I am being ripped off by Trucks on Call in Rockville, MD. I am shocked people haven't reported this company on this site and trying to negotiate with them is worthless ... they are nasty and rude. Contracted a move from Northern Virginia to storage and out ... all along the DC beltway.

I contracted the company for $135 for 4 guys to pack and move to storage. When they arrived it was only 3 guys and the company did not reduce the cost for shorting me a person. Should have sent them away right then but I was only in town for a weekend from Florida. At 6:00 pm when they realized my house wasn't going to get packed and loaded that night ... they sent out 4 more guys for a couple of hours. To me 4 guys for 2 hours does not equate to one man for 8 hours because they are rushing to do things at the last minute and that does not work.

I was also told that my monthly storage cost for the first month was free and after that $380 for a 10x30 unit only to find out after my furniture was packed, wrapped, and loaded on the truck that one was not available and the cost increased to $580 a month. After screaming, cursing, and a lot of yelling I negotiated it down to $480 for 2 months because I would move it out when I got back in town. The first month of rental they hit my credit card for $490 and this month for $580. When I contacted the company they told me I would get it credited back. I am trying to be patient till I can get my furniture out but this is not easy.

I contacted the company on 3/7/05 (10 days notice) to deliver my furniture out on 3/19/05 ... I was told I would be given a quote on 3/8/05. Had not heard from the company till I called them on 3/15/05 because I found someone else to move my furniture out ... didn't trust them because it would be the last minute and I would not have a chance to find someone else waiting till the last minute. I was told I could get my furniture till I paid them $2000.

I requested an itemized statement and it came at $2320 to get my furniture from the outside of the gate. I was also told I could pay them $2500 to deliver it to me. Talk about a rip off and being swindled. And they do that to you after they have your household belonging in their possession. I have requested itemized statements for the each cost for the $2500 ... I have yet to receive it.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Dept. of Transportation, and the Virginia Motor Vehicle (VMV) Dept. I am being given the total run around by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Dept. because they say I need to file it with the Public Utilities Service Commission and they said they don't do that and VMV says I need to deal with the Federal Motor people because its Interstate. I also contacted the Maryland Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Protection Division they said it will take 4 to 6 weeks to respond.

Its very confusing around this DC metro area with who you contact to file a complaint against the moving company. I learned about your site watching a news report about moving companies ripping people off and hold their furniture for a huge ransom like this one is doing me ... wish I had saw it before they got my furniture.

In the meantime, I will not pay the ransom for my furniture. I called the Montgomery County Police Dept about filing an exhortion charges ... they said it was civil and to hire an attorney. Now, I am in the process of hiring an attorney.

If someone knows the legal steps for the DC metro area, please let me know ASAP! Peter Pugh at VMV is also researching it to help me. I have learned where my furniture is being stored ... it is not on their property but actually at a Self Storage company in Maryland. I just don't feel good about it right now ... I have worked too hard to lose everything I have worked for. I lost everything I owned once in a divorce ... I will not lose all my household belonging again!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!

My Day in Court ... next Arbitration

AUTHOR: MD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 28, 2006

It was a very long day in court, from 8:45am-2:15pm because Nathan Fingerman (Trucks on Call) refused to participate in Mediation but the Judge then ordered him to meet with the Mediator. I got nothing accomplished because he lied the whole time, but I did get to confront him about how unprofessional his moving company operates and the way they cheated me by their overbilling and threatening to auction off my furniture.

Nathan told the Judge I did not read the back of his contract that stated I had to go to Arbitration in order to settle my dispute with his company. He also said that he did not know how I would even go about seeking arbitration and I had never contacted him. When I attempted to file a claim Amy hung up the phone on me. He also lied about faxing me a Claim form for the damaged goods yet did not have a form with him. As far as I am concerned his contract is bogus because he did not have license to move me in the first place.

I had all my letters from the VA & MD Attorney Generals Offices, the BBB, FMSCA, VA & MD Consumer Affairs offices that stated we did not have arbitration due to conditions I refused to meet. My conditions were that I remove all my posting from this site and the others.

