps sent me an email saying that they couldn't charge me. This came as quite a shock to me that they were trying to charge me. My wife gets our statements so I was unaware of the charge, she never mentioned it to me.

I informed Stamps that I would no longer be paying them and that I would like a refund because I had never used their service. Stamps refused to refund any money, telling me that I had gotten a free month of service.

The email that Stamps sent me about not being able to charge my account was the first email I had gotten from them. If I hadn't cancelled my credit card I would have been paying Stamps for another 6 months until my card expired. As it is Stamps got 8 or 9 months at $16 a month for something I never used or ever intended to use. Now no matter how big my company might become and it is more than doubling in size, I will never ever use Stamps!

Cant remember if I used a credit card or not, but if I did it was one I was gonna report stolen anyway.

I decided it was a ripoff and never completed the deal.

I still get emails from these guys wanting me to "complete registration" or something.

Screw them.

How did they get your card info?

You "checked into" the services, or you signed up for them?   There's a big difference.  I "checked into" their site and it was pretty clear that they charge a monthly fee.   I was not required to give them my credit card at any point.   Did you perhaps sign up for the 4-week free trial?  If so, it's pretty clear that (like most free trials) you have to cancel before the trial period is up to avoid being charged.

The fact that they had your card info would lead me to believe you signed up for their service.  Much like any other monthly service (telephone, Internet), they don't care if you use it or not.  If you are subscribed, you pay.
