Suresh Chavakula M.D., Gastrointerologist Verbally assaulting physician Fort Myers Florida

My daughter is very healthy and active 30+ year old wife and mother. She developed lingering gastrointestinal symptoms and began loosing weight. She went to see her medical doctor. The tests performed revealed no answers so she was refered to Dr. Chavakula.

Two days before Dr. Chavakula was to perform an EGD (looking down the esophagus into the stomach), she developed severe abdominal pain and had to be taken to the Emergency Room at Southwest Regional Medical Center. The ER physician tried to contact Dr. Chavakula to no avail. Pain was relieved and she was sent home.

She had her EGD two days later at Southwest Regional Medical Center. Just before going to sleep for her procedure Dr. Chavakula began yelling and screaming at her for going to the ER in the presence of an Anesthesiologist, RN and Endo Tech. He followed her to the recovery area and continued his yelling and screaming at my daughter and son-in law. He had my daughter in tears.

The RN responded to the patient's need by saying "He does this so much we don't even pay attention to him". Obviously this is his usual behavior.

The RN and the Anesthesiologist did not act as the patient's advocate to stop this behavior and the Administration at Lee Memorial Hospital does nothing to stop the abuse of patients.

His own employee asked him in the office about my daughter and he used offensive language toward the employee in the presence of an office full of patients.

Two days later the employee was fired by Dr. Chavakula because the patient was her sister.