The Judge stated that I DID NOT have to remove my posting and their request had no merit and should not have even been considered. So all my postings STAY!! He ordered us to Arbitration on April 5, 2006 that we both have to pay (about $250 each). Now he has to come out of his pocket to pay for it when through all the other agencies I tried it was FREE. I have been trying to get there for over a year and the other agencies kept giving me the runaround.

He lied about not having any of my household goods when I have a letter from Amy stating they do have my items. If we can't come to agreement during arbitration then we will have a trial in a couple months. This is finally getting GOOD.

Heed my warning!!! Before using this company ... here is some additional information to think about

AUTHOR: MD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 19, 2005

Organizations who I have filed complaints against them with:

1. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
1-888-368-7238
March 15, 2005: FMCSA recommended contracting the Virginia Motor Vehicles Department (Paul Pugh: 804-367-1498) because my move originated in Virginia and the Public Utilities Service Commission because they oversee Maryland (which after calling I found out it does not). According to Paul moving from Northern Virginia to Maryland is considered a Washington DC Commercial Zone (still not sure who covers this region) and he does not cover that zone. He stated it should be handled by FMCSA.

2. Better Business Bureau 410-347-3990

He also wrote since my move was within the Washington, DC commercial zone AMSA did not handle it but referred me to the Virginia Movers and Warehousemen's Association, 1707 Summit Avenue #110, Richmond, VA 23230 (804) 358-1448. Check: www.moving.org for carriers that participate in their program.

9. Websites (As posted on Fox5 television station website about ripoff moving companies):
www.movingscam.com and www.ripoffreport.com
Filed online complaints: March 16, 2005 to seek help and resolution for getting back property. March 19, 2005, I paid the exhortion money for my household goods.

As of today, Tuesday, April 19, 2005, I still have not received the remainder of my household goods that Trucks on Call has in their possession.

Now I find out they didn't even have a license to move my household goods. Sometimes no matter how much we think we have researched and done a good job we miss things. I will continue to keep this site updated as new information is received.

TOC admits to illegally moving customers!

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 17, 2005

I would like to point out that Amy Fingerman has admitted to illegally moving this customer.

The complained-about move is the one in March, out of storage into the new house. However, the original move into storage was completed before Trucks On Call had a license to move Household Goods.

By Amy's own words:
"The storage facility was rented last minute on New Years Eve due to Mavee's failure to reserve one as she had informed Trucks on Call before the contract was signed. "
If "last-minute" in this move was New Years Eve, that means the contract was signed and goods were loaded in December, 2004. The customer has verified this.

The following link shows that Trucks On Call received their Household Goods license on January 18th 2005, AFTER the initial move into storage had been completed. Before this date, they were only licensed to move cars.

http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_authorityhistory?pv_apcant_id=356970&pv_legal_name=TRUCKS^ON^CALL^INC.&pv_pref_docket=MC444385&pv_usdot_no=1063845&pv_vpath=LIVIEW

Would it be so hard to believe that this company had done something even a little wrong, after they had violated federal laws governing moving? Martha Stewart also gave money and time to charities, and she was convicted.

Rebuttal - The Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth

AUTHOR: MD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 31, 2005

The above statement is a complete LIE by Trucks on Call! Trucks on Call is NOT a trustworthy company. My property was damaged ... household goods are missing and items that were left on the truck by the men has been denied to me unless I come and pick it up to a location that has yet to be given to me. With all that has happened I wouldn't feel safe going to get my items unless it is with a police escort.

First, at the price I paid to have my household belonging delivered, when Trucks on Call realized things were not taken off the truck, good customer service would have been to have the items courier to my home the same day considering they had been paid till 11:30 am and they actually finished at 10:45 am. My move from Northern Virginia to Maryland (45 miles) with 2 months storage cost me $7450.00. I moved from Ohio to Virginia (500 miles) for less money with 2 stops in between.

Secondly, NO contract was signed for the move out because it was supposed to be included in the original packing and moving to storage! If they have another signed contract, someone forged my signature.

Amy Fingerman at Trucks on Call threaten to auction off my households goods if I did not take the delivery the weekend of 3/19/05.

