Turner Enterprises is currently recruiting via Career Builder to suck in desperate job seekers. All you need is a high school diploma and zero experience. For that they will pay you between $35k-$40k base....or will they. Well at least that’s what they are saying online.

They make the hiring process as fast as they can so that you don't have much time to think or find scam reports. I applied for the position and Cindy Baker (HR Director) called me back less than 24 hours of applying to set up a face to face interview first thing the next morning.

The phone call did not ask any normal qualifying questions but rather questions like; are you comfortable with moving on to a management role in the short term future with the company? (BIG BIG red flag. A.) Who doesn't? B.) If you are hiring everyone to be managers down the road who remains as regular employees? C.) If you are planning before even seeing me to make me a manager, why don't you hire me as a manager today?! D.) NO reputable company offers management positions to entry level employees. There would be WAAAY to much risk in that. Why have all your entry level employees expecting to be managers when in reality that would be virtually impossible?) Their idea is that people will take the job with that hope of being promoted and they can get a year out of the sucker before he quits.

Another question was, "Are you comfortable with us training you in to the position?) HUH??! Who wouldn't be? Remember as an entry level position, the people applying for this position generally don't have any experience AND THEREFORE CAN'T GET GOOD JOBS ELSEWHERE! Of course I'll let you train me and give me experience??

The idea with these questions is to ask you basic affirmative questions that get you into the mindset that this job is ideal for you. Interestingly, THEY SAY NOTHING ABOUT THE JOB ITSELF!

I raised my own questions. "Your post on career builder said the base pay is $35-$40K. Can I expect that right away? It is a base pay, right?"

The response: "Pay is up to the manager, I can't make that decision"

Me - "So what was written on the Career Builder post is not accurate?"

Cindy - "I don't set reimbursement packages"

So much for a decent base. Others who have discussed pay with “the Manager” say it is 100% commission.

NEXT QUESTION

Me - "Does the job require door-to-door sales?" [There was NO mention of this on the Career Builder post, company website OR previously in our phone conversation. I asked this Q due to concerns from other posts on this and similar sites]

Cindy - "No. We get prequalified leads from AT&T and speak with people who expressed an interest in the service. We would not send people from door to door."

Me - "But does the job entail driving to people’s houses, knocking on doors to sell products?"

Cindy - "It would.”

Interestingly NOT ONLY does the job entail driving to people’s homes to sell IT APPEARS THAT THAT IS ALL THE JOB ENTAILS! These people and their policies are misleading and attempt to trick unknowledgeable and unfortunate people to work for them. They would be better off saying what they expect from employees rather getting people excited about the position and then upsetting so many people. Very poor leadership and judgment on their part.
