My husband once allowed drinking to get in the way of his life but he then decided to abstain from drinking for over 4 years. A tragic even happend in his life that he didn't want to talk about and turned to alcohol. He drank maybe 5 times in a 3-4 week span. He realized it wasn't the way to go and reached out for some help. Unfortunatley he came accross The Watershed when searching for places in Dallas, TX where we live. He contacted their hotline where they obtained his personal information and his insurances inform. Within 24 hours they had his insurance approve treatment. Then the calls started. He got calls from them 3-5 times a day every day for about week before he finally gave in. They pitched him a sale basically. Made it sound all great! "We're in Florida, we have a gym, we have a pool, we have state of the art facilities, etc." They made it sound like a vacation. They never onced asked him all the necessary questions about how long he's been drinking, how much, how often, etc. If they did they would have known that he didn't drink a lot and he didn't drink daily and he was not dependent on Alcholol. I was not open to the idea of him going to FL and I made that known. That is when he started to drink a little more- I think it was his way of making me give in so he could go w/o remorse. It worked too! Off he went to FL w/o notice at all. He made the call and was gone in about an hour on a flight to FL. The Watershed picked him up in a Limo and everything. They told him prior to leaving he'd have access to the internet for work related things. That turned out to be a lie of course.

Upon his arrival he was admitted and did some blood work. He was immediately put in Detox for no reason! Detox is for a person who drinks heavily and who will experience withdrawals. They put him through detox two times even though he NEVER had any withdrawal symptons. During this time he was not allowed to use the pool, use the gym, or do jumping jacks. MAKES now sense since exercise activates natural endorphins. Their reason was because "He could experience tremors, shakes, seizures, etc." Even though it was obvious he was not and would not experience any of that at all. They kept in him detox twice for the insurance money. Plain and simple!

My husband states that he met with his individual therapist just two times very briefly and NEVER discussed anything other than answering questions such as "how are you doing today, how are you feeling, are your comfortable, etc?" Never once did he even scrape the surface of his internal insecurities or issues or discuss the tragedy that occured which lead him to drink again in the first place.

On my end of things. I constantly got the run around about timelines on when he'd be out of detox and when he'd be able to call home. I was constantly given generic answers and was spoken to very rudely by a woman named Rashida Ross. That was the worst day I had while my husband was away. She lacked compassion.

He and I were told he was there at his own will and could leave whenever he wanted. However, when he expressed his desire to go home and stated that he didn't feel the treatment plan there was the best plan for him he got the run around. Three days passed and they didn't not start the discharge process which is a process that takes 3-4 days. This particular week had a holiday and that would delay his discharge by three additional days. It was BEYOND ridiculous! He then decided to leave but that meant that he would not be provided with any transportation to get home. Additionally he was not given his personal belongings including his cell phone, computer, wallet and ALL of the contents of his wallet such as his Driver's License. He was followed by mulitple staff members who took turns and were constantly battering him and calling him stupid for leaving for about an hour. He finally found a pedestrian who allowed him to use his phone to call me.
Thankfully I was able to make arrangements to get him a hote w/o his license.

My husband is currently in one-on-one therapy and learning to drink in moderation before. All for FREE compared to the thousands of dollars that The Watershed is billing us all for NOTHING!

I'm seriously considering suing them! They didn't do a thorough evaluation on my husband and treated him for alcoholism when he is not an alcoholic.

If you do some research, you will find that the Watershed falsely advertises that it is located "wherever you are." I found them the same way, while looking for treatment in Charleston, WV. HOWEVER, after a hellish stay at the Watershed, I came home and did some poking around.

They advertise that they have locations in all 50 states, and they put up the addresses. However, EVERY SINGLE ADDRESS in EVERY SINGLE STATE comes back to a UPS store. They simply "borrow" the addresses of UPS stores, and use them to suck in unsuspecting victims.

For example, this is the address they give for their 'location' in WV: 3501 Maccorkle Ave SE, #136, Charleston, WV.

A simple Google search of that address showed me that it was a UPS store, not the Watershed. So, I searched other states, including my prior home of Rhode Island, and found that they had two UPS store fronts in RI, and one in nearby Massachusetts. Is this even LEGAL? Also, the phone number is the same for EVERY result, no matter if it's local, or the real location in Florida.