After speaking with the numerous agencies and an attorney I had decided to just wait and go through the process. I was willing sleep on an air mattress in an empty house and let the arbitration process take its course. But the attorney recommended that I pay the ransom because she would probably get rid of my furniture ... she sounded that vindictive. She demanded $250 an hour for 9 hours ... didn't matter if it took that long or not. She starts off talking nice and professional then turns into She DEVIL or as I called her Ms. B*$#@! She always wants to tell you what she does in the community for homeless women. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS THEY ARE HOLDING FOR A HUGE RANSOM?

Trucks on Call DID NOT offer to deliver my belonging to me for FREE!! If she offered to deliver my furniture for free why did they demand I pay them $2125 to move my household belonging from a storage unit to my garage. NO furniture came inside my house. The 5 men arrived at 9:20 am -- started unloading at 9:30 am and was finished my 10:45 am. I know it only took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to unload 2 trucks but I was charged for 3 hours. If I used my own movers Trucks on Call wanted me to pay them $2320 to get my household belongings out of storage (I have the written quote).

After receiving numerous calls from Amy Fingerman begging me to do the move out (I have my phone records to prove she was calling me) and resolve the issue to get my household belonging back to me she agreed to let me monitor the time since I was being charged $250 an hour instead of the initial $135 per hour. I was overcharged initially so I know they pad their hours.

The loading of the truck out of storage was scheduled for 4:00 pm on Friday and Amy moved the time to 12 noon on Friday because she knew I was not available to be there to monitor. I was also charged for an hour and a half drive to my house which was supposed to be free on the move out. The cost to move in was $135 per hour and the move out was over $475 per hour when you calculate the actual number of hours they worked. A HUGE INCREASE!! One of the moving guys stated it only took them a couple of hours to load the truck but I was told it took them 4 hours.

Also, the money was paid because when the 5 delivery men arrived and one of the men that work for them stood over me and threatened me and said he was told not take the furniture off the truck unless the money was paid in full by credit card before they started according to Nathan Fingerman. I was told by Nathan that once my credit authorization was received for $2125 they would start unloading the truck. When I informed him it was supposed to be calculated by the hour, he said he didn't care, that I would pay that amount if I wanted my furniture or they would take it back! THEY ARE BULLIES ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR BELONGINGS.

Trucks on Call have refused to give me the household items that belong to me and when I have attempted to make a claim for damaged items ... Amy Fingerman hung up the telephone on me because of the posting on this site and Movingscam.com. Amy even had the Montgomery County Police to contact me about harrassing phone calls (which is another lie) because I refuse to call her and have time to play silly games with people. I will let the various agencies and court deal with them.

Storage Issue: Trucks on Call was to secure the storage at $380 a month but did not secure a big enough unit for my furniture and when I located a local storage facility I was told that because Trucks on Calls blankets were on my furniture and my belongings were on their truck I could not place them in my own storage unit where I already had one reserved for my clothing. My own storage unit would have only cost me $235 a month for a 10x30 instead of using theirs at $380 which ended up costing me $580 a month. I have the contract that states $380 with one month free but on the move out, she went back and charged me for the free month.

I have since learned that the company DOES NOT own a storage facility they use a Self Storage Plus facility in Rockville, MD and the managers give them a special deal on rentals. I also learned that the special pricing does not cover 10x30 units only 10x15's and 10x20's that's why she didn't reserve the right size. I have since found out that the storage facility did have a 10x30 unit available at the time but Amy did not reserve it so her initial intent was to up the cost on storage anyway. They also mix people storage together to save money if one unit is only half full.

Also, I did not hired the guys that worked for Trucks on Call ... I befriended them. Shawn, Greg, and Jay are fantastic movers and they told me it was not unusual what happened to me because Trucks on Call does it to everyone and having a written contract means nothing and the customers always feel it is the movers not the company. Shawn and Jay quit the company and Greg is on medical leave from falling off a truck.

Finally, the only reason the complaints are not showing with the BBB, Dept. of Transportation and Consumer Affairs and Protection is because they take 4 to 6 weeks to go through the process.

I have no reason to post any false statements about what has transpired. If everything was great would I have gone this far as to post something online.

