This company overcharged me $40 - not a large sum of money, but their unprofessionalism and unwillingness to listen to my side of the story is what was truly disappointing. We had agreed on a range of $180-$210 due to the complexity of the move, with the moving company rep guessing it would be closer to $180. When the movers arrived (very friendly, but 30 minutes late) I asked if they would also move a washer and dryer that was in the garage back into the mudroom (about 25 feet) and asked what the additional charge would be. He said he would have to contact his boss. When he did, he reported that his boss said he could charge me extra if 'he wanted to', but that he wasn't going to and hoped that I would just tip them well. After signing the contract, I then received a copy, noticing that a $60 additional charge had been written in afterward. Feeling uncomfortable with the situation, I decided to contact the moving company directly rather than debate the charge with the movers themselves.

They did a decent job, slow, but careful. The washer spilled some water when they disconnected it, I brought in a mop to mop up the water and he offered to do it for me - very nice. It did take a while as it seemed they had some trouble with the equipment - I was surprised that it took so long and was late to another appointment. Moving the items into the new house went much more quickly. They did reconnect the washer hoses, but did not plug it in. With the dryer they just left the dryer hose behind the dryer, not connected. They seemed to be in a hurry to leave. They did push both appliances back to the wall - thank goodness I checked before starting them. Unfortunately, they were quite heavy and I had to move them back out myself in order to connect them properly.

When I contacted the moving representative, she said she would have to visit with her crew and get back to me on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). She did not contact me, so I called her Wednesday morning. She said she would not refund my money because I did not tell her the whole story. She had a very rude and defensive tone and began to justify her unwillingness stating that the movers had to read a manual in order to prepare the washer for moving (it was one page, requiring them to connect four bolts in order to prevent the front loading washer from being damaged during the move - this is common among front loading washers and she was told I had a front loading washer prior to the move) and that they had to mop up water and move the extra washer and dryer. When I explained to her what the movers had told me about their being no extra charge, she accused me of being unethical and trying to cut her out of her share of the deal. She didn't give me an opportunity to share my side of the story any further and hung up. I did contact her again and asked her to please listen to my perspective. She was unwilling to compromise. Needless to say, I don't recommend this company to anyone, nor will I be doing business with them again in the future.
