I was a member at this gym for 3 years. I became very sick during my pregnancy and was throwing up 7 times a day. Toms River Fitness told me I could freeze my membership. I did so, and was charged $9 a month for doing so. What reason is there for charging me $9 a month to a gym I am not using? I was being punished for being a good customer. Instead of cancelling I froze it because I planned on returning and paying the full $50 a month.
I was so sick that I did not realize after 1 year I was being charged this money. I spent over $100 for nothing. I finally cancelled. Beware of Toms River Fitness, as they will charge you money for NOTHING and No service!!

I hope everthing is working out for you. I must say though it sounds like they were giving you a fair deal. You had the option to cancel or freeze your membership for $9 a month. Some clubs don't allow you to do so and to rejoin , charge you all new initiation fees hence the $9 a month , to keep your membership open. I'd ask to speak to the manager and see if they are willing to put any of that money towards any future months, if not find a new club.