Please believe me, I do not want another consumer to be treated the way I have been by Trucks on Call or have you feeling like everything you own is being held for a huge ransom that you can not raise that kind of money to pay for it. Take this as a warning and Beware!!!

Since Trucks on Call is stating they are so trustworthy and professional then refund what you overcharged me and return my household items that belong to me and accept a damage claim on my items that are broken!

Ripoffreport.com really works ... I love this website and I appreciate it being a forum to make people aware of companies like Trucks on Call that do bad business.

customer or employee??? This is not a vendetta in any way

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 30, 2005

This is not a vendetta in any way. In fact, the author is doing EXACTLY what this website was designed for, airing grievances about what happened with her business transaction with Trucks on Call. If this website pops up with a Google search, then a future customer can read this and take into account that there has been at least one customer complaint, and decide whether or not this complaint wil affect their decision to hire Trucks On Call. You have no personal knowledge of what happened to Mayvee, so you cannot say for certain the goings-on of the move.

Are you a former customer, or are you a former employee? Make up your mind. You post that you have used their services, but sign yourself as an ex-employee, and say you spoke with the owner yesterday. Hardly an unbiased observer, are you?

Since you have such detailed knowledge of the inner workings of Trucks On all, do you care to comment on the fact that Amy Fingerman allowed her brother Shlomo to use Trucks On Call's office, trucks, and equipment to run an unlicenced moving company (Olympic Movers) until they were caught?

POSTED: Wednesday, March 30, 2005

Hello,

I have used the services of Trucks On Call in the past and have had no problems with money or moving. From what I understand of the problem is that after everything was said and done the complaint is being made due to the fact that they charged her money because she forgot to reserve space in a storage facility and now that you have paid everything you have some sort of vendeta against them.

However this is just my opinion. I believe in being able to complain about a company on this sort of site its everybodies freewill that allows this however the fact of the matter is that you aren't complaining your are just trying to hurt the company because you every demand beyond that of your contract was unfulfilled. They offered to move you for free what more could you asked for.

The biggest problem at the moment is that when someone looks up their company Trucks On Call on google yahoo or msn this is the first thing to appear and your are hurting thier business and I guess that what the point of your vendetta from I understand from speaking with the owner yesterday. If you have a problem talk with the owner not the public at general

Trucks on Call Unjustly Accused

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 24, 2005

Trucks on Call is fair and understanding in their operations. Ms. Mavee Smith had agreed and signed a contract that stated her move to include two trucks and a 5 man crew on March 19, 2005. After learning of this entry, Trucks on Call was verified by the Department of Consumer Affairs of Montgomery County that all moving regulations were followed with no neglect toward Ms. Smith. The storage facility was rented last minute on New Years Eve due to Mavee's failure to reserve one as she had informed Trucks on Call before the contract was signed. Negotiations were made for the storage due to claims that there were insufficient funds. Therefore, the first month of storage was free and the second month was discounted.

Trucks on Call participates in charity work every year in Montgomery County. Proprietor Ms. Fingerman had offered to move Ms. Smith free of charge if money was a problem. Ms. Smith turned the offer down and asked only that she could be present during the move to record the time it took to complete the move. Ms. Smith did not show up on the day of the move. She also under conflict of interest hired two former employees of Trucks on Call to help with her move.

No dispute is going to be settled over a he said she said argument. Letters have been sent to Ms. Smith informing her details of the move. An itemized list of the breakdown of the costs has been received by Ms. Smith. Every action requested has been taken, and Ms. Smith's move has been completed with no damage. She has paid Trucks on Call in FULL. Why does this Ms. Smith feel the need to pay if she thinks she has been wronged?

There is no reason to claim false accusations of on a company especially holding items for ransom. Why didn't Ms. Smith file any claim to the company? Why hasn't she asked for the two parties to take steps toward arbitration? Remember, Trucks on Call offered to move Ms. Smith free of charge if there were any problems. If there were problems, they were not put to the attention of the management of Trucks on Call. Slander of a person and defamation of a company is illegal. Venting is a form of free speech, but I believe this site should at least scan this claim for liability purposes. Thank you for listening.
