US READERS sold my 94 year old mother a huge amount (459.00) of magazines over the phone.  She has mild dementia and gets easily confused on the phone. She is so thrilled when someone calls her and can be easlily taken in and confused by telemarketers.

You can tell this is an elderly person whenyou speakd to her on the phone and most people would know not to ask this woman to purchase anything over the phone. US READRS sold her multiple magazine subscribtions by obtaining her Debit card number.  She had to get up and go and get the card, and it took someone inquiring if she had a card, giving a directives, explanations, and encouragement to do use it, and it took time for her to do that. She isn't able to intiate or complete that process on her own. The money was immediately withdrawn from her account which caused her account to be overdrawn and four of her monthly payments bounced.  My mother lives on SSN and a tiny pension, she barely makes it.

I have contacted US READERS no less than six times in the past month, I have been given the run around, their mailbox is full, left three messages, "Ginger" the Supervisor isn't available call back later etc.  No one has never returned my calls, including Ginger.  I was not able to get a Fax number or mailing address to seek some recourse, as I have POA, instead they disconnected me.

I was actually told by one representative they would refund the money, she understood and would want someone to do the same for her mother. Nothing  has been refunded.  When I called today I was told there isn't anything on the account about a refund and now it is past 30 days.  However, it is marked as a do not call  number.  Again I was disconnected when I asked for a mailing address.

My mother is very sweet and an honest person and does not deserve this.

I would appreciat having her money refunded to her.

My 88 year old mother has dementia and was also contacted by US Readers and talked into a 3 year subscription to 2 magazines for $249.99.  I called and cancelled the order when she received the confirmation, but they still charged her debit card.  We disputed the charge, had it removed from her account and cancelled the debit card.  Then we moved her and changed her phone number so they cannot get to her again.  They are still saying that the bank ruled in their favor and they have been paid for this subscription!!!  They are truly a fraudulent company.
