Vincent Thomas purchased a vehicle from a car dealership here in San Diego on a Saturday night.  The car dealership would not allow Vincent to drive the car away because he did not have full coverage insurance.  Vincent called me to get an insurance quote for that vehicle.   We provided him with the auto insurance quote and he agreed to purchase the insurance policy at the price given to him.   We proceeded to get all of his personal information and the information on the vehicle (i.e. VIN #, odometer reading etc.).

Vincent then told me that he had a problem. That should have been my first warning!!!  He explained the his military pay check would not be deposited into his checking account until Tuesday.  Vincent asked me if I would provide insurance on the new vehicle on Saturday night and deposit his check on Tuesday.  Vincent even provided me with a credit card number in the event there was a problem with his check not being deposited on Tuesday.  I'm a former Marine of 6 yrs active duty. I figured that Vincent would not stiff me and if he did, then his commanding officers would tell him to make things right.   I was wrong!

Vincent gave me a check and credit card for a closed account.  The money for Vincent's insurance policy was taken from my bank account.  I attempted to contact Vincent; I spoke with three times within a few days after I found out that his money was not good.  He apolgized several times and told me that he would come to my office and bring cash to cover the check.  Needless to say, Vincent never paid one penny to me and I ended up losing my money.   I even tried to file a small claims against Vincent and he would not answer his door when the Sherriff tried to serve him.

I contacted his Marine Corp commanding officer regarding this issue.  I spoke to a Captain, Sgt Major, and one other person.  After dealing with these people and way they talked to me, I can say that for the first time in my life.  I was ashamed of the United Stated Marine Corp. They are teaching these young Marines that it is ok to lie, cheat and steal.  Vincent is the type of person that would coward and run while his fellow Marines is being killed in combat.   Vincent do you know the meaning of Semper Fidelis?
