Have you ever heard of the vonage scam, well let me tell you about it. My wife and I were looking for a cheaper phone service, and we came across vonage. So we had switched, what a scam.dec 11,07 vonage switched or service for us from comcast, first we recieved their vonage box in the mail and I hooked it, its all been hooked up right, because I have a friend who works for the phone co. I needed to contact after finding out our phones didnt ring. for years we never had our phones not ring and to this day, our friend cannot find out why.
I contacted vonage on dec 14, 07 to find out why their system was not working properly, according to them I was the one at fault, i had hooked something up wrong. I told them it was hooked up right. The woman who i had spoke with, told me she would give me a seventy five dollar credit to have a man from the geek squad come out and insure their system was properly hooked up right. I told this woman it was, and that none of my phones rang in my house. she began to twell me again that I did not hook them up right. I told I followed the instructions to a T. so did my friend, after hours of going thru the instructions with me, we hooked their system up the way the book said. this woman was an idiot from india, why I think she was from india was because she sounded like she was an idiot from india, who had a problem with my english. she told me there was nothing she could do at that point. to contact the people she gave me a number to and have them find out what I did wrong, what an idiot this broad was. Why is it anyone who has an IQ of 210 would have a problem hooking a power cord and three wires up, cant get his phones to ring.
I called the 800 number and found myself speaking with a kim, who asked a few questions about where i lived and who I was, I told her and she asked if I was a customer and I told her no. she asked for my address and I gave it to her. she asked what my problem was and I told her vonage gave me her number because I had a problem with my phones, they didnt ring in the house. she said I hooked something up wrong, I told this black woman and how I knew this was her lips flapped while she talk to me. I told her i did not hook their machine up wrong, she had the nerve to tell me, im sorry sir but you did. we get alot of people refered to us because of that problem, she then proceeded to tell me that I would be charged 159.99 for the man to repair. I told her that a friend of mine was just here and didnt find a d**n thing wrong with the way he hooked their system up. she said oh yeah who was that. A quest repair man. she said oh, I think he would know. and wanted to send the geek squad out anyways to see if he hooked it up right.
you dont want to know what I want to say abbout her right now. it would be racial and down right bad. Now I wonder how many people have gone thru this, but i am still without ringing in my phones, until next saturday when comcast rewires my house for free and at a discount on my billing by $25.99 dollars a month. I could see why vonage would only offer a 75.00 credit towards a repair that is my fault, all the years in eletronics, I have failed once, I didnt go to tech school.

Hmmm

""The woman who i had spoke with, told me she would give me a seventy five dollar credit to have a man from the geek squad come out and insure their system was properly hooked up right.""

Well, that certainly would have ended the "it's hooked up wrong, it's hooked up right" debate. If you had done this, and it turned out that their equipment was at fault and not the way you and your friend hooked it up, it's very likely they would have footed the entire "repair" bill. But alas, you didn't want to do that.

""all the years in eletronics, I have failed once, I didnt go to tech school.""

It shows!

Try connecting the phones correctly

AUTHOR: A Friend - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 22, 2007

1. try connecting the phone directly to the Vonage phone adapter (your friend may be the idiot here - Not the "Broad" from India)

2. when that phone works (and I'm sure it will). Disconnect the line coming into your trailer from the demarc (your "friend" should have no trouble doing this for you).

3. Remove the phone from the Vonage device and connect a standard phone wire from the Vonage device (the working phone port) and into the nearest phone jack.

All your phones should now work. A little word of advice - calling people names is childish, and just because they are from another country might just make you a bit of a bigot.

Also, Vonage staffs a team of experts that can handle basic issues, such as yours, to extremely complicated issues.

You have done something wrong

AUTHOR: Bikebryan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 22, 2007

Vonage is right - you must have done something wrong. The only reasons this wouldn't work:

1. You have not confirmed they have ACTIVATED the vonage device/number for you.

2. YOU have it wired wrong (and a phone repairman wouldn't be a reliable check on this one, since they do wireline wiring and Vonage uses VoIP over you internet connection).

Both of these are fully in YOUR control. Don't go blaming Vonage. I've used them now for some time and the only times it hasn't worked was when my Internet Provider had problems.
