I always wanted to own a Subaru, which in this country are expensive. However I managed to buy one in 2008 thinking that it was the best purchase I've even done in my life. I was extremely happy and satisfied with my purchase, until now.

The problem is that the fuel pump got defective for no apparent reason. Even though the car has 1 year warranty left, the Subaru authorized repair facility people is telling me that I have to pay over $1100 to have that part replaced.

When I purchased this car I thought it had 3 year warranty for manufacturing issues. I always take my car to the only local Subaru authorized facility for service, it's not cheap, but I always wanted to have the best for the investment I did 2 years ago, you could even ask for my repair file over there.

The authorized car facility people are telling me that electrical issues are not covered, which made me wonder why am I paying for a 3 year warranty car which doesnt cover an issue (defective fuel pump) that usually should not happen in at least 10 years. In Subaru cars I know it could be more because of its supposed quality.

Interesting to mention too, I took the car before because it started to give trouble for not starting up. It happen to me once, I worked it out to get the engine started, then took it to the authorized repair facility. They couldnt find anything wrong at the moment. Then, after 2-3 weeks, the cars died, it was not starting at all.

Yes ROZBERT from buffalo..you are a creepy scary INTERNET STALKER..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, December 02, 2010

..and as SELF evident..is obsessed with me..and on some kind of crusade to discredit me. You are a loser...let us review..

"LOL!  Ahh, your new victimhood stance-internet stalking!  No one is stalking you.  Im merely correcting your warranty misinformation about used cars that are sold as is.  There is no need for anyone to try to discredit you.  You do a wonderful job of that all by yourself."

If you find something I stated is incorrect, or you disagree with it..why not question me as a MAN? Why post things like...and I quote.."not so rozzy"? You think because you made up some nick name for me...or implications that I have something to do with a wizard adds to your credence? Nope..just makes you look like a BIGGER baffoon then you already are.

Oh and for the record..I do not claim I am a "victim" of your stalking, I actually find it quite amusing and am almost flattered that someone would devote so much time and effort following me..but certainly, you are EXTREMELY obsessed with me, and I do not know why. I feel no threat however because I KNOW you are a coward...and face to face I would pummel you with a feather.

"Sure you did!  There you go trying to deflect the issue rather than man-up and admit your mistake.  You stated that a used car, sold as is, doesnt have a warranty unless it is in writing YOU ARE WRONG-it depends on the State in which the sale transpires.  Here is your statement again.  Read it very slowly Rozzy."

What about me stating and I quote..."Perhaps I did not state clear enough what I meant." do you not understand?

A used car..sold "as is" DOES NOT HAVE AN IMPLIED WARRANTY...read that slow you moron..and kindly post where in ANY state...a used vehicle sold "as-is" has a warranty.

"Hey, I understand why a used car seller as you would want everyone to believe that a used car, sold as is, has no warranty whatsoever, but I would also expect someone who is from NY, in the auto industry and is a trained electrical engineer (hows that BSEE degree working for you?) to know better than to make such a blanket statement."

Then show me Mr. expert..how I am wrong? And please stop obsessing over my accomplishments...it makes you look very envious. I can not help it if you are inferior to me. And..trying to imply I am a used car salesman means nothing. I have sold some vintage and collectibles on eBay I restored MYSELF...cars that are 40-50 years old..I do not think I had any worries about warranty claims you retard.

Then again, your reading comprehension shortcomings are legend on ROR.  Remember this little jewel?

Based on my intensive research, I have determined that Thursday comes AFTER Wednesday if discussing the same week. Yeah..guess I am clueless?

LMAO!!!

Explain to us all you obsessed lunatic....how I was wrong on that report. Did I do anything but base my comments in response to EXACTLY what was posted and explain it clearly enough? Even an idiot like you could understand?

You really need to find a better hobby then devoting your dying days to obsessing over my posts here and living a life just to discredit me. It will not work. I am NOT the one who has a problem admitting if I am wrong. YOU are the one who has a problem trying to prove me wrong with no basis and putting me up on some kind of pedestal by embellishing statements I post here. If I posted that I like swimming I guess you would accuse me of claiming to be an Olympic gold medalist? What the hell is your problem with me?

Happy ending

AUTHOR: INDIGO - (Costa Rica)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 01, 2010

Well, after 2 week of fighting the company I finally got them to realize that this situation should be covered in warranty since this is manufacturing failure so they will cover the part and have it replaced for free.

I even think I got a discount on my next purchase... :-)

I did not mean to imply any used car does not have a warranty, I meant to imply the technical definition of a USED car.

okay ROZbert..

..RoZbert the magnificent know it all..still internet stalking me on this site and spending his dying days in some kind of obsessive feeble mission to discredit me. Retard.

Perhaps I did not state clear enough what I meant. I did not mean to imply any used car does not have a warranty, I meant to imply the technical definition of a USED car. What about the definition of a used car that I stated is different in NYS then any other state in the USA?

As far as tech1 I agree, it is not stated the car was used. As well, we do not know the mileage and which I stated in my first reply, that I do not know the laws in his country regarding auto warranties.

But I think we could all agree at least in this country, a fuel pump would certainly be covered under a manufacturers warranty if the vehicle is still covered. The dealer is telling him electrical issues are not covered. So, what can be concluded or at the very least..assumed?

what is the millage?

He never said he bought it used. The 3/36 warrant covers every thing even bulbs. Have you driven past the 36K? The 5/60 I do not believe it covers the fuel pump. My 2008 outback has 61K and no issues what is the fuel quality their?

Not so Rozzy

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

On a used car sold "as-is", (a used car is considered ANY car that was previously registered to someone else other then the dealer..even if it was never driven)..pretty much nothing is covered unless it is stated in print, or the ad contained blatantly false misrepresentation, IE: false advertising

NOT SO in New York State.  In NYS, any automobile, minivan, suv or pickup (non-commercial use) vehicle sold for consumer use with LESS THAN 100K miles has a "warranty of merchantability" that CANNOT be waived-even if the waiver is in writing.  NYS has one of the best "lemon laws" regarding used vehicles purchased from a dealer.  The length of time and items covered depends on the MILEAGE on the vehicle.

This warranty specified by state law cannot be waived-period.  Further, a dealer is defined as any business or PRIVATE PERSON who sells more than THREE vehicles in a 12 month period.

The only exceptions to this State mandated warranty is a vehicle that has more than 100k miles or is sold to a consumer as a PARTS VEHICLE-not intended to be driven on public roads.

Other states may have similar statutes.

It depends..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 25, 2010

I guess the laws can be different in your country but how it works here depends on the warranty, and who it is from.

If you purchased the car new, most likely in this country a fuel pump would be covered.

On a used car sold "as-is", (a used car is considered ANY car that was previously registered to someone else other then the dealer..even if it was never driven)..pretty much nothing is covered unless it is stated in print, or the ad contained blatantly false misrepresentation, IE: false advertising.

Where most Americans get screwed, is with "extended" warranties the dealer sold them to jack up the profit on the sale..or purchased from outside warranty companies. They get out of almost everything by the fine print. If they do not cover electrical..well what does that leave to cover? Many will state they do not cover gaskets and seals also..well that can have them deny almost any mechanical part of the vehicle, including total engine failure..they can claim a leaky gasket caused it, hence it is not covered.

So what is covered? I guess if the bumper falls off or the windows pop out? Not really much left. Yep, rip off. Are there any agencies in your country that help consumers? If so, look into that. They can force the dealer to cover this if the vehicle has a factory warranty.
