My first day at this school a student put up a tempertantrum because the first time teacher was assigning homework. The student walked out of class indicated that Strayer wasn't a real school, and the teacher would soon learn that.

Same night, I hear a student sharing with anyone who would listen about how much time they had to waste, only to get no where, fighting the financial aid to get their act together. The student was so upset that they had written several letters up the chain and was very upset that they had yet to receive a response. At the time they said it had been going on for months. They also indicated that this was not the first time that they had encountered problems with the department, and as a result they lost out on financial aid, and has to now pay out of pocket.

As for myself, it has been over 5 months since I filed for Financial Aid. However, my bill with Strayer is still outstanding.

When attending classes, more than one teacher had gone on and on about irrelevant topics, killing class time, and then dismissing us for breaks. When confronted and pushing for further explanations on subject topics, these type of remarks were brushed aside with a simply reply of, "Well go over it later."

The same day, a student from the class pulled me aside and advised they had been attending the school just to have the piece of paper for a completed degree, but didn't expect to gain any new knowledge or real skills from attending Strayer University. They then strongly suggested I find another school considering I was seeking to gain skills.

I would never recommend this school. Not even for those just seeking a degree. You pay all that money and spend all your time for what . .? You might as well gain something from the experience. Besides, remember your education is there to back you up when your employer turns to you for updated skills or technology, and for new creative ideas, analytical troubleshooting. A piece of paper might get you through the door, but you sure wont get very far, and when budgets need to get crunched, you just might be the first to go with no skills to back up that piece of paper.

Be smart. Good Luck.
