I purchased a Samung Galaxy Tablet form Verizon thinking that I could use the device when I travel to watch movies I downloaded while in flight. I purchased the unit and rfecieved it on 10/11/2011. I took my first trip with my new tablet and discovered that it does not download movies but streams them over the internet. This was not what I wanted.
When I called Verizon on 10/28 to cancell and return the device, i was told that I was out of luck. I was 3 days over their 14 day return policy, and I had 3 options i keep the tablet and pay off the contract, find someone to assume the contract or pay a $350 termination fee! I offerred to return the unit and let Verizon keep the $130 i paid for it, but was told emphatically by a supervisor that Verizon DID NOT WANT the tablet back. They are totally unwilling to accept anything less than a $350 termination fee! For 3 days!
I have no intention of ever paying Verizon another penny! I already have AT&T for my cell phone, and will never need Verizon for anything. I'm sure that I am not alone here. I have purchesed devices form both AT&T and Sprint and have return to bith with no issues.

But it was past the return period, what's the problem?

In the future, adhere to the terms of the return policy.
They didn't rip you off, YOU ripped you off.

Just how many days after the 14 day return policy should they continue to accept returns? Should they still return it 4 days after the 14 days? How about 10 days? What if you came back 2 months after? Or do you stick with the 3 days because that is when you tried to return it?
Your reason for a return would be a valid reason, but there is no reason it should have taken you over 2 weeks to figure this out. You should have known that it did not download movies within the first hour of using it.
If I was to take a guess I would say that you knew it didn't do what you wanted either before you bought it or very shortly after you got it. Then even though you had no intention of keeping it you figured you could get a couple weeks of "free" use out of it. Oh and yes I know you said they could keep the $130, but I doubt you started with that, and only did that when you found out it may cost you $350.
I have purchesed devices form both AT&T and Sprint and have return to bith with no issues.
- If what you are saying is true then what this really says is that you have a history of buying items, using them, and then returning them after the deadline. If so then you are the reason that stores are becoming more strict on returns.

"I have no intention of ever paying Verizon another penny!"
Refusing to honor the terms of a contract will damage your credit far beyond the $350 it would cost you to cancel it.
