Swift Funds Continues to harrass me after payment of funds I didn't owe. I went to World Gym several times after cancelling in 10/12 and they put me in collection w/ Bennet Law w/out a contract. California

I have bill sent previously that are not mine and a cancellation form from World Gym. I never used the gym but Swift Funds continues to call me daily although I paid via American Express the amount they said I owed just to get them off my back. Please someone help. I have an 807 credit rating.
I registered with World Gym in Waldorf, MD in 2011 or 12 but never used the gym because of illness. I went back to cancel since monthly payments were taken via my American Express Card. I misplaced Cancellation Form and World Gym had no record of the previous cancellation. I have the one from October 2012. I started receiving letters from Bennet Law stating that I owed pass amounts. I visited the Gym and spoke to the persons on duty Mia. When I explained that I didn't owe anything I was told that the misunderstanding would be cleared up. After 3 trips to the gym I was still receiving phone calls and letters from Bennet Law, including a bill that is clearly not mine. Finally after a few years, I stopped receiving correspondence from Bennet Law. This year (2016) I began receiving phone calls from Swift Funds Collection Agency -- rude calls, including yelling at me and hanging up 3 times. I received one call in which I just gave up and asked how much was the bill although I had nothing in writing from them--ever. I was told the bill could be settled for @$73 (actual figure is documented on my American Express bill in April, 2016. I thought that would be the end of the harrassment; however the phone calls continue. What can I do? American citizens should be protected from this type of harrassment. World Gym has big signs saying "NO CONTRACTS" but they are ripping off customers and then sending them to collection. I pay my bills and even paid this one that I did not owe but they want more

They sound awful to deal with! I think many people wiil see your experience and never join a gym because it feels like there is NO control in ever ending the no 'contract'.
I saw an article that said they keep selling the debt for less and less money to more and more companies who collect, , there are sharks smaller and smaller willing to come after people.
The NO Contracts thing is VERY tricky and in THEIR favor.. Suddenlink Communications offers a combo phone-internet-TV service and with NO contract, NOTHING in writing to PROVE your side ...so they begin charging different rates for whatever they want.....they used 10 different excuses why I dodn't qualify for the VERY lowest rate the sales rep PROMiSED in person, that their ads, and ad materials mailed to me say...and when I finally cancelled them in frustration they ADDED money to the bill and just sent NEW bills for teh same month! ..and I had to call the FTC and file a complaint, sent Suddenlink the copy, and I never heard from thjem again again!! Maybe you can find a source to help you like this? Not the BBB, but possibly there is a final letter you can send saying you refuse o pay any more, the deal is DONE.
I am assuming you are in the right, and to hear that you can't stop them from harassing you (within whatever legal limits there are) is shocking. NO one wants to come home to calls ( or answer calls on their Phone and feel stress to handle it...)
My own experience is not understanding the collection letter sent, and what the letter means is if you DON'T reply they ALLOWS them to keep up ANY level of chasing you, and reselling your name over and over.
I had a $20 phone fee that was setteled 5 years ago in my favor.. and I am still get another letter every year or so, and didn't realize I HAVE TO call them and try to resolve it, even though It was resolved...getting on these lists is awful. and I'm too stubborn to pay the d**n $20.
