Wells Fargo at Sahara and Rainbow closed my account after my employer check deposits were bad/fake. Wow, this all happen today! I knew that I was working for a company that was cutting employees, but bad/fake checks were the last thing I ever would have believe would happen. On April 8th, I deposited my commission check from my employer. I had other money in my account for bills, ect. So it was no big deal that the check took several days to clear. Yesterday, I deposited my IRS check and started to deposit a Cashier Check that my employer had given me. The teller had her manager call to the holder, which I am so thankful for. She let me know the check is Bad/fake. In which I was greatful for. I had the teller make a copy of the check. I took it by my work. My boss took me that he would have me a new check and wasn't sure what was going on. My husband told me not to accept checks that unless we cashed them with him at his bank. One time was all it took. So nothing from that was deposited in my account. I was very greatfull to the teller.
Anyways, that night when shopping with my friends my Wellsfargo check card declined. The cashier told me this could just be the system. No big deal I went to the ATM to get cash. My card declined. I called the 800 number on the back, the rep told me my account was froze, told me there was a flag up to call the Rainbow/Sahara Branch. She gave me the branch number to call. It was after hours. As soon as I got home I look online. My account had no messages or alerts nor did my email. (keep in mind the check from earilier was never deposited in my account) I had money in my account and my account had never gone into overdraft or had any trouble.
The next morning my account had over $2000 more dollars in it. I am very good at knowing how much is in my account. I went to the bank first thing that morning. I talk to a banking associated about my account being frozen. He looked at the account with me at his computer. Wasn't sure what was going on with my account. He went to the Branch Manager, then he came back and told me my account was closed due to bad activity. I want to know what was going on, since the only thing I could think of was what happen the day before. In which again the check was never deposited in my account.
He then saw that a deposit for $2800 was a bad/fake check from my employer. Again, I told him I was greatful that he had notice that. I had plenty of money in my account outside that to cover anything else. He told me that the account is closed due to this activity and that they would sent me a check in the next 5 Business Days for the balance in my account.
I ask him why, he told me it was a decision made by the Main Branch Manager. I ask to speck with her. She came out, her arm folded. I told her that I don't understand closing the account. She said it was because Bad activity. And that she breaks those type relationships with Customer that have that type activity in their account. I told her that she could look at my account and see that this is not a normal activity-that my account has never had anything.
I told her that I could understand that the account frozen or waiting for the $2800 to clear. But closing my account was over the top. She said, "I am sorry but again I don't have those relationships at my Branch." On the computer the $2800 had show to be cleared. I had almost double that amount in the account outside my saving account.
I mention to her that I am a customer that has builded a relationship with WellsFargo. I have thousands in loans, checking, and saving account. All in good standing never any bad activity. And that I am handling this with my employer and noted to her this only happen once. She said again that she wants no relationship with me. And that I would be allowed to ever have an account at Wells Fargo again. And to make her sure I pay me loans.
At this point, I felt like I had done something wrong. I called the 800 number she had given me. They told me that was a decision that the bank manager had to make. And she agreed that this was alittle harass. I told her I was still at the bank. I told the Branch Manager what she said. She told, me that she would have my balance in the mail to and that I would get it in 5 Business Days.
I called the 800 number I found online to try to get help with this. She forward me to the other manager at the bank and said she could not over ride her Manager. I told her I understood, she gave me the Fraud Dept number. I call the Fraud dept. She told me before I explain anything more that this a issue that the Bank Manager had to make.
I didnot receive any emails about this until 2pm in an email not my online account. In which the email read that my account was froze until the deposit cleared. I called the online number. The online rep told me my account had not been closed and that the $2800 was just pending. In which, I understood. Later that night it finally showed that it was pending on the online.
This all happen in one day. Not that it wasn't enough I had the issue with my employer of almost a year, but the whole bank closing.
Yes, I am hurt by my account closed, told that I would never have a Wells Fargo account again, lack of communication with me on this issue, her unnessary unprofessional comments,... I just feel like this should have been handled in a different manner. I can understand freezing the account, or worried about overdraft, but I had more than enough money in the account. In which she should have looked at. Or if this had happen before I could understand. None of this was my fault I feel like I handled it the only way I knew how with me employee and that she was unreasonablr, had poor customer service skills.
I am glad to also, see other listing on this sight that had issues with that same Branch. And hope that Wells Fargo looks into that Branch to make sure she doesnot treat anyone else, in the same behavior and comments she treated me.
