this is a warning for parents with teenage children using cell phones. verizon has a system of charging first, then explaining what the charges are all about. I was charged about $250 in text messaging charges because my daughter was receiving dozens of messages a day. i was told that the charges applied even if my daughter did not open the messages because at that time we were out of the country. I found that absurd, but paid the bill minus a token discount. of course i then got unlimited textmessaging for everybody. so that's the end of the story, no! a few months later i "find" in my statement additional charges. i find out that they are for "special features" related to text messaging. i paid that bill and asked them to block all possible additional features. still today i find another "data" charge in my daughter's line. the poor customer service rep explains to me that is for "premium messaging" and that is cost $10 for a message. when i told that i had blocked "everything" before, he says that the capacity to block this particular feature was only available this month! go figure. all possible

You can visit your line information via VerizonWireless.com, and verify what features are active. You can make the appropriate changes to your line, so you don't receive anymore bogus charges.

Revisit -Verizon Customer Service

AUTHOR: M.a.s. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 26, 2008

We too thought we had everything blocked. Verizon assured us last month when we added another kid that everything possible was blocked but.....

This month Verizon passed along new service charges from an outside texting company. They are showing up all over everyones Verizon bills. Verizon knows they have a problem. Premium Text messaging is the new thing. Some unknown to you company sends you a text message, you respond and if you do not pay attention and respond in the wrong way (ie. accept the service) you will be charged a premium. Watch Verizon bills, you have about 30 days to question any fraudulent or unauthorized charges.

Re-visit Verizon, yesterday 2/26 they were able to reverse the charges and block my kids from subscribing to this service again. Ask if you can get the reps extension number, to follow up on if question still exist on the next bill. Good reps will give it to you, if not ask for a manager.
