I trusted the owners of the cosingment store David and Cindy Edery to fairly evaluate the value of my six chairs dining room set, buffet and curio.  This was in January of 2011. They took the items to their store and thats when the ripoff occured.

I drove by their store last week and saw my furniture being loaded on a truck.  I went in the store and asked the owner if the items had sold, and was told by Cindy that they were sold over two months ago and were being picked up that day.  Cindy started to look for my paperwork, and could not find any record of my transanction.  She told me to give her 2 days to find it because she was busy with a delivery or something like that.  I waited until Monday May 9, 2011, went to her, and was told the following:

"We sold the furniture at a discount because the furniture did not sell within the first 2 months after its arrival at the shop.  We sold a big cabinet to a lady, and she wanted your furniture as well which we then gave to her at a 50% discount."

Bottom line, my furniture that originally was priced as a group for one thousand dollars, I ended up getting a total of $150.00.

I Was Ripped Off By TREASURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Consignment contract & value of used furniture!

AUTHOR: cindy - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 02, 2013

This set of furniture ,someone put a downpayment and picked it later, which is April/May, Furniture was sold it at discount because after specific time period, it is stated in the contract, we are sorry you feel that way because there is also pick up charges you forgot? and Yes, you get paid when I get paid, also you get 50% of what I received. Everything is stated in the contract.

If you are not happy with it, next time try Craiglist yourself, or may be garage sale, or Goodwill. Sometimes use furniture just don't worth much, depends on the need of people.

Starting price $1000 doesn't mean you get $500 after certain month it's 20%off or 50% off which selling price will be $500,
and you deduct labor for pick up is probably around $100 , Than minus 50% of our fee $250, it is correct, you do get $150
after 5 month of holding and displaying your furniture to make $250 is peanuts for any business.
You should try other consignment store and see what you get!

After 5 years of consignment store, it bought me much pleasure, but now I am so happy not lugging around heavy furniture anymore.

By the way, Aug 2012 we donated 8 truck loads of unsold furniture to Goodwill this way it can recycle to people who are in need. Remember recycle.
