On the first or second week of March 2005 I was notified by a company who said that I could receive a credit card with a $2500 limit if I paid a one time fee of $249. I am always a skeptic, especially if I have to pay for something. But, as embarassing as it is to admit, I was duped. I asked them all the necessary questions and they said that the phone call was being taped. I asked if it was a real credit card with a real limit, or one that I would have to pay to secure a limit (put enough cash on the card to have the balance).

I was told that it was indeed a mastercard and to check with the mastercard company for proof that they were an affiliate. I asked them if it was one of those credit cards for a catalog. They said no. They then told me that on March 26,2005 the $249 would be withdrawn from my checking and TWO WEEKS later I would receive my credit card that I could use as an atm card or a cash card. Once again I asked if I could take this card as soon as I got it, activate it and then go to the store and charge with it without paying any money. They said yes. Four weeks went by and still no card. I called the 866 number that they gave me and asked what was going on. They said that it took 25 BUSINESS DAYS for me to receive my card. This was totally different from what I was told when they called me. I told the person this and she proceeded to tell me that they were just a customer service company that took calls for this company, they had nothing to do with the process and had no idea what to tell me except to wait. By this time I wanted a refund, but she said that I would have to wait for my "Packet" to arrive.

I called again a WEEK AFTER the 25 business days were up with still not receiving my card. I spoke to a woman who told me they were having a problem with shipping because packets were being issued with no card in them and that the company was recalling these packages to issue the card with them and this was what was holding up the process. I called again when it had been TWO MONTHS since the phone call and the money withdrawn out of my account with still no package and the gentleman that I spoke to send that it took a little while for ups to ship the package to me. They shipped the package to ups, which took three days, then ups shipped it to me, which could take three days and to call back at the end of that week. I just received the package via US POSTAL MAIL!! And in the package was, you guessed it, NO CARD!!! Instead, what I found was an application for a "stored value" cash card and that I had to apply once again and pay an additional $39.95 processing fee!!!!!

When I called the customer service number yet again, the woman got irrate with me and told me that they did not work for this company! She told me they only took messages for this company, an answering service!!! I asked her what the $249 paid for and she told me the package! I am writing a letter to this company and trying to get my money back, but unfortunatley I think that I have to chalk this one up to a very difficult lesson learned. I will NEVER believe ANYTHING over the phone again. Really research before you go for it! If I had gone to this website first, I probably would have saved myself almost three months of grief!
