January 20, 2001 Sunoco over pressurized and split a home heating oil tank around 300 to 400 gallons of oil migrated into the basements of two Chester Township homes. The driver left the slip without warning of danger. January 23, 2001 PECO discovered about 200 gallons of oil in neighbor's basement approaching her gas heater the oil was pumped out. Sunoco paid to have oil from the spill site pumped into the sewer.

There were 3 spill victims, spill site victims/ tenant was forced to move due to strong fumes from oil left his basement with no assistance from Sunoco. The owner of the spill site has lost rent for the past 5 years as Sunoco hires detective to check court records in hopes that the owner loose the property, stating they would have no liability to the new owner.
The owner of the twin home attached to the spill site moved back home in 3 days after Sunoco pumped around two hundred gallons of oil and water off her dirty basement floor thinking it was safe to breath in fumes from gases in the soil. She has suffered a stroke, heart attack memory loss and more.

Mulry & Cresswell Environmental provided Sunoco with a bogus report stating no further action is recommended for the remediation of this release without entering nor testing the soil in the two basements with took several hundred gallons of oil. They merely tested soil placed in a pit in the under the air conditioner in the back yard of the spill site. Sunoco found oil in the basement of the spill site within weeks of that report and promised to return and remediate the basement but did not.

Why didn't EPA and PADEP and other government agencies respond to this spill, remove both victims, offer some assistance, monitor the remediation and respond to years of complaints that not testing of soil and water in these two basements were done by Sunoco? That is a mystery. Why didn't EPA or PADEP remove the contaminated soil under these homes or warn the victim which remained of the dangers of breathing gases left in the soil since Sunoco didn't? Why didn't they fine Sunoco Inc. and Mulry & Cresswell Environmental for violation of environment, health and safety laws and fraudulent activities?

Sunoco gave a good talk about being a local company interested in keeping good relations and promised to take care of it's customer of many years, the spill site owner. They promise to take care better care of the owners/victims if they did not have an attorney than if they did have one. It has been a knight mare full of lies and deception. The elderly black victim knew nothing about environmental issues and Sunoco took advantage of that. She has nowhere to go and Sunoco will not remediate the contaminated soil below her floors, which appears to be destroying her health. She said she prays God will help her/fix it, if Sunoco's love of money is stopping them from helping her.

Sunoco paid a Landscaping company $3,745.50 to handle the cleanup $100.00 of that was for two men to watch oil in the basement being pumped into the sewer. No pumping trucks no remediation in the basement. Sunoco insurance department ESIC also faxed their bill with This job is not finished removed.
Sunoco appear to have a dark side which causes all eyes, ears and mouths to shut and ignore violations.

Edlerly Sunoco Oil Spill Victim Dies February 16, 2006 After Living Over Contaminated Soil For 5 Years As Sunoco Request the 8th Extension Without Proper Remediation

AUTHOR: Barbara - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 09, 2006

Ask Sunoco the affects of breathing in toxic substances 365 days for 24 hours a days a year for 5 years. Will it kill you? I don't know but, I imagine it would make you feel awful bad and probably trigger other medical problems that would.

Sunoco gave us our own personal Katrina/Sunoco and help has not arrived in 5 years. Maybe it is true the government only responds for certain people and we obviously are not the kind.

I could not get help for my elderly neighbor it appears all request were ignored by Sunoco and government officials for years. I am currently without an attorney; I need one that will fright for the truth to be told.

Send this message to everyone who helps victims and to John Drosdick Sunoco's CEO, tell him to DO The RIGHT THING and Remove the contaminated soil beneath the foundations of these two homes or buy them and tear them down and settle this case. No more extensions, Sunoco just requested the 8th extension without remediating the two basements or identifying 3 witnesses/employees following the death of a spill victim.
