I bought a wireless router for 44.95 and found the same router in El Cajon store for 5.00 less (39.95).

I called the Grossmont Cnter store and they suggested that I take the part and get a refund at Grossmon store and then buy the part at the El Cajon (Parkway Plaza)and save the $5.00.

Wal-Mart (Customer Service i oth stores said that they do not price compare against thier stores, they just check the prices in the area and charge accordingly.

I also checked the manufactures webite and thier MSRP was 39.95 also.

I also thught tha the prices in a 'chain' store would be the same in a metropolitian area. I guess not so for Wal-Mart.

Well, you live in a market economy....

Would you prefer a "demand economy" where the state specifies all prices (as well as where you can shop)? This was the description of the old Soviet Union, and we know what happened to them.

So yea, prices between different Wal-Smarts do vary. So what? We have a really, really fine good sized recreational lake here. A specific Portapotty was an excellent choice for use on our boat and I found that at the two local Wal-Smarts it cost $78. At the Greenville Wal-Smart I found that SAME Portapotty for $70.... but that is about 45 miles away from this fine lake. Saving $7 was not worth a 90-mile round trip but I was in Greenville for other reasons.

price differances

There over 5 Walmarts close to my house and they often have differant prices. One is near a Target and two are near Kmarts. those three stores charge less than Target and Kmart, yet more than the others in the area. That's just how business works.
Walmart does price match, but to my knowledge, they do not match their own stores. Not a rip-off as much is it may be a company policy.

Of course Walmart is a ripoff

I lived in North Scottsdale AZ, 85255, which is one of the most affluent areas of AZ. When my sone was born, I bought his formula and diapers at the then new Wal-Mart on Northsight Blvd close to my house at McDowell Mountain Ranch. The average household income at MMR was about 152K at the time. I paid about 23 bucks for a large can of Similac. They NEVER had the diapers in the large economical packs, just the small more costly packs. I thought this was pretty normal because I never priced out Similac just assuming Wal-Mart had the lowest cost.

Then one day by chance, I stopped in the Wal-Mart in Phoenix on East Bell, which is less than 3 miles than the Northsight location. The neighborhood is a more modest and middle class. I was quite surprised to see that the same Similac was five dollars less per can, and they had very ample quantities of the large packs of diapers. I bought the stuff there, but decided to check out the Target and Safeway in North Scottsdale. The Similac and diapers were about the same price at the Target in North Scottsdale as they were at the Phoenix Wal-Mart. More shocking was the fact that the Scottsdale Safeway was just a bit lower in price on the Similac and diapers than the Scottsdale Walmart.

WalMart wasn't even lower than Safeway.

WalMart is a big ripoff, they just throw some palettes of crap in the aisles and rip you off on the things that you need. I also noticed that the prices would rise substantially more than inflation.

Wal-Mart is a disgrace, do yourself a favor and stay out.
