April 23, 2008 I paid $25.00 through PayPal to David Rowell The Travel Insider to have my Razr V3r cell phone unlocked. I sent my phone to 17321 NE 31st Ct Redmond, Washington, 98052 with a return envelope. I then recieved an email stating that I would have to send an additional $19.95 for a special unlock code because of the type of phone I had. I replyed to the email asking if this was a guaranteed fix for unlocking my particular phone. Linda & Kirk whom were the names on the emails assured me YES this would do it and we will send your phone out. I then recieved an email with a shippment confirmation from USPS with a confirmation code. I recieved another email stating that my phone was shipped but the unlock code would be emailed to me as soon as they recieved it. I waited in good faith. On 5/6/08 I still have no phone no email and can not get a response from Mr. Rowell, Kirk, or Linda. I have sent numerous emails, left numerous messages, and have been patiently waiting. As of today 5/15/08 I have been RIPPED OFF in my opinion!!!

First of all there is nothing illegal about unlocking a phone you own. See, http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/293875_unlock28.html

I sent a phone to these folks along with $25. I got the phone back with the promise of a refund. That was weeks ago. Still no refund.

David Rowell apparently does not respond to any form of communication available to me. Neither phone nor email. I filed a fraud report with Paypal and he has not responded to that either. My next step is to contact the police and attorney general in Washington. The money is obvioulsly very small and that is what many of these guys depend on, they assume no individual is financially hurt enough to pursue the matter. The Washington Attorney General maintains a consumer complaint department and you can file an online complaint here;

No one is ripping anyone off by having a phone unlocked. In my case I bought my v3 from a guy who just had purchased it thru T-mobil, but got hired by another company who provided a phone. I have service thru Cell one so inorder for the phone to work the phone needs to be unlocked. Do you get it? Or maybe you work for this unlocking service. It has been 4 months and have been given the same promises and etc. from Kirk Moore at the travel insider. Now I get zero responce. He even gave me his cell number and I have talked to him, getting the same lame excuses, now the number doesn't even work......Ripp Off? I'd say.

unlock code

First of all it is RECEIVED NOT RECIEVED. I get so tired of people not spelling it correctly. Second of all, if an unlock code is what I think it is, then who is trying to rip off whom.
