Touchstone Research Store Almost got ripped off!! Internet

Wow....I am so glad that I read all of these negative reviews and acted promptly, as I was almost ripped off for $109.00.

I decided to use Touchstone Research Store because I saw that another website actually recommended them. I am in the middle of trying to purchase a home, and need my DD-214 for the loan to go through. I couldn't wait several weeks for the copy from NAVPERS, so I decided to go with these Touchstone people. The lady on the phone seemed very professional, and she guaranteed that I would receive an electronic copy the next day, and hard copies in 2 to 3 days.

After I placed the order over the phone, the lady whom I spoke with said I would receive a confirmation E-Mail right away, but I did not receive it. A few minutes later, I tried to call them back, but it went straight to voice mail. I figured that it might have been because it was 8 pm by that time, but still, I felt uneasy, so I went online and noticed all the complaints against them, and that the BBB gave them an "F" rating.

I noticed that some of the people who filed complaints were saying that they would try and call the office from a different number, but when they said they had placed an order, they were promptly hung up on. This is EXACTLY what happened to me the following morning when I tried to call. I called from the number that I had placed the original order from, and no one answered. When I called from a different number, a guy answered. As soon as I told him I was calling because I placed an order the night before, the line went silent. I tried to call back, but of course, it just went to voice mail.

I called my bank right away and had them reverse the charge. I told them that I had been scammed, and luckily, I got ahold of them before the charge went through, because I would have been out $109.00.

I got ahold of the VA hospital that I go to, and they said that they keep DD-214 records on file, so I am going to get my form that way. I am so glad that I found these reviews when I did, but also discouraged because I didnt research them before I placed my order. I just trusted the website that recommended them, and I figured since it looked like an official DD214 site, that I could trust it.
