Vince Carello Timmins Polar Bear Windows and Doors, Northern Renovations Fraud,charming family man,sloppy unfinished work,not thorough,wasteful,tardy,money up front,leftover or flawed materials,destroyed my house Timmins/South Porcupine, Ontario

I am ashamed to admit I was tricked, deceived and intimidated into decisions I disagreed with, when I trusted a contractor named Vince Carello.

I had hired Vince Carello because of a referral from an acquaintance of mine, the nephew of a man I have been seeing for 10 years. This came about when I was telling him the fellow from Timmins /Polar Bear Windows and Doors  representative Yvon who just did an estimate for the work, suddenly died. Darren told me he had a friend who worked for Timmins/Polar Bear Windows and doors, said the guy did awesome work. He went on to say he was a life long buddy of his, they grew up together and he trusted him. He said hed talk to him about me, that I could trust he would do right by me. He gave me his number.

There were 10 windows on the east side of the house alone, 3 windows on the north side of the house
4 on the on the west side of the house 2 on the north side of the house, totaling 19 windows. 9 of the windows were to be closed off. 10 of the windows were to be replaced. The idea was to cut down on the windows in order to be more green and energy wise.

There was a storage area under the porch and a man door compete with drainage plus 4 windows. The man door was my only entrance/exit from the outside into the basement to pass appliances, furniture or other items for storage downstairs.  I requested this door be fixed in such a way it could not be kicked in from the outside. Vince told me he could reverse the way the door opened which would prevent that. I suggested a sliding door.

The porch was to be squared off, insulated and sided just like the rest of the house with 1 foil insulation.
The door to be installed there was to be able to provide warmth in the winter and ventilation in the summer.

All new eaves trough and down pipes were to be installed around the roof of the entire 1153 sq foot house. A walk around porch and rear door was to be installed over the man door. 

Instead the window was closed off. No insulation was wrapped on the porch The porch was not squared off. The interior was ripped out, the doors are screwed into nothing and I have to use an 8 foot 2x4 to lock or keep them from blowing open. On these doors were installed digital security locks that never worked or closed right.

I havent decided were my kitchen sink will be so I requested the larger of these 2 windows or one like it be installed on my kitchens north wall where you see a small window. 

The small window was suppose to be the attic window. The window that was to be installed on the north kitchen wall is sitting in my garage. None of the windows he installed are what I wanted or expected.

The attic window is attractive but unable to open. The window that was suppose to be installed up there was the put in my kitchen. 

I wanted garden doors with mini blinds inside. I did not get that.

The attic window was huge and I requested one window centered which ended up as my kitchen window instead.  The window that was installed cannot be opened. I did not want a window that would not let the hot air out in the summer.

Instead of doing as I asked and close off the existing double window and make a new opening more centered he used the double window opening.

He insisted on cutting down my 20 year old cedar trees for his ladders and ramp,. 
I doubt hed cut a mans trees down.

I pointed things out to him and he'd reassure me he'd get to it when he was done a job he was on, he was looking forward to working indoors during the cold weather. So when things weren't capped off I just thought he's do it later. I was in not savvy on what was considered done. Besides being deaf with a horrible head cold my mental health was going through hell as they changed my medications and my Crohn's Disease had been and is flaring ever since so I WAS EASY PREY. Since then as people came by and saw me trapped behind the plastic wall he constructed and everything I own on one side of the house and in boxes pointed out all this deceit. I was robbed by my boarders, to sick to stay awake for more than a few hours or in the bathroom. The day after Christmas my friend came by and cut the leftover foam exterior insulation to fit in the raw chipboard he left and then covered it with plastic. 

She called Vince Carello as did my son Frank Purdy and Vince refused to come over and speak with us or to do anything unless I gave him more money. I had paid him to install eaves and repair a weak spot in the roof to prevent a leak inside, he did come over and assured me there would be no leak. He agreed to come back the next day to work. He did, with a lad from Timmins Polar Bear Windows and Doors who worked with him, I had an appointment and had to leave. When I got back the lad was alone in my house, every indication of Vince was gone, and all of my friends work was torn down and redone. Instead of insulating around the other windows he redid what was an airtight and far better job than the lad did, that would had made do till spring.
