One year ago this June I was an employee and was assaulted in an employees only area of Terita's Pizza. I went to the hospital and was treated and released. I missed one day of work. I was assaulted by a 300lb. body builder guilty previously of running a mail-order horse steroid drug ring. He was also a former employee of Terita's Pizza and a good friend of the owner.

I asked the owner to ask that customer to refrain from ever coming in again and asked the owner to file a protection order for me and him and all of Terita's Pizza. The owner refused and after many requests he became annoyed and told me that if I wanted to then I can and he would help hold up the protection order but he'd have nothing to do with it. Every week this assaulter came in and verbally harassed and threatened me.

The police couldn't find an address on him that was legit, even after running his cell phone, home phone number and license plates. My boss and owner refused to be of assistance. I threatened him with a law suit and since I was a manager for him for 2 years and my working there allowed him nearly 50 extra days off per year - I felt entitled to a safe workplace environment.

After I no longer ran the front of the pizza place where I worked my boss decided to start (with-holding) reducing my pay by $45-$60 per week. He took away my second week of vacation and quit paying me for holidays. This was done in an effort to make me quit.

I then sought the advice of an attorney who sent him a notice stating that what he was doing was illegal and to prevent formal legal action he needed to reimburse my nearly $500.00, re-instate my paid holidays and my second week vacation. Instead of even consulting his own attorney - he then fired me with no notice. Some of you might be asking why I just didn't quit and get another job. Let me tell you. I have a disability that causes me pain and occassional lateness. It's Chrones disease. My boss romanced me with money away from Bank One to come and be his manager. I told him I have a severe intestinal condition which causes me severe intestinal bleeding and diarhea. He said it doesn't matter as long as I call him he'll come in and cover for me until I can get in. In fact I was even hospitalized for 15 days in December of 1998 with this disease.

Any way, only four times did I go home sick in those two years I worked for him and ALL FOUR TIMES after taking some extreme medicines that prevented me from driving - my wife (against her wishes) dropped me back off at work so I could finish my night being his manager. Now how many employee's in America feel that dedicated to the job? Not many! And this is how he treats "...he's one of my best employees ever!... I asked my supervisor what his reasoning was for firing me and he says "I got a threatening letter from his attorney and I just want it to go away." Not too bright huh? Well, on my termination day he gave me a one week's severance check of $360.00.

He still owes me for two vacation days, Easter Holiday pay, and $500.00 in back pay for when he was skimming my pay check to make me want to leave. And the 2nd week vacation if you don't consider his $360.00 gesture of what he called severance pay.

Now I'm having trouble getting a good job. With the big corporate pizza places if you're late 3 times even a minute logging in you are fired! Bank One has long since filled my position and maybe 6-10 weeks before they even have a part-time position for me at $6000.00 less per year than what Terita's Pizza paid me.

Now I've thought of everything to do to him. My boss was an income tax evader since he got the business so do I turn him into the IRS? No, because he gave me a total of 5 bonuses "under the table" and my stupid a*s accepted them. So I can't do that.

He refuses to hire any blacks or women, even though they apply so I've thought about writing the NAACP, and N.O.W. National Organization for Women. But I doubt they'd waste their time picketing him.

He inherited this business from his father who founded it in 1959, and he has no business sense whatsoever. He has a customer base of about 500 regulars. He keeps his restaurant in a bad neighborhood where we are at greater risk.

He promised for 5 years and made up plans to move us up north by his $300,00.00 mansion and have two pizza places. One would be mine to manage.

After he saw how much living in a house like that costs he can't even afford to move the one restaurant much less start a second one so he's there to stay. Now he's saving nearly $22,700.00 per year now that he's fired me. I don't want my job back. I just want my money.

Now going by my making $90.53 per day gross he owes me:$ (2 unpaid vacation days, Easter, the day I was injured and missed (BWC Burea of Workers Compensation will not respond and I've even driven down there they want a letter from him)all of the backpay and my second weeks' vacation for a grand total of $1243.09.

Just to give you a better idea of what type of person he turned out to be he yanked my pay check around right after I enrolled back in college and three days before my wife and I were to be approved for our first home loan.

Through the grapevine he brags about how he's screwing me. I have a whole slew of people that I was the boss of that thought I was great. In fact the owner gave me 5 raises my first year. If you can help I would appreciate any suggestions.
Sincerely,
Peter McNees. P.S.-His website is www.teritas.com

I've even thougth of giving him about 100 fake orders but I don't know enough people. Unlike others he never asks for a phone number he just takes the names. We use pen and paper no computer systems. If that gives you any ideas.

The Pizza Isn't Very Good Anyway...

AUTHOR: Owen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 26, 2004

Don't worry dude, I've eaten there and the food is usually cold by the time you get it home and the food is never made the same way twice anyway! Sometimes there are too many toppings and other times not enough, cheese is one example. I don't imagine they will last much longer with the neigborhood they are in anyway. The owner sounds like a real "winner" of a businessman and probably graduated from high school just barely. Pretty soon he'll be selling tacos on a corner from a kiosk and then he'll be living at the Faith Mission. Maybe then he'll sit back with a 40 oz. and remember the good days when he had employees that cared about his business and their own personal safety in exchange for a hard days work. Rock on dude.

Don't ever work for this no talent business man with a silver spoon in his mouth, especially if you aren't a white male. If you are something other than a white male move on, he'd never hire you. He is extremely cheap. We had two out of three sinks leaking if you fill them with water, rusty big holes in the ceiling of our walk-in freezer, and black mold growing around the door of the walk-in freezer. I don't know how he passes the health department codes because he is supposed to soak all dishes in bleach, but he never has. He doesn't even have the sink space. He just keeps a bottle of bleach under the sink for when a suprise inspection pops up.
